I love this build so much. I admit that I never even looked at the wild magic barbarian before this. I just assumed it would be chaos like the wild magic sorcerer, and I wasn't confident enough with the game to be throwing monkey wrenches around. I've done like 3 playthroughs now, though, so I think I'm gonna give some wild magic a try next! And I love this build on Gale. That rage scream... 🤣 Also, I feel like the OPness of some of the builds for this game gets in the way of more fun/creative builds. It's very refreshing to see a unique build like this that prioritizes the theme over min/max.
Would Tavern Brawler be a good choice here? I like the idea of a crazy raging magical explosion man that uses his fists and throws enemies at other enemies.
Unfortunately not because we aren't strictly using our fists, BUT just swap out the stuff where I say use weapons here or take GWM and it COULD absolutely work! :) Like you said, get raging with them fists!!
@@italianspartacus Thanks! I would use TB for my Tav, and use this for Karlach or Gale. I just like the idea of throwing and improvised weapons because it's something that I haven't seen much in games before.
I just finished a Durge run with a WM barb in my party. Between her and a couple of necklaces, Gale’s spells slots went way further than any run before. I know it comes on kinda late but the utility of having 3 extra slots without rest or elixirs can’t be understated. They also get a limited guidance which came in clutch a few times. I will say I didn’t feel like any particular surge was impactful except maybe the one that makes difficult terrain but she was a thrower build so it was just like okay.
This is old. But for inforamtion, unarmoured defense uses the one with the highest AC. So since your Constition is higher than your Wisdom, it'll take the barbarian's unarmoured defense
So this is something of a random request and it's probably not feasible, but have you considered making build guides like this for Divinity Original Sin 2? I got sucked into BG3 and found your channel through that. I really enjoy the way you go through everything and put your videos on all the time now even when I'm doing household chores. You explain things in a way that made the game very easy to understand, especially to one who had never dabbled in D&D. Divinity recently went on a killer sale and I'm eager to see what Larian had put together before BG3. I see that you had a playthrough playlist but I didn't see any guides. If it happened to line up for you, that would be aces for me. That being said, I know it's a 2017 game and probably not an algorithm monster so I completely understand that this has pretty much no chance of happening. I just know that if I don't ask, it's DEFINITELY not gonna happen. Thank you for all of the awesome videos and keep it up!
Wild magic is seriously underrated especially for an MC since the utility of having a "free" way to gain advantage on conversation skill checks is highly appreciated. Loved going for it with my Sorcadin TAV as the party face since I wanted to spice things up. Going full meta for everything is neither necessary (even for my modded up Tactician run with Honour mode Legendary actions and buffed up enemies) nor fun for me.
some other fun build ideas are 3 levels of ranger for gloom sub class and 9 levels of warlock(pact of the blade) for half orc, or for a gith, doing 3 levels of barb(for the subclass with the bear deal that gives you resistances to everything cept psychic(and then get the gith armor that gives gith psychic resistances) and then 9 levels of Open Hand Monk
I can also see this build, in fire form, as a good Karlach build, because it, lore wise, allows her to lean into her infernal engine and the power from Avernus and 10 years of fighting for Zariel, for the fire damage and heat.

This seems more like it should have been a Karlach build, fire wild barbarian
It's a play on the fact that Gale acts like a high and mighty wizard, when really he just gets angry and magic happens
Gale has just realised that he's actually really mad at Mystra (as he should be). Perfect! :D
Starting as gale origin also gives you that level 1 telekinesis that feels thematically fun with this build

Gale isn't a pet nuke, he's my emotional support nuke. It's why I can take him into Baldur's Gate even though nukes aren't allowed.

Since this build is str focus and use some unarmed attacks, I think that TB could be a good feat to use.

Dex paladin works, but most barb class features key off of strength weapons, unfortunately.
