    19:03 That place is so special so sacred and is why you were so at peace, You are a true Kaitiaki of the moana brother Ollie the way you show the highest respect towards the ocean and sea life is unreal bro, If everybody was as conservative as you are there will be fish for the future .

      Cheers brother. It really was a special experience there. I’ve heard stories of people feeling spooked or whatever from the history of the place but it was one of the most calming, peaceful places I have ever been to, hard to describe. I guess some people pick up on different things intuitively and maybe they just sensed a g white while swimming! But yes, a special Sacred place for sure man 🤙

    Incredible place..Was up there 45 years ago.. A a huge school of Kings and Kahawai boiling the size of half beach...pushed up Piper and Herring at high tide..and huge piper jumped onto the sand to avoid them..we got about 15 odd..were of a size you never see these days..about 700grams a piece and 40 cms..Seriously..No BS...It was in day before cameras being cheap so unfortunately never documented it...our whole family of 7 were only ones there...I was only 12, but still can remember it..one of few childhood deep memories still have...Dad worked up a bbq and we feasted on them..beautiful and fresh...hard to beat fresh big piper...Sadly never got up there again. I remember Mum saying don`t swim..us kids never got it..but later on about 20 years ago, she told us they had seen 2 huge fish..suspected marlin..or most likely white sharks they had apparently seen in amongst the school....Truly incredible there....Can see its incredible diving there...yet..indeed that part of NZ is well known for Great Whites..you will not see many divers there, even in summer...I think you do have guts going diving out there..on flip side, I guess you'll never know if those bid whites turn up...if get my drift ...By the way , Love the vids...Best of luck and keep up great videos!

    Oh, now I need to pull my kayaks out and hit the coast. I’m in Northern California and every now and then we get the ghosts of the deep out here White Seabass
    I think they come up because of the El Niño‘s, a friend of mine, Nate saw two go past swung his gun, slowly saw a flash out of his left eye barely enough time to react and pulled the trigger and pulled up a 4 1/2 foot White Seabass…. speargun at 60 feet. It reminds me of where you’re at in this video. Great memories my friend thank you.

    Fantastic video, hey just wondering what length the bungee float line is that you connect the speargun to the front of the kayak? Also what brand is it? if you have a link to the same float line that would be great.

    • @olliecraig-primalpursuit
      @olliecraig-primalpursuit  Год назад +1

      Hey mate that float line is a Riffe Bungee (not hard line) and only short (around 10m). Not ideal length a 15 would be great. Bungee actually not ideal for around reefs, as can get cut. Hard line more suited. I just don’t have anything else currently. Cheers. Lots of hard lines out there some shit but some good ones which will
      Be cheaper than the riffe

    Ollie. Back in the day I ran a float line clipped to the bow and then clipped to my weight belt. Meant I could use a reel gun. Towed the kayak. Just make sure the paddle is clipped off. Was perfect even snooping. I ditched the anchor. No need. If I was working an area l would clip off the floating to a shallow reef. Try it.
