- Follow along as my Pacific Coast Bicycle Tour comes to a conclusion at the Peg House in Leggett California. I'm familiar with this stretch of road as I've done multiple car camping trips in this area as a child, and as a father. Reflecting on the changes in the area is bittersweet. A huge thank you to my friend Larry for driving 4 hours north to pick me up, and a huge thank you to those who have commented on the videos in this series!
Thanks for taking us with you! 🙏
That was really great, loved the details of the trip and camps, and the stories of your connections to the route. Very inspiring.
Fantastic video series of your adventures, Graham - super enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Really enjoyed watching your tour. Quite a few chuckles and wit and beautiful scenery!
Safe travels my friend...
Best regards!
I just watched all 8 episodes. Really enjoyed watching. In September 2022 I will be riding the ACA Northern Pacific Coastal tour. Your videos really helped me be inspired to look forward to that ride. I live in Mount Vernon,Wa. Will not be doing video, but I will be updating my Crazy Guy a bike journal during my journey. Thanks again.
Thanks for tuning in and commenting Tom, I very much appreciate it! I think Sept. is probably the best time to ride the coast, less traffic and still nice weather. MV seems like a good cycling locale too. Wishing you all the best on your 2022 adventure!
We will be waiting on your next adventure
Wow! I really enjoyed this series! I have yet to travel the west coast.
But watching your videos has definitely gotten my attention.
Thanks for taking us along on this adventure.
Thanks for commenting! I hope you get a chance to visit the West Coast, there's a lot of good stuff to see and experience.
Thanks for recording this series. We have very similar mileages for our respective bike touring rides. Being in my late 50s I prefer the 40-50 mile range with an emphasis on enjoyment instead of crushing huge miles and Strava records. I rode the GAP and C&O Canal trails from Pittsburgh to DC in about 8 days compared to some guys doing it in 3-5 days. One fella I met did the whole 380 miles in 24 hours. That certainly isn't me. I am interested in doing the entire ACA Pacific Coast trail next year so I love videos like yours that provide insight into the route and camping locations. Thanks again for sharing your ride.
Thank you for commenting Jeff! I totally agree. Touring is not a race and stats don't really matter much to me. Grinding out 100 mile days is not for me. It may sound cliche' but Bicycle Touring really is about the Journey and not the Destination.
I can't wait to check out the peg house!!!👍 this time i'll have a bite to eat and a beer!! Is the chandelier tree still there?
I enjoyed watching your series. Brings back memories of doing the same ride, but that was back in '76 or'77. Like the Rick Steves t-shirt, by the way.
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks for commenting.
I really enjoyed this series. Thank you for documenting your journey and for sharing it with us.
Thank you for commenting, I've enjoyed quite a few of your videos too! I'll look forward to seeing what you're up to in 22.

Loved it! I just watched this from Astoria to the end this morning and I'm actually planning on doing the 101 coast route this summer from where I live in Astoria Oregon to where I grew up in Santa Rosa California. 😎🤘
Thanks for the comment! The Oregon Coast has some of the best riding I’ve ever done. Astoria is very nice, wish I had spent a day off there. Best of wishes on your planned trip!
Yep, great series, ya did good. Here is some advice from some one who rides in heat. Wet towel around your neck. Yep, its a great thing. Plus, when it dries out, gives you an excuse to stop and soak it again. And yes, Gatorade is your best friend on a hot day. Learned that back in 2012 when I did RAGBRAI. Any ways, you did good. Wish you'd taken a day in Newport, that's my most favorite place on the West Coast.
Hi James. Thanks for wet towel tip and kind words. Yeah. I didn't take any days off on this ride and probably should have. Newport would have been a great spot to take a zero. Next time!
I enjoyed the whole series, thanks! Hope to do it sometime.
Thank you Elizabeth! I hope you are able to ride some or all of the coast route. It is truly spectacular.
It's not easy to ride in heat. How was the night, hot too or cools down nicely at night?
What kind is bike are you riding ?
In this video I am riding a Novara Randonee.
