    • @VegetaLF7
      @VegetaLF7 3 года назад +74

      Ironically it's the other way around. He was originally just a dude with a freeze gun and that's about it. His backstory was changed for Batman: The Animated Series which gave him the terminally ill wife and falling in a vat of chemicals which froze him (seriously, Gotham, put some lids on your chemical vats!). This revamped background proved so popular that it was adopted as Freeze's official backstory after that, not just in the comics but here and the Arkham games too. It's just one of several things that Batman: The Animated Series contributed to the Batman mythos that forever changed things, even retroactively affecting the comics too.

      Oh, he died in absolute shame, seeing his most famous creation, the Dark Knight, candy-flossed into a live-action spinoff film of the '60s Batman TV show (not that that was bad in any way). Look at the crap in this film. Batman and Robin going to live events as their superhero alter-egos, Batman carrying a credit card (!), Robin acting like a whiny bitch, Mr. Freeze telling ice puns left and right, Bane as an expy of Solomon Grundy or the Incredible Hulk, Poison Ivy and her innuendos, Bruce Wayne using his normal voice for both himself and Batman (a la Adam West), campy humor without a sense of fun, Batgirl is Alfred's niece (we all know she's Commissioner Gordon's daughter), Coolio having a cameo as a banker, Mr. Freeze leading a sing-along of "Snow Miser" from The Year Without a Santa Claus when he should be RESCUING HIS FREAKIN' WIFE FROM THE DEAD...you get the idea. The only actor who even tries to make it work is Michael Gough as Alfred, and even then, Alfred doesn't have that much presence in this film.

    As campy as this film was, Arnold really had his funny moments 😅😅 He's supposed to be reduced to living at subzero environments but he can still smoke a burning cigar 🤣🤣 Goes to show how much Arnie loved his cigars lol But I still think if this film had been done with the exact same story but with Tim Burton's style and Michael Keaton as Batman, it would've been a hit. The story was still very deep and emotional, focusing on Freeze's desperation to save his wife, and Robin starting to chafe under Batman's leadership like in the comics. Loss was an integral part of the story. With better directing and acting, that would've saved the movie.
