MKHBD here calls out samsung on settling but Apple has been releasing almost same looking since 2017 (iPhone x to 14). same candy bar with a little different notches . ain’t that settling as well ?? at least Samsung has options from foldables to candy bar phones.
It means that you do not need to update your phone every year; but for new buyers or people who were planning to buy these phones, it's still a good option especially with an increased base storage.
Even normal phones are not meant for upgrading every year. Companies market them well and people fall for it. You can easily keep a phone for 3 years or even more than 4 like I did. Now the fold 5 is a good purchase for me.
As ridiculous as the Fold may seem to some, I'm glad to see other phone manufacturers other than Apple doing the trend-setting. I got the Fold 5 recently, and have been loving it. They're really blurring the line between phones and small form factor tablets. Skipping multiple generations after I got my S10 was definitely worth it.
Man i've been skipping multiple generations phones since i got my s10 too lol. Been thinking to get either the flip or the fold, but the zfold is really uncomfortable for me to type when its folded, it is small for me. Im thinking to get the zflip 5
I think they might be preserving form factor to make it easier for front-end programmers to develop optimized apps for the foldable, since it is a very niche display config
@@manuzarkUsers of an expensive phone are more likely to spend more. Now this isn't true for everyone (I don't really spend much myself) but i think it's a decent enough incentive. Foldables are only getting more popular.
@@SameedChowdhurykind of. Most people hate the z-flip after a few months. When you work wireless majority come back and try and get rid of the phone as soon as they can. Especially the flip.
@@SameedChowdhuryNo what manuzark said was correct. Companies have little incentive to optimize apps for such a small number of devices. Unless you know how many of these they sold in total?
As someone who was rocking the fold 3. This does look and feel like a significant improvement. It’s subtle shades of grey between generations, but it is getting better year on year.
You would definitely see a reason to upgrade coming from the Fold 3. It was a big improvement from the 3 to the 4 for me but you will see an even bigger improvement from the 3 to the 5.
I'm probably gonna upgrade my fold3. Got mega issues with the screen when unfolded. Had to replace the screen protector 3 times and it's cracking/bubbling in the middle followed by a huge mechanical bulge at the bottom left side of the unfolded screen. I welcome the Fold5.
I like the front screen's ratio better on samsung fold than other foldable, it feels compact and usable with one hand, at least on the fold 4 where in fold 3 it is too narrow I think, but what I don't like though is the square aspect ratio on the inside screen, when you watch a video with normal 16:9 or wider it has a big black bar on top and bottom. I'm using fold 3 btw.
Got my Z5 Fold yesterday, been a Galaxy user since Galaxy 2 and the transition from a traditional smartphone formfactor to this is like the coolest thing ever when it comes to gadgets!
Samsung is literally every single huge company right now. They settle for what's safe and we depend on small companies to bring us something fun and then the big dogs take the idea and combine it with endless money to make a new version of it.
Its the Apple effect that we Android fans used to harp on about for so long - why make improvements when you can settle and still sell millions, consumers are the ones who lose
@@BladeV8 sorry to break it to you but foldable phones where a thing way before foldable screens even existed, Motorola invented the concept back in the 90', and the bendable screens weren't invented by Samsung either. The only "first" they got us combining a bunch of existing things into a phone. Basically, it's like the iPhone. Everything was already invented, they just needed someone to mix it together into a phone.
Honestly the Galaxy Mega brings back so many memories, I remember how shocked people were at its massive size, asking who would want a phone so big? And look at us now. One thing I’ll give to Samsung they are willing to take risks. And many of them have been fun and interesting and had great potential if they kept refining them. Hope tech gets fun and interesting again for the average person soon.
Samsungs had so great features that eventually got patched out with updates... I remember all the, at first gimmicky features of my S4, you could hover your finger to preview stuff for example, got patched out with update... The universal control with the ir blaster got patched out also... I could live without these, but some old features could really work notlw that we have the hardware to support... These are minor stuff that only a few people used I think, but the S4 finger hover was nice... My S7 also had squeeze sensor, like the Pixel (I think that was the squeeze for assistant phone), but was never used, it was only in the maintenance menu I got really mad when they patched out adjustable transparency for floating windows, it made my life so easy multiple times, now it's gone... (been gone for about a year or so...) I loved samsung so much, now I'm thinking trying iPhone as the features I held dear got patched by Sammy, so sad...
@@ptztmm have you tried goodlock/finelock? It customizes your phone even more. With it I can make my sound volume panel translucent. Not sure about floating windows, but they might have it given the amount of options they have.
The fold phones have always been so unique and fun to look at, but I'll stick to my note phones. The Galaxy S23 ultra is just such a great phone. No reason to upgrade or change for many years
@@skylovescars69420 I just pre ordered the fold 5, the protection plan was a little over $7 a month so I obviously took it. Worth it in my opinion being as no matter what happens my $1800 phone is covered
i use a s22 ultra but im dying to get rid of it( i love this so much too) , ever since i dropped it in December from the attic to 2nd floor, took a hard hit and i guess antenna is loose?? i have connection issues at times lol
Still rocking the note 20 ultra. Not really seen anything (other than *maybe* the folds. But even then, still doesn't really feel worth it) that really make me even think about upgrading.
I had the Z Flip 5 for a week, really liked it and couldn't find any faults. The small screen was a good novelty but you could only use a small number of apps on it as well as the widgets mentioned in the video. I would've liked the calculator to be one of those pre-integrated widgets though, or at least one of the supported apps. I only sent the Flip back so I could swap it for the Fold. I'd highly recommend both.
I wonder if Samsung is holding out in anticipation for a strong competitor. Then they'll start releasing amazing updates like a better battery, better camera, and an S-Pen slot on the phone..
But why would they do that? If you come out with a killer foldable now you can really corner the market. Waiting till someone is a threat isn't a good marketing strategy.
@@palmermoynihan2628 it is if the stuff theyre holding back is killer and they save money doing incremental updates for 3-5 years while charging the same money tooling and costs go down, margins go up. amassing buffer of warchest to compete on price or features when a competitor comes out the moment one does, samsung wouldve milked the market dry in the interim. Why raise costs for no reason also u forget everyone buys their foldable display tech from samsung, so nobody is going to compete without samsung releasing better foldable display tech. or at the very least they will be able to match it. So others have to compete with formfactor, which google and oppo have tried without much success so i dont see anyone even coming close unless apple does it through pure brand recognition. until then samsung is going to milk the market
I needed 3 significant upgrades from the fold4 to make this my next phone, and seeing only the hinge upgrade implemented means I am happy to wait another year. Let's see some battery/camera/stylus upgrades Samsung!
100%, and I think that's healthy to be honest. I really don't expect *drastic* massive innovations every twelve months. Solid meaningful incremental improvements add up, and the hinge is important with these devices.
I think the bigger outside screen is the most important improvement for a flip phone and one that was definitely needed for the flip 5 to stay relevant, but I'd have loved to see the fold 5's outer screen change to a more normal aspect ratio. That is imo pretty important for the usability of its outer display
For me, the "normal" aspect ratio makes most phones really wide. I don't have the smallest hands or anything, but find these modern 6+ inch behemoth display phones kinda awkward to hold let alone operate with one hand. So I appreciate the width of the Fold 4 is closer to an iPhone 12 Mini, but much taller.
I want a 16:9 aspect ratio or anything closer personally. Black bars just aren't it. And most content made for a 21:9 type aspect ratio looks better with black bars anyways. I personally don't watch movies either
I personally really like how narrow the front screen is. It's perfect for one handed texting and typing, or looking at things that are meant to be tall, skinny, long, extra wide, etc. If you want to watch content open the phone up, that's what the screen is for. There's no reason to have a phone that has an outside and inside screen that are extremely similar with almost idential aspect ratios, they should be different so it serves more purposes. Also there were a few big internal upgrades not mentioned here - LPDDR5 upgraded to LPDDR5X, UFS 3.1 upgraded to UFS 4.0, Bluetooth 5.2 upgraded to 5.3, Qualcomm X70 chip with faster 5G (par of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 upgrade), and the hinge changed the dimensions to be 15% smaller when folded, definitely not "the same dimensions" and deserved more than a quick 2 second mention.
I’ve always used iPhones but really like how the zflip looks. I might even get a zflip in a few years when looking to upgrade, but my main problem is the cameras. Compared to their S line of phones it’s really lacking. I would personally love to see a flip phone with the cameras of their latest S phones.
I agree but I imagine that if they do that then they'll drastically harm the sales of the actual S series phones themselves as there's nothing to really make them stand out from the rest of the lineup
Honestly, I use to manage a cell phone store and truthfully the Zfold and Zflip have been the most returned phones and the most warrantied phones for the past 3 years. Aesthetics aside flips and folds are just not good devices. But people buy what they like so hey go for it.
I own a Flip 4 and it performs flawlessly, you get used to the compact size and the ability to use the main cameras for selfies. The only thing that would make it perfect is to have flagship level cameras, and for that reason only I'm switching back to the S24 ultra next year.
The foldable are a joy to use. They have a winning formula, they just need to refine what they have now, and they'll be some of the best devices ever made. Using the apps optimized for both screens was bliss. I know these phones will do well.
I bought the fold 4, it was an amazing bit of tech but so impractical for my use. I just ended up using the tiny front screen the most, but couldn’t get over how terrible the cameras were compared to my note 20 Ultra (2 Years old when the fold 4 came out) I think as the price is so much more than an ultra, they need to increase the fold screens size and bring it up to ultra camera quality and I would be interested again. Of course, Samsung wont so this any time soon as they will keep it separate product lines, but hence why i see the fold as impractical at the moment. Much MUCH happier with my s23 Ultra ;-)
I had the galaxy mega right when it came out. Man, playing asphalt on such a big screen was AMAZINNG. I got a free galaxy tab 3 with the deal through at&t and I felt stupid for even having it because it wasn't much bigger than my phone. Not to mention, I got the experimental mega- which had more ram than the standard one.
And just think, that phone is smaller then the average phone today. We’re getting 6.7" phones and 6.8" phones and that was 6.3, and I remember seeing that phone in the store and I thought it was ridiculous. I was like they’re selling a tablet as a phone, this is crazy lol. Now my phone is bigger then that.😂😂
@@freddyjason3142 Except it's not smaller. Physically larger in every dimension than an S23 Ultra, and even the screen itself is still about 1/3 of an inch wider.
@@freddyjason3142 If you look back at old marketing, they called it a phablet. phone/tablet. 6.3 was like astronomically sized. I felt like I was playing on a 65 inch tv when I played phone games with my face 3 inches from the screen.
the mega was a 6.3 inch screen, shortly after was revised to a 5.8 inch screen. The S23 Ultra, just as @freddyjason3142 said, has a 6.8 inch screen. The newer ones are bigger in screen dimension, just slimmer, and less bezel on the edges. the mega has like a quarter inch of bezel on both sides.
@@itsCatMeme37 Mega's screen is bigger in total surface area. It's not too dissimilar to when laptops switched from 4:3 to 16:9, where some people criticized manufacturers for giving them smaller and lower resolution screens while marketing claimed the opposite. And the device itself is wider due to the screen, and taller due to bezels.
If I had to, I'd choose the Flip. I already use a tablet so don't need a convenient large screen, but the convenient store-ability is something I haven't tried. Different approach to a small phone.
I genuinely don’t see the appeal of the flip. It’s literally just a normal phone but with a worse battery, worse screen, worse durability and higher price. The fact that it can be compact is nice but come on it’s not like you can’t put a normal sized phone in your pocket
@@ot8983I have ADHD. I like the flip. Simple reasoning. It’s so much fun for me to flip it open - flip it close. But I won’t get one because the cameras still suck. Can’t have it all I suppose :(
My daily for the last 10mo is a fold 4 and, personally, the narrow aspect ratio of the cover screen is one of my favorite aspects (lol) of the phone. It makes it much more... Grabbable? Idk how else to explain it, but it makes it much more comfortable to quickly perform basic tasks and for everything else i just pop open the inside screen. Totally cool with them sticking with it as a differentiator from pixel/others, though i doubt they will long-term.
to me it seems too narrow to be functional for my needs. I wished they did something similar to Honor Magic V2. I was hoping Fold 5 would get more mature it's a bummer for me
Agreed. I don't understand why others don't get it. Maybe they'll get it if they actually use these foldable phones. Because of the dual slabs you lose lot of grip and narrow is the way to make it for one handed use.
As someone who jumped in on the Flip 4 last year, I immediately jumped on an pre-ordered the Flip 5. Especially with all of the discounts Samsung had going (not sure if they're still going on), I pretty much paid taxes to upgrade and added their buds for another $45 i think it was. No hesitation.
Nice, you got the deal of the year lol 👍🏽 I'm glad I found Samsung Shop's deals during Fold 5 preorder couple days ago. Trading in my S20+, education discount, and got a first purchase on Samsung Shop discount. @marklopez5267 It seems like it was only a bundle deal offer that popped up while adding the Fold 5 to my cart. My gf was offered the same deals while pre-ordering her Flip 5. Damn wish you got that bundle offer too
Im using the flip4 now and I love it. I dont think I will ever go back to non foldable phones. Yes its more narrow and longer but I like that. Its easier to hold. I dont notice the crease at all. You mostly touch the bottom of the screen anyhow. Even though the changes on the flip5 are minor I really like the way it looks. That hinge is impressive! And I love that the screen on the outside got bigger. I actually prefer it over the motorolla one where it 'covers' de cameras.
thats whats wild about phone UI design why am i constantly jumping from bottom right to top left, etc. i'm holding it in one hand and trying to do things quickly 90% of the time, not sitting down at a computer, focused on it
I had a zflip3 for 3 years, and I switched to the RAZR plus. Hands down better phone in every aspect. Better battery, phone speed, screen quality. You can use any app on the front screen I hardly ever even need to open the main phone. Tons of super cool gestures. Give it a try
@@gtffyusadisadu nice! Im curious how the flip 4 will do the next year(s). Maybe if it is disappointing I will switch to razr. Also depending which phones are being released the next few years.
Seriously wasn't expecting these videos to come out WHILE the Unpacked stream was still airing, let alone this early in the morning but I guess to be expected. Also, I really hope that, now that the Z Flip has a more usable cover screen, it allows you to use it the same way many would use the Motorola Razr phones, like watching movies and RUclips videos on it.
With the little upgrades this year id still like the fold 5 it looks so refined and fresh looking compared to previous generations but the flip 5 caught me a lot i love the new cover display a lot more than the motorola razr ultra if the flip 5 gets significant upgrades surely samsung couldve upgraded their z fold but i think next year would be the year for the z fold mega upgrade
@@dongkyulee5243tech in these spaces always moves about every 2 years, although when it comes to phones every year we get a new and improved version. It is just how it works, if you get a new phone now you just have to live with the fact that in a year or 2 there will be a better one to replace it.
If it ain't broken why fix it. Apple has made a history of making small incremental changes year after year. Samsung is taking the same approach. I think they strongly believe in their design and are not going to allow the other folds change them. I would like to see the spen inside the unit next year and possibly a slightly larger front screen. As far as the cameras while we all love new hardware, maybe they should take a page from Apple and Google and just focus on post processing software etc.
Feels like an Apple S phone, and the S phones were always the best ones in hindsight. 3g? Build quality downgrade. 3gs, underrated phone because of the 4. Massive performance increase versus 1 and 3g. Big camera improvement, added autofocus. Most forgotten feature? Oleophobic screen coating. 4? Stunning redesign, major camera improvement... and antennagate. 4S? Fantastic phone with minimal visible upgrades, but with the dual core A5 and a major radio upgrade. 5? Great redesign again... and atrocious LTE battery life. 5s? One of the best models ever. Introduced Touch ID. 6? Bit bendy. Prone to failure of the digitizer connection aka "touch disease". 6S? great phone. So hey if Samsung wants to follow that tick-tock pattern? Worked pretty well for the other team.
I feel like it’s a let because regular phones have matured but folding phone felt like this new catagory that we were seeing dramatic design changes in every but it seems lady that’s maturing too now
But the thing is foldables have barley been out and Samsung literally gave up already with little to no changes for the 3rd generation in a row , fold phones still have a TON of flaws it needs fixing, that air broke don’t fix it crap doesn’t work on a product this new
Yes, for sure. Apple just already requested Samsung to develop notchless screens for the next iphone with underdisplay camera. There next awaited order would be for these foldable screens as well. Time will tell.
Having seen a fold 4 that gets daily use by someone that actually uses it , i wasn’t impressed , the plastic protective screen was a total greasy mess ( piss poor oleophobic coating ), the screen was already starting to split , and it wasn’t very old , it has no S pen silo , if you buy the case and S pen , it still has less functionality than a galaxy note or ultra, less battery life , less good camera , less durability , and higher cost , and shitty form factor too boot imo( front screen utterly useless for biggish hands).
I think the passport sized folding phone is the perfect form factor. Either if Samsung creates a new one or switches the fold series to that, and/or the Google Fold gets better over time, that is the one that I'll get.
yep. the surface duo screen are a much better size/aspect ratio. the only downside is when watching videos or movies, the gap becomes very apparent and annoying@@12LbBaby
their foldable software seems the best in the market which allows them to don't worry about the hardware as much. that being said, the squarer form-factor of their rivals appeals to me more. you'll still be using the phone closed a lot of the time.
I believe you, but it still sounds quite unbelievable to hear that Samsung is best in anything that has to do with software. They've come a long way! Still prefer my Android closer to stock personally, but that's just my preference :)
Carrying a Fold 4 since last year. The best thing about it is the novelty and amaze when you pull it out in public and in front of the people. The bigger screen has drastically reduced my laptop screen time. I write more mails, and type stuff more in general on the inner screen.
Man I used to be so excited for new releases of phones and other stuff, especially from Samsung. I hope Samsung will try out new stuff like they used to. Also a triple fold would be sweet and it will also fix the aspect ratio issues on the front and the inner screen
I agree the fold series has been stagnated since Fold 2. But hey, if they would be able to create that tripple fold and it wouldn't be too heavy. Then I would be first in line to order it :) that would be a dream phone. Like a tripple fold with a s-pen that goes inside of it. That would be a dream come true
Samsung will try new stuff, but people need to realize that a folding phone isn't the same as a slightly curved screen or adding a pen to the phone. It's literally FOLDING the screen and hardware needs to be placed accordingly. It's been 5 years guys, that's not a super long time. Samsung still has plenty of other devices to play around with but they haven't stagnated with the fold series. They're just allowing consumers and developers enough time to properly adopt or develop the new form-factor
There are some serious issues with Android apps not being optimised for tablets. Either they don't go horizontal at all (Duolingo, Reddit) or the stretch the content right across the screen (BBC News, and many other news apps). Not an issue on iPads.
It was a massive mistake for companies to not wait until the tablet focused android 3 came out. Ruined their reputation, and now apple holds the majority of the tablet market.
Rocking flip4 for a year now. Tempted to upgrade, but i'll wait for a better camera and less noticeable crease. Most thing I love so far is the battery life.
You know it’s funny how a RUclipsr can have so much influence on others that it’s no longer even about the product. It’s about his opinion. I’m from watching an FPT video talking about how Mkbhd has changed YT and I think you are top 5 RUclipsrs. And this is not something easy because the content itself is nothing crazy and isn’t easy but so authentic and he focuses on what we want. Now that’s what YT is about. Hands down
I think it's fine to do incremental updates. I find it fascinating that Apple can keep the same form factor for years on in and everyone thinks that it's the best thing since sliced bread. When Samsung decides to make a change in its form factor it will come right on time and should have all the bugs worked out of it! Great work Samung keep it up!
The difference is Apple makes incremental updates related to camera mostly with one BIG new feature and nee SoC And here is Samsung with hinge update, that sounds not exciting and “wow” as a camera update. Flip 5s new outer screen is a biggest new feature that can be highlighted, hinge is not that much Even the incremental updates should be noticeable and sound “loud” to the avg consumer
The problem is, when apple do that, all android fanboy and even samsung themselves mock apple. Now when samsung do it, they all said it’s fine. What a hypocrite and double standard 😂
Except the 14 pro introduces aod 48mp camera better selfie cam dynamic island video stabilization 2000nits brightness and more. The new fold is just a new hinge.
It’s because Apple updates features. They let everyone else do the crazy outlandish new ideas and form factors. Then they take what works, fine tune it, and release their own version into their eco system. Both are necessary. I love seeing new tech in different crazy form factors.
Z Fold 4 is the best phone I've had in ages. No issues since launch. No upgrade for me this year. I love the narrow form of the cover screen. It's best of both world small enough to fit everywhere closed, big enough to enjoy content whenever I want open.
I am glad that samsung has stopped making drastic changes from year to year, but settled on almost an elegant design on these phone and focused on the core and internal improvements. Galaxy S23 Ultra, Flip and Fold are all the same as last year with minor improvements. However, their main focus has been on software and OneUi and I can really feel the software improvement, stable OS and improved battery life on my S23 Ultra.
Speaking of specific app enhancements for the fold series- I've been playing a lot of minecraft on the fold. And I noticed a really cool effect thats produced by playing with the screen just slightly bent, and lining up the horizon with the crease. It gives the game a 3d aspect almost like a 3ds. Its not really possible to play like that though, because anytime you look around at all, the horizon no longer lines up with the crease. If Mojang would add in a "snap to horizon" setting in the game, so anytime your center of view got close enough to the horizon, it would snap to it, then this cool little quirk I found would become an awesome new feature.
They won't, but not for the reasons that the other commenters suggested. They want you to get the Pixel Fold. People don't realize this enough, but Google Pixel and Samsung are not competitors or rivals by any means. They make similar products, sure, but they heavily rely on each other. Google makes the operating system for Samsung and Samsung manufactures Google Pixel's chips, hinges, and displays. They will still be profiting at the end of the day if you buy a Pixel Fold instead.
The thing is that the taller aspect ratio on the fold is good for holding it. I love being able to reliably, dependably hold my fold in one hand while using it, because I never wear a case. Also, I just like opening it up if I feel cramped. That’s the point, right? Idk those are just my thoughts after using the fold 3 for the last few years.
Personally, I am still on the fence about getting a foldable as my daily driver which is why I have a S23U. I feel like the reason for the lack of any feature upgrades on most part is because Samsung finally has competition on the foldables globally from the likes of Motorola, Oppo, Google etc., the Fold5 and Flip5's hinge improvement is a direct response to those competition. They are being reactive rather than proactive in their approach to product development and are going from being the innovator to follower.
You lose dust protection when you get a folding phone as they only have IPX8 rating. Which means if you are a beach person, or usually work around dust then the particles might creep in and get stuck inside the hinge mechanism and potentially damage your phone or produce creaking noise. this might be a perfect indoor office phone though.
I have been a big fan of the Fold.. and even after watching many different versions of folds from other companies the Z Fold was always ahead for me.. the Z Fold 5 is almost there at this point... what I whish them to focus on is really the outside of the phone being really annoyingly narrow that I just dont want to use it at all. .. The Pixel Fold is dangerously close to beating the Samsung Fold if they really are "settled".
@@amapparatistkwabenaWhat are you on about? You are aware that Sammy is pretty much the forefront of Android and it's features before they got adopted and rehashed by other phone makers right?
I was worried about the narrow screen on my fold 3 when I got it, but 2 years in I can't imagine life without it. The one-hand-able narrow screen is my main driver at work, swiping away messages and scrolling reels from time to time. Now it feels awkward looking at any other 16:9 smartphone 😂
@@ghuf2001 I am using Fold3.. my inside screen dont work anymore..outside is too small. Its a pain. Not upgrading another Fold again. Time to switch back to Iphone after 12 yrs of Android. Iphone 4 was my last Iphone
I actually really enjoy the narrow-nature of my fold4, it's great for what the cover screen is mostly (at least in my case) used for. And that could be reading an article, scrolling through discrod, occasionally sendting texts, and other such things. Typing on the cover screen is okay, but I can always just open to the main screen whenever I want and use that whenever something isn't great for the cover screen, like a video, a game, or typing longer strings of text. I originally had a fold3, and the different aspect ratios of the fold4 is the main reason I upgraded, it made it easier to use.
@@fallenshallrise What? Are you talking about the flip? Because your point would make sense there, but not for the fold. I'm talking about the fold, of which the entire point of which is to be able to open it to a much larger, more usable screen but still be able to fold into a relatively compact package
I agree with you. I have a fold 4, and the reason I bought it IS TO FOLD IT OPEN AND USE THE BIG SCREEN. I've read so many reviews comparing the Pixel Fold to the Fold 4, and how people like the outside screen better on the Pixel. Well guess what? 80% of the time, my Fold 4 is open. The other 20% is for me to read messages, do a quick scroll of a page/article/email. If I want make a reply to an email/msg that's more than a few sentences, I either use voice, orI unfold my phone! I actually find that a narrower phone fits into my pockets better.
Me too. I usually upgrade every other year, so really banking on the 6 to be a major upgrade for me to trade the 4 in but I definitely wouldn't trade this in for the 5.
I mean my fold 4s screen is starting to break so next year im ditching foldables for a few gens, along the seam at the bottom, also not fully opening no more... no drops and in a protective case. Knew it was coming as very common issue, part of adopting new tech (yes its 4th gen but even so, only a handful on foldables on the market)
I actually really like the narrow/tall folded form for when I'm out and about. Makes it really easy to one-hand swype messages or entire emails quickly, which i'm doing all day. I've had every iteration of these and I love it.
I've had a fold4 since day one and I just pre-ordered a flip5. The fold is awesome and amazing for content consumption and multi tasking, but the compromises you have to make to carry a tablet sized foldable are just not worth it for me as of now. Still a huge fan though! Cant wait to see how foldables evolve. :)
As someone whos daily driven the fold 4 for about 6 months now, the only big improvements i think they really have left are the under display camera, battery, and s pen storage inside the phone. And the crease i guess but that's an industry-wide problem. I think its kind of disappointing that theyre offering so little in terms of upgrades but still charging that $1800 price tag though. I think a lot more people would be willing to give foldables a go if they could drop the price by any meaningful amount. And getting new first time foldable customers seems important because i cant see many Fold 4 owners feeling the need to upgrade to the 5. At least from the 3 to the 4 you got a pretty big leap in camera quality.
if they just used a normal selfie camera in a small bezel space the front cam quality issue would be fixed , other foldables have improved on the crease. a built in s pen should def be a thing or at least included in the phone . They've gotten lazy ,complacent and it will kill the sales this year because they actually have competition in the west
I think the standard is for people to upgrade every 2 years, no company is expecting consumers to upgrade every year. That’s why year over year improvements are usually pretty small
I don't mind the outside display. If I wanted a bigger outside display I will go for the s23 ultra. The fold for actually makes you use it inside this play more often. That people aren't going to use the energy splay as much they should not waste money on foldables
@@JacobRivera-l9x it just needs to be usable , typing anything more than a sentence or two in the cover display that narrow and awkwardly shaped is not an enjoyable experience. That's why I think the Pixel fold is getting so much praise the outside display is actually useful
Not changing much is a good strategy, to be honest. It gives companies time to work out the kinks with the new design / features when they come out and work more on software as well. Plus it gives the brand a design identity as well. From consumer side, it doesn’t cause FOMO every time a new version comes out I’m all for not changing a lot if that means a stable well polished product is delivered. I believe Apple and Samsung are not disappointing on those fronts
That, and I feel that a lot of understated engineering went into those new hinges, and samsung realized it has no worth as a marketing pitch to the average user, so they didn't bother.
My Flip 3 died from hinge problems (black display when folding). I certainly wouldn't buy another folding phone without being convinced that the hinge tech has been improved significantly. Unfortunately this improvement isn't really what is needed. No mention of better dust protection means it is *going* to die from dust build up inside the hinge eventually. And because it's Samsung you know that won't honour warranty so yeah.....for returning customers this _update_ is definitely not it
@@tagg8233 sad. I’m curious to know if you considered early adopters sacrifices before buying a flip or were you under the impression that since it’s the 4th iteration it’s bound to be mass consumer ready?
I went with the S22 Ultra at the end of last year and was mildly regretting not getting a Fold, but now the idea of waiting for the Fold 6 or maybe even Fold 7 before taking it on as a daily driver sounds more appealing
Do you have overheating problems with you s22 ultra. I hear a lot of people and some I know have it overheat. I'm considering the s23 ultra as they supposedly fixed it
@@cassijoanna I never had any kind of overheating problems and never heard of such a thing.... but I do not play any games on my phones so I wouldn't know
It would have been cool to have a battery and camera upgrade with this new model, but honestly, I am not bothered. They were flagship quality from 2020, which is already plenty. The battery lasts more than a day, and the pictures I take are already clear enough. Plus, this way, they can keep the costs down. The Fold 5 is actually _less_ per month than my current S21 Ultra when I bought it back in 2021. If they did make it full-on flagship, the price would be ~$3k. The one major factor from my buying a Fold was the hinge not closing all the way. It looked ugly. I am glad to see they fixed it. This solved the issue, and I will very likely buy one when my current S21 contract is up.
I was very seriously thinking about buying a foldable as my next phone and I was excited to see the new gen Samsung foldables, but the fact that they just look more or less the same as last year’s models has made me way less enthusiastic. If they’d come out with some killer new features and quality of life improvements I probably would have bought one this year, but at this stage I just want to wait and see what the next game-changer will be. My Note 10+ is still more than fine for another year of use.
last year i made the switch from a note 10 (not the +) to the fold 4. No regrets. use the S-pen case as i use the pen for meetings and browsing here and there. it's a little bulky, but the benefits of the inner display outweigh everything for me.
100% after the Motorola reveal, I was obsessing over it. Samsung leaked their flip and I was convinced it'll run full screen apps on the external. They they show this, with the same specs as last year and only widgets.... Nah, not good enough. I'm going all in on that Magenta Motorola. I don't use my phone like I used to, I'm going to have fun and carry a battery pack in my bag.
@@benjimc1 i am interested in the fold aswell, the flip one looks like a smart watch and phone in one which sux but the fold feels more like having the luxury of screen size which a laptop has. But i am worried as i've seen from earlier tutorials that folding smartphones have issues later on, with having wrinkles in your screen right at the middle, or become unresponsive or even break off... which makes it obviously less attractive. Hopefully you know more about it, because that kind of information i am currently missing right now from this video...
I’ve been waiting to switch to a fold for ages, yet past two gens have given me no real reason to convert yet. Was really hoping for something bold this model. Roll on Fold 6
I think you should just get the fold 5. Waiting another year makes no sense seeing is how if none of the competition out there made you think about getting those and Samsung not really changing the fold year to year, May as will get the new one now
I love the tall slim design personally. It's almost reminiscent of our old Nokia phones in terms of feel in hand. I only open my fold for RUclips and movies. Really wish I had a stylus that I could use on inner AND outer display. I rocked with the Note line from the 4 to the 20.
Best to keep any electrical out of your pockets Anywear near around your tummy or heart no No’ Ok. Around your ovaries or men's as well. always think. And maybe bag over your shoulder.. is safer all around to carry it. Nice phone. Ask mobile companies if they can update it yearly. I think couple do that. Look around. Ask. If you pensioner you may get cheaper and if you have another 2 or more devices you probably get a good discount. ✌️
I had the fold 4 and now own a fold 5. You are right. there's not much difference, however, will never go back to any other style of phone. For one, I'm not getting younger. The big screen makes it easy for me to read and enjoy videos and photos better. Love the camera and, in general, the appearance and performance of this phone, Samsung got my business. Thanks for the video. Enjoy your reviews.
As a Z fold 3 user I'll be waiting for the next fold for an upgrade or even the Fold 6 who knows but it's getting better each year so I'm glad w these subtle changes
While it would be nice for more of the hardware to have been updated, I personally appreciate the size they have retained for the fold as my wife uses it constantly since she can text and scroll easy with one hand while nursing. Has been huge for us :)
problem is, phone camera tech has stagnated.. so they have to go bigger for better battery tech is completely died off processor has been updated things we could do with 3d scanner lidar IR blaster quad speakers wide band flash
damn. i remember the first gen fold came out with all the issues, and we are already at 5th gen... the hinge design has definitely grown well. i can see this being common in coming years. i guess the next goal is to have thinner body, to get single phone's thickness when folded. and flexible glass screen, instead of plastic.
As a Fold 4 owner, I'm actually very happy with the software, but they could always improve on stuff. I'd love to have the Pixel Fold pop-up dock, instead of the one Samsung has made.
They have a whole market for themselves ( maybe 2 / 3 less relevant competitors ) , they don't need major changes every gen. New people who are looking for foldable phones will enjoy this one ✌️
I was hoping they'd make the Z Fold 5 slightly more wider but that's two years in a row with refined upgrades. I'll have to wait for the Z Fold and Flip 6. I wonder if they'll ever add the periscope lens on the flip and fold phones
Brother in law likes to have the latest tech on his phone so when he came over and showed us this Samsung that folds we were like "what's this thing?" So cool and thank you for sharing all the new features with us! ❤
Hey Marques! I think It's quite interesting that you had complaints about the hotdog style front display on the fold, but yeah the keyboard is difficult to work with to say the least. I find myself using those swipe gestures a lot more then I did on any other phone that supported it. Now, I wonder this: You say Samsung has 'settled,' and I do agree, do you think maybe we will see a new phone from Samsung next year? We saw some tech demos from Samsung in the folding department; rolling phones, tri-folds, and so much more! It makes me curious as to what is next, I feel like a unremarkable year from Samsung is usually telling of a hit next year. Although maybe I'm a bit misguided on that. I can't help but think that resources were spent elsewhere, solidifying the form factor of the two current folding phones in order to create a potential third?
They definitely settled! I really wish they would've at least made 2 versions of the fold! A ultra version would be sweet for those who want a wider front display and bigger battery.

To be fair, there’s really not much that you could improve on when it comes to Samsung foldables. They’re so good and so ahead of the competition that you could understand why there’s not much changes from the previous generation.
Flex window is a much more groundbreaking upgrade than dynamic island. PS: You can do literally EVERYTHING in flex window without flipping the phone. Good job Samsung.
Also, the narrow screen is the best. It is so nice to hold in the hand. I was getting tired of how wide phones were but now I get to both Best of Both Worlds. Narrow on the outside and easy to hold and then a nice big screen on the inside. Actually one of my favourite features of this phone is that it's narrow so I hope Samsung never listens to any of you guys online and makes it wider. Buy an s23 or an iPhone if you want a wide phone. The nice thing that Samsung does is try to make different things.
I just changed from iPhone to fold5 after 8 years in row , fold 5 is simply smartest phone I ever . Cover screen not that tight at all you can type easily while walking and moving ..very happy for that change
I'm not a Samsung fan at all, I'm not a fan of foldables at all, but I think that Samsung's foldables look like the most polished and developed of all. Good job Samsung!
My guess is they needed more time to do some of the bigger changes so they decided to just release the same phone this year with minor upgrades focusing the team on real inovation like the s-pen fit, even thinner design, better battery capacity and faster charging.
That's probably the case. Incremental upgrade with a chip strong enough to carry the experience this year. Then focus on bigger hardware improvements next year. Google did the same with the Pixel 5 before launching the 6.
@@fez877 which will be an exact copy of Samsung fold 3 or 4 with some Foldable iOS or something that will not even multitask like an iPad because they don't want to kill iPad market. So yeah.

minor upgrades? they completely reengineered the hinges and made the phones smaller. you cant make them smaller and also increase battery size, unless new battery tech comes out
Wouldnt mind seeing a review of the galaxy watch and the tablet as well. I really like that they bought back the physical rotating bezel on the watch, always thought that was a nice feature.
Im excited to get my fold in November. There's days I wished I had a tablet, but I'll never go out and buy a tablet I just don't have enough use for one. I think this will scratch the itch. Being able to multitask apps on two seperate screens at once is a huuuuge win for me too. Exactly what I need
They don't need to make significant changes because loyal customers don't desire that, and many don't upgrade every year since phones have become generally good. So, all they have to do is improve it slightly each year and experiment with new features, and people will buy it. If not the customers from last year, then probably those from the previous year or the year before that.
I agree. Still using and loving my Fold 1. I do like the improved hinge design on the 5 though but think i still have a couple more years out of this first gen
I love the look of the Razr’s new cover screen over Samsungs. Like how Motorola cut out spots in the screen for the cameras. I would rather the screen be a little smaller than having it the way Samsung did. P.S. Specifically talking about the Flip
Agreed! I have the moto RAZR+ and after seeing this video, I'm glad I went for the RAZR. Looks cooler and not to talk about not having all the bloat ware Samsung has lol
@@jorgelara3396 I had the Flip 3 and then the Razr Plus (40 Ultra in the UK). Whilst the razr plus is a way better phone partly due to it being two gens newer, Samsung One UI is more optimised for foldables. I had a few crashes, the time would stop on the outer screen which is a known issue but a lot of these things will eventually be ironed out. Although the screen was faulty and Motorola gave me a refund so I’ll never know how it develops. The poor customer service and the lack of a replacement being offered than a refund has put me off Motorola for now.
The taller aspect ratio is amazing. If i need to do something quick its perfect and it fits in my hand. Typing isnt an issue if you just use swipe. People seem to forget that the phone has two screens and if you are sending long messages or really watching content then just open the phone. The aspect ratio also means that the inside is taller rather than wider which makes it natural to use for typing as it is not unnecessary wide like with the pixel. Even now on youtube i see more of the video even with the comment section and keyboard taking up space.
Personally I like the narrow front screen - with my hands its much better in that I can easily deal with the phone with one hand, for anything else I flip open the inside screen. A bigger screen would be a real hassle. Maybe they have done some deep testing for what peeps like. Like your presentations in general Marcus!

It means that you do not need to update your phone every year; but for new buyers or people who were planning to buy these phones, it's still a good option especially with an increased base storage.
Personally, I won't buy a foldable until the crease goes away. I am happy with the non foldable flagship till then.
I traded in my last 2 flips and got the new one for 50 to 100 dollars. I'll upgrade every year if they keep having that promo.
Most people don't have a foldable anyways. If they get one it's new for them. And samsung is making improvements every generation.

My s10e display broke and I needed a solution until I potentially repair or recover my data. I'm trying out the Zfold5 and ... just wow.
Its not a trend to have or produce a foldable phone. From what I understand most people generally don’t care
I think they might be preserving form factor to make it easier for front-end programmers to develop optimized apps for the foldable, since it is a very niche display config

Yeah I don't feel bad about still rocking the fold 4, but do think the fold 5 is worth getting

The universal control with the ir blaster got patched out also... I could live without these, but some old features could really work notlw that we have the hardware to support...
These are minor stuff that only a few people used I think, but the S4 finger hover was nice... My S7 also had squeeze sensor, like the Pixel (I think that was the squeeze for assistant phone), but was never used, it was only in the maintenance menu
I got really mad when they patched out adjustable transparency for floating windows, it made my life so easy multiple times, now it's gone... (been gone for about a year or so...)

@@palmermoynihan2628 it is if the stuff theyre holding back is killer and they save money doing incremental updates for 3-5 years while charging the same money

the moment one does, samsung wouldve milked the market dry in the interim. Why raise costs for no reason
also u forget everyone buys their foldable display tech from samsung, so nobody is going to compete without samsung releasing better foldable display tech. or at the very least they will be able to match it. So others have to compete with formfactor, which google and oppo have tried without much success

The bigger outer screen on z flip 5 means almost nothing if it doesn't actually let you open apps...
It's jus an always on display right. Can be easily ported over or even used rn on a regular s series.

I actually like the size of the fold as is. It’s easier to manage with one hand and easier to read long messages on.
I agree. I really only use my front screen for "phone" stuff. Way easier to use for calls.

Much MUCH happier with my s23 Ultra ;-)

the mega was a 6.3 inch screen, shortly after was revised to a 5.8 inch screen.

I was hoping Fold 5 would get more mature it's a bummer for me
I couldn't agree more. And one-handed operation is amazingly easy with it being that narrow!
Agreed. I don't understand why others don't get it. Maybe they'll get it if they actually use these foldable phones. Because of the dual slabs you lose lot of grip and narrow is the way to make it for one handed use.
Yep before I'd drop my slab phone alot now I don't have that problem especially w the samsung spen case on it gives that extra grip
Best phone I've ever used ill never go back to slabs

Im using the flip4 now and I love it. I dont think I will ever go back to non foldable phones. Yes its more narrow and longer but I like that. Its easier to hold. I dont notice the crease at all. You mostly touch the bottom of the screen anyhow. Even though the changes on the flip5 are minor I really like the way it looks. That hinge is impressive! And I love that the screen on the outside got bigger. I actually prefer it over the motorolla one where it 'covers' de cameras.

@@dongkyulee5243tech in these spaces always moves about every 2 years, although when it comes to phones every year we get a new and improved version. It is just how it works, if you get a new phone now you just have to live with the fact that in a year or 2 there will be a better one to replace it.
They could've easily changed their selfie camera back to 10mp and add a better charger speed on the Fold 5 and it would've been perfect tbh
Well Said
Feels like an Apple S phone, and the S phones were always the best ones in hindsight.
Exactly. Let's see how they review them. Since apple is praised yearly for being the same.
I feel like it’s a let because regular phones have matured but folding phone felt like this new catagory that we were seeing dramatic design changes in every but it seems lady that’s maturing too now
But the thing is foldables have barley been out and Samsung literally gave up already with little to no changes for the 3rd generation in a row , fold phones still have a TON of flaws it needs fixing, that air broke don’t fix it crap doesn’t work on a product this new
Seeing these devices in person is truly impressive. The screen tech is amazing. Would love to see Apple give it a go with their spin.

I think the passport sized folding phone is the perfect form factor. Either if Samsung creates a new one or switches the fold series to that, and/or the Google Fold gets better over time, that is the one that I'll get.
Opening the phone to a portrait mode is better than landscape

The inside display is of no use if you want videos a lot as the aspect ratio will be same as outside and you will get extra large black bars
As long as some flip style ones are available also, the whole reason I choose them is because I don't want a big rectangle in my pocket
This guy was born to give reviews. Very informative from start to end
their foldable software seems the best in the market which allows them to don't worry about the hardware as much. that being said, the squarer form-factor of their rivals appeals to me more. you'll still be using the phone closed a lot of the time.
I believe you, but it still sounds quite unbelievable to hear that Samsung is best in anything that has to do with software. They've come a long way! Still prefer my Android closer to stock personally, but that's just my preference :)
RAZR + is way more aesthetically pleasing
The flip has a larger outer display than the phone I had 12 years ago, the Xperia mini pro. Blows my mind.
Xperia mini pro was great though. Miss small phones!
Yeah. Not so much improvements with the foldables. The S series are awesome tho.
Yeah they're all the same now... Galaxy s22 > s23 nothing changed
@@AxeDragon1989 Really? I feel like s23 series perfected every flaw that the s22 series had. Though I miss the S22 series design tho
A review of the Tabs would be really nice. I think they improved so much even in app quality

Everything is good until you compare them to the iPad Pro series.
There are some serious issues with Android apps not being optimised for tablets. Either they don't go horizontal at all (Duolingo, Reddit) or the stretch the content right across the screen (BBC News, and many other news apps). Not an issue on iPads.
They're boring year after year because they put the same chip in them that their phones get. They need some real power.
You can upgrade through Samsung with trade in and it costs just a hair more than an insurance deductible on your flip 4
If you have a carrier is smarter to just trade it in....For whenever we see a better flip6 you can get a great trade in value
The difference is Apple makes incremental updates related to camera mostly with one BIG new feature and nee SoC
And here is Samsung with hinge update, that sounds not exciting and “wow” as a camera update.
Flip 5s new outer screen is a biggest new feature that can be highlighted, hinge is not that much
Even the incremental updates should be noticeable and sound “loud” to the avg consumer
Apple do wayy more upgrades

I really like the pixel fold aesthetic and I hope to see Samsung do something similar even if it is going to market it with a different name .
No chance
Nope
You want Samsung to copy another manufacturer's look and feel? Not gonna happen.
It cant even handle a bend
Yea I agree. I'm still using a Fold3 and if I need more space I just unfolded, but the outside screen gets the job done.
Thank you!! I was looking for this comment, and for the record i watch plenty of content on the thinner screen.
Exactly. You would need to have monster hands like Shaq to think the pixel fold is more comfortable to hold.
It's amazing the Portuguese translation. As a native Brazilian, it has some generic expressions, but it's bizarre how AI is improving
They are being reactive rather than proactive in their approach to product development and are going from being the innovator to follower.
can't wait what happens if Apple releases a foldable
I have the S23U as well. I wouldn't mind having a more minimal phone as a daily driver, but I'm on the fence as well due to the specs comparison.

I have been a big fan of the Fold.. and even after watching many different versions of folds from other companies the Z Fold was always ahead for me.. the Z Fold 5 is almost there at this point... what I whish them to focus on is really the outside of the phone being really annoyingly narrow that I just dont want to use it at all. ..
The whole point of a folding phone is so you can close it. Covering the whole outside in a giant screen just makes the whole concept pointless. IMO
@@fallenshallrise What? Are you talking about the flip? Because your point would make sense there, but not for the fold.

Not changing much is a good strategy, to be honest. It gives companies time to work out the kinks with the new design / features when they come out and work more on software as well. Plus it gives the brand a design identity as well. From consumer side, it doesn’t cause FOMO every time a new version comes out
I’m all for not changing a lot if that means a stable well polished product is delivered.
I’ve been waiting to switch to a fold for ages, yet past two gens have given me no real reason to convert yet. Was really hoping for something bold this model. Roll on Fold 6
I think you should just get the fold 5. Waiting another year makes no sense seeing is how if none of the competition out there made you think about getting those and Samsung not really changing the fold year to year, May as will get the new one now
Funny how I was more excited for Marques to upload his video rather than the Samsung live stream to start! This man has made his 'Mark'
They folding screen on the Fold finally folds flat. Well done, Samsung. I'll wait for the 6th iteration next year.
I love the tall slim design personally. It's almost reminiscent of our old Nokia phones in terms of feel in hand. I only open my fold for RUclips and movies. Really wish I had a stylus that I could use on inner AND outer display. I rocked with the Note line from the 4 to the 20.
Thank you - This has helped me to make a decision to keep my existing Fold-Z 4 and not upgrade to the 5 👍
Best to keep any electrical out of your pockets Anywear near around your tummy or heart no No’ Ok. ✌️
I think they found the sweet spot for the fold. And wondering if battery optimization has improved and perhaps a bigger battery was not needed.
yeah, i think the most important thing is getting the battery to last a long time
4,400 mAh is OK - but 5-6k would make it a lot better
I had the fold 4 and now own a fold 5. You are right. there's not much difference, however, will never go back to any other style of phone. For one, I'm not getting younger. The big screen makes it easy for me to read and enjoy videos and photos better. Love the camera and, in general, the appearance and performance of this phone, Samsung got my business. Thanks for the video. Enjoy your reviews.
As a Z fold 3 user I'll be waiting for the next fold for an upgrade or even the Fold 6 who knows but it's getting better each year so I'm glad w these subtle changes
I think ima just go with the next S24 personally
While it would be nice for more of the hardware to have been updated, I personally appreciate the size they have retained for the fold as my wife uses it constantly since she can text and scroll easy with one hand while nursing. Has been huge for us :)
problem is, phone camera tech has stagnated.. so they have to go bigger for better
battery tech is completely died off
processor has been updated
things we could do with
3d scanner lidar
IR blaster
quad speakers
wide band flash
Screen size and aspect ratio are two completely different things.
Don't confuse the two.
Your wife likes the outer aspect ratio.
damn. i remember the first gen fold came out with all the issues, and we are already at 5th gen... the hinge design has definitely grown well. i can see this being common in coming years. i guess the next goal is to have thinner body, to get single phone's thickness when folded. and flexible glass screen, instead of plastic.
Get it an excellent phone
They already are flexible glass screens. UTG= Ultra Thin Glass.
Z Folds already use ultra thin glass.
They're not 100% plastic like the 1st gen Galaxy Fold.
Until they can make a foldable screen that's unable to be scratched by a fingernail, I won't be buying any
I love watching your videos on new tech, totally my go to channel, Keep up the great work!
Samsung settling, i guess they have peaked design wise already. It's time for the software to catch up ASAP 🔥
Word🔥
As a Fold 4 owner, I'm actually very happy with the software, but they could always improve on stuff. I'd love to have the Pixel Fold pop-up dock, instead of the one Samsung has made.
@@LordManhattansame here
Also I don't like samsungs software look but my fold 3 probably wouldn't work with any other software because of the obvious
That's exactly what they're doing.
Looks like I'll be sticking with the fold 4 until the 6 for now. Thanks for the great review as always!
Something has indeed changed.
Maybe watch the video till the end before you make comments.
They have a whole market for themselves ( maybe 2 / 3 less relevant competitors ) , they don't need major changes every gen. New people who are looking for foldable phones will enjoy this one ✌️
New cover screen, new hinge, new chip🤔
I was hoping they'd make the Z Fold 5 slightly more wider but that's two years in a row with refined upgrades. I'll have to wait for the Z Fold and Flip 6. I wonder if they'll ever add the periscope lens on the flip and fold phones
They probably won't do either for the next generation, especially the periscope lens - remember they are trying to make the phone thinner not thicker.
@@Oscar1427 Honor magic v2 is both wider (folded and unfolded) and the thinnest foldable so Samsung has lost in both respects 👍
I have the Fold 4 but I'm currently using the Pixel fold. The wider outer screen is the main point for me 👍
Brother in law likes to have the latest tech on his phone so when he came over and showed us this Samsung that folds we were like "what's this thing?" So cool and thank you for sharing all the new features with us!
The outside display is perfect for on hand use. If u not a one ha d user of course u will complain
They definitely settled! I really wish they would've at least made 2 versions of the fold! A ultra version would be sweet for those who want a wider front display and bigger battery.
Haha yeah and with an Ultra price tag. It's already $1800.
@@JustSomeMisfitBetter to have the option even if it's $2,500.
Enthusiasts would buy it regardless. Z Fold series aren't targeted at average consumers. 😂😂😂
@@PSYCHOV3N0Mcompared to 1000uas m1 macbook air and other android phones esp pixel pros…😂😂😂😂😂Samsung prices are just ridiculous compared to value proposition esp to these easily damaged phones with reflective crease and plasticky screen
To be fair, there’s really not much that you could improve on when it comes to Samsung foldables. They’re so good and so ahead of the competition that you could understand why there’s not much changes from the previous generation.
uh the acual design for one, and too much is the same since last year, could have had a bigger battery at least
more usuable front display like the Razr+, better durability.
Just got the fold 5 and I love it!
Excited for the Flip / Fold 6 when Samsung's R&D department is actually forced to compete with the Pixel Fold
Relax
Probably ran out of ideas and is waiting for Apple to release a foldable phone to take “inspiration” from 😂
@@fez877 which will be an exact copy of Samsung fold 3 or 4 with some Foldable iOS or something that will not even multitask like an iPad because they don't want to kill iPad market. So yeah.
MKHBD here calls out samsung on settling but Apple has been releasing almost same looking phones since 2017 (iPhone X to 14). same candy bar with a little different notches every year . ain’t that settling as well ??
at least Samsung has options from foldables to candy bar phones.
minor upgrades? they completely reengineered the hinges and made the phones smaller. you cant make them smaller and also increase battery size, unless new battery tech comes out
Wouldnt mind seeing a review of the galaxy watch and the tablet as well. I really like that they bought back the physical rotating bezel on the watch, always thought that was a nice feature.
He probably won't review the watch. There weren't many changes
Im excited to get my fold in November. There's days I wished I had a tablet, but I'll never go out and buy a tablet I just don't have enough use for one. I think this will scratch the itch. Being able to multitask apps on two seperate screens at once is a huuuuge win for me too. Exactly what I need
we’re in such a weird era in tech that not changing the price on a new phone CAN be the most exciting part about it…
They don't need to make significant changes because loyal customers don't desire that, and many don't upgrade every year since phones have become generally good. So, all they have to do is improve it slightly each year and experiment with new features, and people will buy it. If not the customers from last year, then probably those from the previous year or the year before that.
This. Mkhd could be out of a job if we don't see some innovation lol
Sprint subscribers could not get enough of the Mega. I could not keep them in stock, and they had crazy long activation records.
Improving the hinge and putting a larger display on the front of the phone is pretty significant imo
Personally I like the narrow front screen - with my hands its much better in that I can easily deal with the phone with one hand, for anything else I flip open the inside screen. A bigger screen would be a real hassle. Maybe they have done some deep testing for what peeps like. Like your presentations in general Marcus!
Fold 5 . This is just perfect. The colour as its matching with the frame. The software with provides everything and more. The screens. Ah ...perfect
Another big upgrade is the Zflip5 has dex support! I think!? It wasn't specifically announced but was supposedly confirmed earlier this year
