No. I personally don't believe they all went to hell. However they, or evangelical, protestant or orthodo can all go to hell if they are not truly right with God. Please be born again. Jesus can show himself to anyone Muslim Hindu or whomever, make anyone repent and save them. Are you born again? We shouldn't worry who got saved or went to hell. We should just love Jesus with all our strength and bear fruit. We must be born with water and spirit. We must show 9 fruits of the Holy Ghost. We must share the good news to the world and bring souls to Jesus. Do not lean left or right but go straight to where Jesus guides you to go every moment and second. I bless you that you will not lean too right. or of course not left either. But keep your focus on Jesus and his kingdom. When he comes you don't want to be spit out because you were luke warm or not loving him. If you love him you keep his commandments and also you love and forgive your enemies. We cannot do this. How can we love and forgive our enemies? Only the Holy Spirit inside us can make this possible. So please be reborn with water and Spirit. Please walk in the Holy Spirit. Protestantism is more superficial because they only take account of ink on the bible pages and personal interpretation without any authority. I don't mean that as a dig, but that's what they've been exposed to There's so much more that supports it and defines it and brings the greater depth and beauty. I was a revert, basically no catechesis. It was during the 60s-80s when protestantism took over the church, which was NOT supposed to happen, but Pope didn't realize what was going on in churches around the world, all due to the Concilium from Vatican II Council with evil Bugnini at the helm, having 5 Protestants to give suggestions on OUR liturgy. A one-liner about “upon this rock“ doesn’t create what we see in the Catholic Church today. So yes, when we are side-by-side with believers of other traditions, we do need to get back to scripture. And scripture does not point unilaterally to the Catholic Church. It points to things we are doing right and things we are not doing right, and all the churches have error. For example, the gates of hell are making an awful lot of progress against us because catholic leaders chose to withhold powerful knowledge from the people for hundreds of years, and it took a bloody reformation for people to have access to scripture again. To Challenge the things they have been told that we’re not right. This doesn’t make Martin Luther any kind of perfect Saint. The Protestants have had their own failings. If the church leaders of that time had not held so fast to beliefs that were man-made and self-serving in many ways, we wouldn’t even need a Protestant branch of faith. When the gates of hell can keep us distracted, arguing over how the other isn’t following scripture (versus everyone just admitting when they’re not following scripture and then repenting), we could’ve been doing the work Jesus told us to do, each believer, not just the experts, the priests, the popes etc. And yet the knowledge and wisdom of these things has fallen by the wayside for most believers: heal the sick, cast out demons, preach the gospel, disciple new believers, Love one another, live humbly, (and that includes the stinking rich religious leaders in various churches), avoid the appearance of evil, pray without ceasing, pray in the spirit, meditate on The word of God very very regularly, all the things. When we are all engaged in these things, we will all have so much in common. We shouldn’t be wasting time asking Mary for favors, disobeying God by praying repetitious prayers like the pagans do using the rosary. It’s about the most opposite thing that we could possibly do to the very first commandment God ever gave us. Having a rich heritage of “Catholicism” or “Protestantism” and having fabulous architecture and graven images you call art, no, none of that matters.… Unless it directly informs our obedience.

I'm a Baptist to Catholic convert, and what initially drew me to Catholicism was attending Mass for the first time and being shocked at how much Scripture is read.
For anyone who doesn't know, the first 20-30 minutes of Mass is just reading the Scriptures and singing the Psalms.
Every Sunday Mass includes a reading from the Gospel; typically proceeded by a reading from the Old Testament, a Psalm singing, and a reading from the New Testament.
(I say "typically proceeded by", because sometimes there are two New Testament readings instead of a Old and a New.)

Catholics know the Gospel very well. That’s why we baptize our children, confess our sins to our priests, eat the Body and drink the Blood of Jesus Christ, get Confirmed in the Holy Spirit, take vows of Matrimony or Holy Orders, and receive Last Rites. After all, Jesus built a Church - on the rock of Peter - and instituted these 7 sacraments in His Church so that, through these sacraments, we may grow in virtue and holiness. Oh, and He also gave us His own mother as our mother too: the Blessed Virgin Mary.

However, I know many wonderful Catholics, people that love the Lord. But I also know many that were raised Catholic and now hate God. Most fall in the latter group. Religion versus personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I always said I would make a horrible Catholic and a horrible Mormon, with too much religiosity and insufficient focus on the relationship with Christ through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Plus, the Pope thing is not Scriptural. Calling him holy father, as if he is God. Wrong. So so wrong.

But do we base truth on studying history (what people did), or studying what God said to do?
Have you studied Daniel and Revelation, where God warns us about the church going from pure to apostate? Paul telling us in Thessalonians about THE Great apostasy from the truth? Is history or the bible the determiner of truth? Speaking of history, the papacy killing dissenters is the history of Catholicism. Not allowing people to have a bible in their own language is the history of Catholicism. Burning people at the stake is the history of Catholicism. Venerating saints, a priest can really turn bread and wine into the REAL body and blood of Christ. Please provide Bible justification for any of this.
Satan can work miracles to make it appear as if God is condoning what you are doing. When Moses was in front of Pharaoh, Pharaoh's magicians did miracles, too.
      This is dangerous ground.
That's why we judge these things by the WORD.

I left the Catholic Church, after 12 years of Catholic private schools for one reason: It became inconvenient and I had become lukewarm. I came back at about the age of 33 (coincidence? I think not). And I came back because the Catholic Church has the BEST teaching on the meaning of human suffering and salvific power of uniting your sufferings with the Cross of Jesus Christ. After I had tip-of-the-iceberg understanding all other Doctrines, especially the Eucharist, fell into place.

I so agree. I'm Orthodox and when I had my 8th child her godparents are a couple where the husband is Eastern European with a firm Orthodox background despite communism. His wife is a convert from protestant faith. She says it will take me many years to really grow an orthodox mindset . The concept of suffering/healing and spiritual gifts. I have a chronic illness and my mindset was fixed on sickness not ever being God's will from my time as a protestant. That pain and suffering aren't God's will for his people. I suffered for years. I prayed, fasted, seek/saught deliverance and I haven't been healed in my flesh. Soooooo what's a girl to do. Catholicism and Orthodoxy show how through scripture and tradition God often allows suffering for a greater good. Namely salvation, my making it to heaven, growing in virtue. I have accepted and surrendered my suffering to my Lord. Of course I want physical healing yet, I surrender my will. I felt like sh*t, like a bad Christian. God must not love me. I'm still sick, I still suffer. So I now understand my daughters godmother's statement about how Catholic/Orthodox faith is a lifestyle. I got saved in a protestant church, God really used good people in that "camp" to really teach me and touch me with his word and truth. Yet entering an Orthodox Church, experiencing the Liturgy, eventually consuming my Lord like he commanded in the eucharist brings me closer to him than anything else. Of course scripture is central and is a light upon my path leading me to all truth. Every service is all scripture! I loved Church as a protestant but always felt it was bit to self centered (no offense). I was a priestess as a pagan and though I was unknowingly serving satan. I gave my all. I was a true and ardent devotee. I didn't experience this same reverence and devotion in most Church services. It was getting a good word, the pastor was relly preaching today. When I'm in liturgy I'm truly worshipping God. Literally! All the hymns and prayers. Everything is centered on him the triune God and my letting go all earthly cares to love and worship him. To top it off he gives himself to me as I consume his body and blood. It's otherworldly. With much love to my fellow Christians this is such a blessing in my life. I can't explain how remarkable it is. God will settle all these differences (denominational) when he comes back for us. Maranatha. God bless

Jesus already suffered and died for our sins, so that we don't need to. This practise makes a mockery of the redemptive power of Jesus. Jesus can save us from dying in our sin, but he promises that if you die in sin, then you have no hope... hope of glory and God's kingdom is only while you are alive. How you die is how you remain.

While I grew up and attended Catholic Church/school my entire life, I am not Catholic nor Protestant but merely a believer and follower of the word of God.
Jesus came to teach on the Kingdom of God and fight against man made religion. He says in Matthew 5:17-18
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”
Sadly, both Protestant and Catholicism completely abandon the instructions of the Old Testament and the Prophets which Jesus himself says will not disappear until all has been fulfilled, which has not all happened yet. Most Christians are embedded in human made traditions and religions when God says that we shall neither add nor subtract from his laws in Deuteronomy. We are still practicing man made and pagan rooted holidays like Christmas and Easter (Christmas is not Jesus’ birthday but pagan god birthdays and Easter is a fertility goddess- have you ever wondered why we are teaching children bunnies lay eggs l) and are blind to what these appointed times are called and how significant they are in understanding the Gospel. (look at Leviticus 23)
I am beyond appreciative that Candace, George and Allie had this discussion but a greater one is to be had: What does God think and want from us? What does Jesus mean by Mathew 5:17-18? We do not have to go far to understand this for it’s in His word.

You can check out the Jesuit oath and it is spine chilling!
And yes, the doctrine of Christ is all that there is. Jesus' word, written in red, is the final authority. He has risen, yet He's still hanging on the cross in the Catholic religion! Without Me, death of the body and the soul would claim the entire human race
      Tuesday, January 6th, 2015 @ 19:30
My dearly beloved daughter, when a man turns his back on Me, I weep with great sorrow, but I Am Patient and Forgiving. If he rejects My Word and no longer shows love to others, which he would not do were he to follow in My Footsteps, this causes Me great pain. Still, I Am Patient in the hope he will come back to Me. It is when a man steals souls from Me, and leads them into eternal darkness, that all vengeance is Mine and I will inflict upon him a great punishment. This punishment can be in the form of suffering which will, if he is fortunate to accept his lot with humility, save him.
My Mercy is boundless, but when I am defiled, through acts of great cruelty, committed against God’s children, My Anger is to be feared. Know that I will punish My enemies, but this is for their own good and for the salvation of all those with whom they come into contact. Is there any end to which those who despise Me, My Word and My Plan of Salvation; that the proud, arrogant and the ignorant will not stoop to? The answer is that their wickedness is inexhaustible.
Never before has the love amongst men been so lacking, as it is now. Not one soul alive in the world is immune to the influence of Satan. Those who mistakenly believe that they are in My Favour, but who treat others harshly, will feel the brunt of My Hand. My Patience is dwindling; My Heart heavy and My Desire to save those who try to destroy others, weary.
The cunning of the evil one is beyond your understanding. He will convince even those with the strongest faith to offend Me, through grievous sin, and those with little faith to succumb, even further, into the depths of despair. No one is safe from Satan and unless you pray for My Mercy, offer personal sacrifices to Me, then the destruction of souls will escalate.
Millions are being lost to Me at this time and yet not many Christians understand the necessity of prayer. Prayer alone will destroy the influence of the devil and I ask that you increase the time you spend in prayer to weaken the grip he has over the human race.
Without My Intervention many millions more souls would be lost. Without My Mercy many of those destined for eternal darkness would never see My Face. Without My Presence in the Holy Eucharist, there would be no life - life of the body as well as the soul. Without Me, death of the body and the soul would claim the entire human race but, because of Me, death will no longer be present in the new world to come. Because I defeated death through My Resurrection, you too will defeat it. Death will not exist in My New Kingdom on earth. The body and the soul will be a living union - a Gift, which must not be rejected.
You must never forget My Promise - all those who are with Me and in Me will have everlasting life.
      Your Jesus

Also, of all the people I pictured Candace being married to, when she talked about her husband, I was not expecting him to look and sound like Doctor Who! :D that is awesome

I would just like to say saying a Catholic never heard the Gospel and turned Protestant as a result is the biggest inaccuracy I have ever heard. The Gospel is read at EVERY mass in addition to at least two other longer Bible passages, usually one from the Old Testament and the other a New Testament writing from one of the disciples. If a Catholic didn’t know the Bible or what the Gospel is, that’s at THEIR OWN FAULT for not paying attention during church. People who say the Catholic Church goes against the Bible know absolutely nothing about the Catholic Church.

There is only ONE GOSPEL for today !! It is found in only one book of the KJV BIBLE !! If you as a Catholic have heard the Gospel for today, then tell me the book, chapter and verse or verses where it can be found in the KJV Bible !! Here is a hint for you .... The Gospel for today rejects the need for the Catholic confessional !! Thus, it rejects the need for a so called Priest !! If your church ask you to attend confession, then they reject the Gospel for today !!

Every person I’ve ever known who was raised by one Catholic and one Protestant parent has ended up agnostic or atheist and doesn’t go to church at all. And herein lies the problem with inter-faith marriage, which is forbidden in scripture, both in the old and new testaments.

I was born Protestant but now I am a non denominational born again Christian who believes in the apostolic church. I believe Christ crucified and resurrected for my salvation as a central tenant of my faith above all else. My hang ups with Catholicism are:
    - Papal infallibility
    - Ritualism and symbols (feels like idolatry)
    - Elevation of Mary's position and importance in the Christian faith.
    - Confession of sin to priests who are no less and cannot be less sinful than me. Can't find the rationale for this.

Agree with all of your points. Also: the Catholic church removed the 2nd commandment (about making idols) and split out , they call Mary an "eternal virgin" (we know that Jesus had siblings), they refer to Mary as the "Queen of Heaven", they call the Pope "vicar" which is basically saying he is an earthly representative of Jesus, they believe in purgatory, and that you can 'buy' your way out of it. Lots of non-Biblical stuff.

It’s not that no one went to heaven who was Catholic, it’s that the priests who knew they were making up doctrine and misleading people weren’t going to heaven. The law is written on our hearts, and we are all sinners.

The Italian Church was so loving by comparison and the Madonna with Child is so timeless and beautiful and representative of family and of life itself. Catholics get the lot PLUS the most beautiful Renaissance frescoes and stained glass.

to the first question: I believe that those people who live faithfully in the truth and knowledge they have, will be saved, no matter of theyre catholic, Protestant ect. So in the time between Jesus and Luther, faithful people were absolutely saved! (Also don’t forget about the waldenses, Huguenots, the first Christians ect.) but once new light, new Bible truth is discovered, we should absolutely follow it!
