Sorry to hear about your new bike, Graham! That is frustrating. Happy riding anyway my friend and good for you holding on to your old faithful. I sold my REI Randonee and regret it. Safe travels and thanks for sharing your travels on RUclips.

Thanks Jeff. Yeah my hub started making noise at the end our Utah tour. Figured I had a pebble in the tire tread but it turned into hub rebuild under warranty. Just got it back yesterday and all is good. Hope you are enjoying the Fall in New Mexico.

That Click, is in the part of the hub the cassette attaches too. And it is not fixable. You will need a whole new rear wheel. Or at least a new hub, laced into the old rim. I've had that click click, happen to me once. This is one reason I hate cassette's. The old Free Wheel system, every thing was there, you unscrewed it and replaced the whole thing. Just curious, why didn't you put the wheel from your old bike, on your new bike?

Hey James, thanks for commenting! I probably should have explained my wheel predicament better. My new bike has Thru Axels, a Belt Drive and Internal Gearbox. My old bike has a more standard 3x10 drivetrain, with a Derailleur and Quick Release hubs. So their wheels are not compatible.Tthat's what I get for buying a fancy new bike. ☹ruclips.net/video/E7-QMRVesAE/видео.html

@@TheOutsidePerks Ah, got it. I am a trained Bike mechanic, and I feel like I need to go back to school. This whole belt drive thing is so different. I still use a chain, mostly because I ride a long wheel base recumbent. I hope you can get things figured out soon.

      @@TheOutsidePerks Oh man...BUMMER!
Sad to hear of a mechanical failure on such a nice bike!
      Sounds like my kinda....."luck"........
I don't know why it is, but from my experiences in life, it seems like the cheaper things have more quality than the more expensive things. Food is the same way. Take soup for example, I get my groceries from Walmart and buy the Great Value soup. Campbell's soup is great but I swear, I can't taste too much difference between the Campbell's soup and Walmarts Great Value soups. Tastes just as good, if not better than the Campbell's. Car parts are the same way. I bought the more expensive name brand parts that promised better "quality"........
      Better quality my a*"!!!
The part was junk and didn't even last a month. So I went to another national auto parts store to try my 'luck" hint, hint😃 and bought the SAME type of part for about half the cost and have not had a single problem at all with it.........
It's been my experience that the "cheaper" things seem to be if better quality in parts and workmanship.....
One would think that the more you spend, the better the product is.
I don't know what is going on nowadays. Perhaps the low end guys stepped up their game and the big league players took their game down a notch or two.........

Yup, there’s been a little “deja by”, I’ve had similar experiences with guitars and cars. Buy the latest and greatest and you also get the latest and greatest complications. That said, I’ve got my new bike sorted now and it is definitely a step up from my old bike, comfortable and capable. 🚴🏻🚴‍♂️
