Long bar versus short bar: I use the long bar primarily for the chest press and the bent-over row (back). My rationale is based on traditional barbell training: wide grip develops wide chest/back. Short bar works well for keeping the arms close to the body and improving form for triceps and biceps. The short bar also helps with my balance while doing the calf raises. Also, the long bar is helpful for me during the single leg squats.
I don’t use X3, but I do use a similar system with resistance bands and cable handles, belt, wrist and ankle wraps with M10 or 12 carabiners, as well as a 48” pull down bar. However, my foot plate is a 48” long Step platform and I like the pre-stretch of the longer platform. I just add some nylon straps between the band and the attachment point, if it’s hard to reach. There are lots of ways to skin this cat, but if you don’t have time and want to spend the money on an ecosystem that’s readymade…all of these brands have something to recommend them.
Some people prefer being around others in a gym environment for socializing, hitting PRs and stuff (while others simply don't have time or don't want to be in that crowd). I think older folks especially can benefit the most from X3. The ego really needs to be in check in order to use the X3 regularly.
I used to spend 3-4 hours (4 days a week) at the gym with my power-lifting regimen. I’m over 60, and I notice that it was taking longer to recover in that I no longer could play golf or tennis on my “rest day.” I initially missed the camaraderie with my gym buddies. Fortunately, since my gym has an outside area with artificial turf, jungle gym, fight equipment, and machines; I can do my exercises at the gym, still say hello to my buddies, and then get done with my workout within an hour before I go to the courts or course!
Thx for this video! About 20 seconds in, you showed how to use the squat belt for calf raises. I was having problems with balance using the conventional method.
that x3 is nice, bands lengthen the muscle,i knew it a long time ago,i think they compliment weights, total gym etc.and the resistance on those heavier bands are great for building, cutting ,shaping the body,x3 is solid, great video mike...enjoy yr Sunday poeple🫡
It really isn’t anything special, you just need to have the bar set up and then deep squat down and place the bar on the hooks. I can see for some people this might not be so easy though.
Call me Old School but the X3 has been my favorite gym equipment!! I have the P90x and Bodybeast DVD s and they are both outstanding but you need equipment to do those programs and I've sold most of my equipment for those programs but the one other piece of equipment that I do use on my own time is the rack all in one gym and I love that with my X3!!! Wouldn't trade that thing or my X3 for anything ohh and what's the most I need now band's WOW less space than weights and better price points too!!!!!
Not to create controversey here, but Dave Schmitz, otherwise known as the band man has done a lot for bands as well. Not saying he had that set up per se, but talk about limitless, knowledge and possibilities. He wrote the book.
@@hybridresistance I agree with that! And I do like the X3 Bar and own it as well. Top-notch quality all the way as well as the Research to back it up.

They sent me a email about open box x3's, (returns) for $200 off, but they were sold out by the time I saw the email. I thought that was a good deal for a used x3, covered by the same warranty.
Would you say the band tension stays evenly distributed with the x3 system? I noticed with my budget setup that the bands move around quite a bit and tension will be greater on one side
I have a question. How do you get into the back squat position? I know x3 recommends the front squat, but i wanna start to alternate the back squat. How do you do it?
I'm looking, but as of now I don't know of anything else other than what X3 is selling on their site. I did a recent review of it on the channel in case you didn't see it.
I'm only 5'3". Does the X3 System offer a shorter band for our height, like 32" bands? I'd hate to end up with bands that will be too long to maintain that tension. I'd probably need 37" for above the shoulder moves. Thoughts?
X3 does not offer shorter bands. You have to go to Serious Steel for those. I'm 5'4" and 41" bands do not work for me for chest or triceps press. I use SS 32" bands for those.
Thank you. I was thinking I'd need shorter for anything below my shoulders, but longer for above? I love deadlifts at the gym and want to do a simulated one with the bands. Hate to buy a system and have to replace the bands.....maybe I can find a used system for less than new.
Do you like using the 37 or 38" bands instead of 41" and do you have a code or link to save money? I'm thinking of getting the knock off X3 bar from Amazon instead of the 2 piece knurled bar with triangle carabiners I use now also I almost got the X3 elite band used off ebay for a great price but was outbid.
You spent a lot of time in the past dispelling critics of the Total Gym and other SBTs, primarily by showing proof that you can build muscle using those machines and (almost) nothing else. Can you make the same claim about X3? Could you go as long as you did using nothing but TG with this system and get the same results?
I know people are certainly doing it, but personally for me and my body/goals, I can't say for sure as I haven't done it. A big part of any system or exercise tool is adherence and if you'll actually want to keep using it. I can give credit to them on that at least (from my own experience), that its' one of my top 5 favorite home exercise tools.
Yes, sorry. Mac is taking time off until it get warmer to make the boards outside. But I do have a wood shop working on the new board. Coming VERY SOON.
This lady started in a wheelchair with X3. She was training with X3 trainer Daniel Maygar. She was using the wheelchair as anchor for some exercises and used bed frame for row. m.ruclips.net/video/dmLyKQEYwe4/видео.html
An affiliate yes, getting paid no. I got affiliates with all kinds of companies including free weight companies like Rouge. Also got affiliates with X3 competitors, like Harambe. Genuinely my prefer way to use bands. Not to mention I’ve pointed out flaws and offer
I love this fitness channel. I always learn something new.
Thanks Jay

I like the Amazon bar the 36-in long version the best

Any different alternatives to the x3 squat belt out there?
I'm believe some things are soon to be released, so I will keep you all posted.

Does a non-fused spine from an infection count as having a bad back lol?
Keep up the great work.
I do wonder if the bicep curls and overhead presses would aggravate your back. For sure the deadlifts / squat would I assume.
X3 or maxpro
Personally use my x3 more than my max pro
Boards are out of stock 😢

Looking forward to it !!! 😁. Was worried they were done for good like another plate I was eyeing 😵💫
Bench pressing looks really uncomfortable with this
I didn't like it at first, but then fell in love with it.
@@hybridresistance how tall are you? I'm 6'6" with long arms, I feel I'd be so cramped in this
@@rickhammel9541 I’m 6ft. They sell a long bar but wish you could buy it as a first purchase in their package.
This is no gd for bodybuilding in a wheelchair tho is it
I'd say there are probably better options, but certainly resistance bands in general would be a good tool to take advantage of it regardless.
