Love your vids mate!! You inspire me 100% if I could get half as fit as you would help my diving a lot lol! Keep up the fantastic work, I appreciate how much effort it is to do what you do little lone film and edit it on top of that!
Just recently found your channel and subscribed , I've been watching loads ! I've gotta ask , as a Yank who knows very little about New Zealand ( I'd love to visit ) , one thing I've got from watching Shark week , is that you have some very aggressive Great White Sharks . Have you ever had any sketchy situations , or are they rare where you dive ? Thanks , love your content .
Hey there! Cheers for the Sub. Shark week has some very manipulated videos (exaggerated and often untrue) as I have personal experience with being on Shark week myself with an encounter with some angry Bronze Whaler Sharks (otherwise known as Copper sharks). The main population of Great Whites in New Zealand is at the bottom of the country near Stuart Island and out around Chattham Islands. They are encountered however, all around the country, but sightings are very uncommon. I have never seen one in the water myself. They do have plenty food to eat here and attacks are very very rare.
You ever dived in Kaikoura or Christchurch? Shore diving in kaikoura you can see upwards of 20 butterfish on one drop. And Christchurch is absolutely choca with humongous crays. Hard to get the right vis (especially in Chch) but bloody good diving when it’s on
Yeah I was kicking myself for not doing the same on the Friday, unreal conditions. This was the Saturday where it started to turn. Slim weather windows this winter so far!
Mate, put the Pro on your head so you got two hands haha so much drama but no blood, disappointing haha. You must be super fit getting in and out on the kayak, I know the fins help but still tiring. Can you do an abalone cook up and show us the smoked kingfish you get done. Love your vids, thanks for all the hard work and great presentation Ollie, dive safe, have a buddy with you at all times mate.
Another awesome video bro, subbed. Been trying to get a fish for about 6months now in Brisbane hard learning from scratch alone, I have a kayak, 'Im guessing you anchor the kayak out deeper and cruise around the coast with the reel gun and you dont use the kayak as a float? Ive tried to use mine as a float but Im not keen to get close to the rocks (where the fish are) and Im worried if I anchor it either Ill get taken by current too far from it or the anchor with dislodge and I'll lose it. thinking about selling it and getting a float boat that I wouldnt mind smashing up against the shore. Wondering what you do, Thanks man
Cheers Shane! For the Mojority of my Kayak Dives, I just tow it around until I find a very fishy area where I'll then anchor it and work the surrounding area. If you have a appropriate sized anchor and chain to keep it in place then no need to worry. I like the Kayak as I feel a lot more safe if I paddle out to some rocks/islands with big current etc, so that if I get swept away from my spot I can just jump on and paddle back (connected to speargun in these situations)
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit thanks Ollie, love your vids bro wish I had of discovered spearing while I grew up in Auckland. Maybe then I'd have some mates to spear with haha people on the West Island are a bit weird
As always, really enjoyed watching your adventure Ollie! Question though…do you ever get concerned for shallow water blackout and the like when diving solo?
Hey mate cheers for the comment. I have never been concerned or afraid of such. I have done a few courses and with years of experience I know my body very well and never push it even close my known limits. Do your homework and don't live in fear!
Ollie the pig fish looks a lot like a female pacific sheeps head that under 18 inches they’re female and once they get over that size or not enough males around they change. An they are soooooo good to eat!!!! Makes get huge !!!

Awesome! Lucky place to be living! Cheers mate.
Sweet bro you down the bowt ramp today?
I know the spot. Next to my family batch in the big bay just south of where you are. Beautiful place.
Awesome! what a place to have a batch! One of my favourite areas
Mean bro 🤙🏽👌🏽
Cheers!

Been waiting for your next vid cheers enjoy these
Cheers, Have more on the way soon
Ur the man
Too much my bro, that was awesome.
Cheers Bro!
interesting suit from Moray!
Awesome video as usual, was it very cold?
Not too bad! Just starting to cool off now though.
Been hanging out for the next mission ✊🏽

Cheers Martin, nah, easy as to get in and out of kayak, get some momentum and good technique.
nice bro - love the yak missions but they are taxing on the body, make sure you take some snacks and electrolytes with ya bro.
Cheers bro. Yeah I do need to improve that part of my diving adventures!
Yeah I reckon dragging your kayak, dive weights etc would get the heart rate up more than your coffee. Nice vid again…
It’s more cause caffeine raises your resting heart rate and reduces your mammalian dive reflex
Haha yes very true Tim!
Epic vid as always bro , yeow 🤙🏼 where’d you get the wetsuit from that is sick af 🔥
Cheers Bro

Thanks Bro!

@@olliecraig-primalpursuit good answer…I’m relatively inexperienced so it’s often on my mind when diving on my own. Time to take a course methinks!
Hey Ollie do you ever grab some kinas for a feed or do you not eat them.
mean as vid bro
Thanks Jason
Ollie the pig fish looks a lot like a female pacific sheeps head that under 18 inches they’re female and once they get over that size or not enough males around they change. An they are soooooo good to eat!!!! Makes get huge !!!
They are definitely very tasty!
Started watching your videos a while ago. Never really bothered to subscribe to anybody haha thought I should now. Like your videos bro 👌 what software do you use to edit?
Haha cheers mate! I use Final Cut Pro for editing
I know the spot too nice watercress patch there
Oh really! thats always a bonus
How long can you hold your breath for ?
Or very long. And depends on the day/conditions lots of variables etx
How are the seabuck vs ruku fins?
Have only dived in them once, Will need at least a few dives to make a comparison!
I was bloody kicking myself i did t pull a sickie those 2 days
it s torturing just to see drag that kayak on the rocks man
Built tough these Viking kayaks can handle a beating
Where'd you get that wetsuit bro? Its sick!
You using a 5mm in winter?
Yeah a reasonably new 5mm is usually fine. I did wear a 7mm jacket last winter but I might just be a bit soft!
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit fully understandable haha
That suit it fire bro would love to get my mits on one or will you be interested in selling it if it's still in your hands bro cant seem to find them online
Don’t have it bro. Don’t think they ever went into production

Pwoh pre flash gloves ae
Haha Alien technology gloves for grabbing Crays!
Aren't you scared of sharks in that murky water? I hate spearing in murky water and wont do it most of the time due to the fear of sharks.
Not a known spot for G white sightings so I'm not bothered if a Bronze Whaler comes in to have a look!
just wanted to stop you at 5 minutes 30, get yourself a pair of crocks mate, will handle any situation and you can even use them as a float
Haha OK! I will look into it!
Shame about the visibility, but glad you still got a feed of fish.
Cheers mate. Yeah, can't always have mint vis!
@olliecraig-primalpursuit It seems like a healthy environment - why don't you see shsrks?
