I switched to a z fold 3 for my "work" oriented phone, which is mostly used for slack, zoom, and outlook for work, and upgraded from that to the z fold 5. after using the fold 3, I was never going back to not having a large screen foldable for work related use. but coming from the fold 3, the refinement in the fold 5 is impressive and well worth the upgrade. the hinge upgrade is as big a deal as the hype. seriously.

I just bought one! At first it felt a little strange to have a thinner screen, but I quickly got used to it. The only things that bothered me were: inaccuracy in fingerprint detection and the weight.
By the way, this was the best review I've seen so far.

Yea then crease getting worse after a year and phone not folding all the way through. I'm done with folds. I took care of mine for the last 7 months and never dropped it but one day my phone didnt open fully flat

Same here. It's taken a little while and also the anxiety of the screen lol. But it's lossened up a little the last week or 2 and it's starting to feel a lot better
Man,, I've had nothing but hell with my fold negl. So originally when I bought it, the shipping was delayed and lost in transit, and finally after recieving it, my phone came damaged, and had a slight dead pixel the moment I got it. After little bit of use, I started waking up to scratches on my phone despite not dropping it or anything. And now with the screen, it is cracked at the end and I actually have glass on the phone that can cut me.I have also had charging problems so bad. My phone will not charge and I have had switched chargers and I keep having to take it up to AT&T to have it cleaned, but its so annoying. I am still paying it off because I put a dowmpayment on it, but I can't do anything, I wish I could just switch the phone, but AT&T are greedy and would never do anything like that. I heard I can do a switch and repair the phone since I have coverage, but there are some problems. 1 The place I went ot TOLD BY THE AT&T lady (it was an online thing), didn't work, and then I tried calling about it to no advail. It's actually getting to a point where I am just getting pissed with the phone and I wish I had never got it.

Very nice review. I upgraded from the Fold 3 to the F5 after watxhing your review. That gapless flat fell was worth the money. You are correct. Most can afford $1700, or don't utilize trades. Samsung gave me $800 for my F3 so I only had to pay the difference. As an insurance agent my productivity has doubled because of my phone multiple uses in the field. My battery still last all day. Just wanted to say great review and thank you.

Upgrading today from the fold 3 to the 5. I can never go back to a regular phone. It's so useful and perfect for videos
I have the Z fold 4. I love it! When I first got it, I thought I maybe made a mistake, but after about 2 weeks, was like I'm never going back to a regular phone! It does make me think of how it was when they first came out with the note phone and it took a little while for the apps to work with it. I think that will get better.

I've always had the flagship phones.. Still have the S21 Ultra and haven't upgraded because I didn't think the newer ones were much better. And I REALLY love having the moving periscope camera in this phone.
I had really, REALLY, considering moving to the S24 Ultra or the Fold 5. Finally ordered the Fold 5 and it'll be here Monday. I think im going to miss the camera, and I'm pretty rough on my phones at work.. generally breaking one within about 18 months.. I'm hoping I don't regret buying this thing.
I guess if I do, I'll send it back and get the 24 Ultra.
Also.. does it still have Dex on it? I actually use it at work by plugging my phone into the docking station at my work PC

I personally, just my opinion would recommend a Samsung, Granted I've only had this Z Fold 5 for about 3 weeks now but im in love with it. Its new its fun with how much you can customize it, the features, the huge screen, the long battery, all these things made me not even miss my iphone once. Im still in the apple eco system but the trade off of having a new and exciting phone make it worth it@@juliusandrews1556

Great video! I love the Z Fold5. I switched to the Fold2 from iPhone X and am very happy. The productivity is amazing. I didnt think the Fold5 was going to be that great, but I love it after receiving it recently.
I'm puzzled why many reviewers overlook or undervalue the benefits of a large display for accessibility users. It's as if all reviewers have perfect vision or are unfamiliar with those who struggle with sight or wear glasses. I opted for the Z Fold this year, wanting to forgo the constant use of a magnifying glass or the accessibility zoom on other devices. I wish reviewers would consider the diverse needs of their audience rather than focusing solely on their own vision preferences.

I have been using fold phones for past 3 years. Starting with the fold 3. I only had one issue and thst was inner screen lifting during the heatwave. That's not a flaw that was the heatwave. The build is superb I now have the fold 5 wow with minor refinements it feels super polished. I love my phone ps well worth the samsung care plus guys costing £69 for 2yesrs here in the UK. Worth every penny. I can't fault this phone at all. Absolutely brilliant

@DroneFP I bought it dorect from Samsung at the time I purchased my fold 5. I bought my fold 5 on contract from sky network whom gave me £300 if I swapped my fold 3. So I swapped my fold 3 for the fold 5 sky gave me £300 back and I got rhe samsung care plus as basic phone insurance does not cover the inner screens they count it as small tablet.

I would say go for the S23 Ultra, unless you need the multitasking.
I personally don't own a fold or flagship but still as I'm going to buy one pretty soon I'll suggest you to sort your work if something like a tablets works better for you than a phone then go for Fold and if you don't need 2in1 phone + tablet formfactor don't go for fold for the sake of it coz you can afford it. Just remember foldables are fragile and more expensive to repair than a regular phone. I might sound rude but this is the best way i can advice you. This is how someone with a foldable explained me if i really wanted one

I bought the z fold 5. It is really expensive, I also upgraded it to 512 gigs because I use a lot of gigs. I wish my mobile carrier provided the one even higher. I would have gotten it. I feel it's worth the money. I wish I knew how to use all the features you just demonstrated. I'm learning the basics so far. Thank you for the information. Do you have a video demonstrating how to use the advanced features of the phone?

I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in Phantom Black with 512GB. Yesterday, I purchased the $100.00 dollar S Pen from Samsung, and it comes with some great accessories to protect your tablet. I also purchased a protective cover for $42.95 to protect the outer display. I buy all of my 4K UHD movies for my new phone from RUclips instead of Google, especially since they'll no longer be the same after October 5th. I love the phone. Do I wish that I had waited for the iPhone 15? I highly doubt it since I already own an iPhone 14 Pro Max with one terabyte. One of the first things I did was buy insurance for my Samsung mobile phone because it's over two thousand dollars! It is packing some incredible technology!

Got z flip 5 for my wife and fold 5 for me. Absolutely loving them both. A departure from candy bar phones. Still plenty to explore in flex mode as this is our first foldable form factors.

My girl has the z flip and I’m thinking of getting the fold myself. The price is crazy high though. So I wonder how is the battery life improvement of the fold. I currently still use the iPhone 13 Pro and it still last me two days on a single charge since day one.

As per the price since I pre-ordered both and traded in my S22 ultra and wife's I Phone 13 pro, I got both the phones for 1100 $ (after converting the currency) along with free samsung official cases for both the phones.

@@spartan16.Both are good in their respective form factor. But most practical is flip. Fold can't be used in open form in general use. The cover display is quite narrow. But ince the inner screen us open then it's all together a different story.
If you are contemplating to buy either of the two, go for flip.

Just traded in my note 20 ultra 😢 for a fold 5. I wasn't sure how I would feel but I'm about 12 hrs into owning it and love it. Haven't used it yet during the day (came in @5pm cst) but so far the reactions I get are crazy. It's the same look people would give when they saw the note for the first time. The fold is quick and responsive. Ultra beautiful display. Superb sound. The hinge improvement sold me. Still sucks not having a built in s pen but the fact that the capability is there, I'm happy. Overall I give this phone a 9.5 out of 10. The only .5 taken away because you have to get used to a slim outer display, but honestly for convenience sake it's not bad so 1/2 a point given back. Get the phone trust me.
Im already considering not needing my Ipad anymore bc this phone really is perfect.

I have an s23 Ultra for the pen and the large screen that I can use creatively, but I can see how it'd be amazing if I had the fold to draw my art on!
I'm still using my fold 3 and still have 12 months left before its paid, the biggest issue i have with the fold series is the s pen not being incised l included for a device that is 2k a pen should be included, that's like when the note was out not giving a pen with it or not getting one with the ultra devices now which is the only difference between getting the plus and ultra models

I just got my fold 5 a couple of days ago. I've been using the S23 Ultra. My main use is for work which is why I first bought a Note way back when. I am still deciding whether to keep this or go back to my S23. I do like using the fold and now I can use it for work when I'm away from my laptop. I've attended Teams meetings, viewed and even edited spreadsheets. Definitely can't do that on my S23. I'd like to keep them both but I really only need one.

@@donnamorgan8511 I ended up keeping the Fold 5. The added benefit of being able to do work away from my laptop is why I finally settled on it. But honestly I feel like the S23 Ultra is definitely the way better device for every day use. In just about every way measurable the S23 Ultra beats this device. Camera, Screen Resolution, S Pen Features and Functions, Sound Quality, Battery Life. I don't think I would buy the Z Fold 5 again if I was given the chance. It's a nice device and if you play games and watch RUclips videos or spend a lot of time on social media then it's probably a better choice. In a perfect world I'd have both.
As someone that had the z fold 3 and currently using fold 4, most of the gripes out there are not that noticeable at all during daily use. The crease is barely noticeable once you start to use it and watch videos. When you use a case it doesn't matter if the phone folds flat or not. The case with raised edges is pretty much going to fill in the gap that is left behind. The only thing I wish for is a bigger battery. The narrow front display takes some getting used to, but as a person that wanted the Sony flagship phone that also has a narrow display its not that bad. Other foldable phones that we can get in the use in the U.S. and not have possible carrier issues are not as durable, and for the same price, I'll stick with the fold series of phones.
Oh my gosh if I here one more person moan about the crease. Its a frigging folding phone people with a inner display almost the size of a ipad mini!! This phone is. Absolutely incredible I can't fault it at all. Its super responsive. Jaw dropping to watch it open and close. I get thousands of comments on it. There still super rare in London I hardly see anyone with it. And I love that. I was a iohone user for many many years but they never brought anything exc9to the table each year. Just another candybar design wow wow another candybar. Ued there expensive if you don't shop around. And the covers are very unique it can take weeks to find a cover thst truly does what you want without distracting from the design and form. The crease I dint see at all now truly when i do use my inner screen Its for netflix so I'm watching super rich in depth media you dint see the crease what so ever. And the new hinge o. The 5 is mighty powerful no gap at all now. Less room for dust to get trapped. I've had a foldable now for 6 years or so and not once had a issue with my screen. OK once but thst was due to the heatwave in the UK. My screen started to lift and samsung repaired for free. I don't wrap my phones in cotton but I don't abuse them either I'm aware how pricy it was so I treat it with care. Good strong cover a good hinge protector etc. But these phones are now built for day to day use. And with the custom snapdragon chip a long with the armour frame and the gorilla glass this phone was built to be enjoyed. If you can see the crease your looking at the wrong features.

Its crap. I have it. U cant message with screen closed as the keyboard is too small and screen too narrow. I'd swap it for s23 anytime
I'm 65, and my son suggested this phone for me as I am practically bedbound. I have not seen an optometrist for 20+ years. This phone allows me to have a really comfortable viewing experience. My favorite pastime is watching animes and amvs. It is wonderful not having to squint to have an amazing time enjoying my time immersed in bl, isakai, and reincarnation manga and anime.

anything specific that you'd like to know about the watch 6?
i d ve liked 2 things : The folded aspect ratio is a bit narrow and long.. would rather have it to be similar to the "regular" slightly wider form factor as seen in conventional smartphones and folding out to even bigger form factor say 8" or 8.5" .. secondly an inbuilt holster for the S Pen like note series and the current S series Ultra versions with similar functionalities. hope samsung brings into their next fold version!

When Samsung puts the upgradeable SD card back I'll buy it. My husband bought the Z Fold 5 and loves it but is hindered by this Issue, too. He told me to keep my Note Ultra 20 until there's an upgradable SD card option, like my Note 20 Ultra has. Samsung would see a huge boost in sales if they put the upgradeable SD card back. Till then ...

You are my favorite reviewer now..always wait for your videos...i want to ask one question that currently using s23 ultra which is a beast and i want to try the z fold 5..is it worth considering to upgrade from s23 ultra because there is less capable camera on z fold 5 than s23 ultra.
I wouldn't say it's worth it.
But its quite a different experience.

It's not bad... It isn't as good as the s23 ultra.. But for 95% of the things you'll take pictures of, they'll be the same

Fold 5 is not an upgrade from the S23 Ultra, I'd say if anything its a downgrade. All the fold has going for it is the bigger screen.
I got my wife the flip5 and me the fold 5. It's her first folding phone and my second. Coming from the fold 3. I love this phone. All the features you think you'll never use, you'd be surprised at how many you will. It was a no-brainer for me cause of the trade-in and storage upgrade with the pre-order. So yeah. This phone is a gem.
Does the flip and does the external screen on the z support the s-pen?

Hi mobiscrub i first got my samsung galaxy fold the first model had it for just over 3 years, it finally gave up the ghost. loved the phone ,I now have just ordered the new samsung galaxy fold 5 and looking forward to using it for my work. But after watching your stream and seeing how much more the fold can do ,Amazed me thankyou so much for putting up the stream and it's content's
off what it can do. I am glad i found this information on the fold5 .thankyou.
Waiting for them to make a different aspect ratio, something that looks like a "Note" from the front.

The problem with fold and flip phones is the outdated chip that is always replaced with a new and better one in the galaxy S line just a few months after the folds go on sell

I switched from an S22 Ultra. No regrets so far, the inner screen is beautiful. I hope they make an "Ultra" version with a built in S pen and a bigger front screen

Thats a downgrade not an upgrade. U lost out on the inbuilt spen with bluetooth functionality, better cameras all around and even dust resistance. Also the 4400 mah battery against the 5000 in the s22 ultra

It looks great, but the outer screen being too narrow and no S-Pen support, no S-Pen slot, small battery and camera system "outdated" vs. S23 Ultra, it's simply a no brainer for me!
I'll wait until some of these current deal breakers are implemented, until then I'll keep on playing on my S22 Ultra which is still a beast!
Totally agree.. but that taskbar functionality and the ability to work 3 apps on the screen, plus a 4th floater.. it's so much easier and pleasing on the fold! I'm fine with the outer screen which lends to easier one hand usage for quick txts and calls. Been using both and still undecided on which to keep..

I love my fold 5. But only problem is outer display. Because of the Aspect ratio

@@hamster_96 I agree - I think one of the advantages of the Fold5 is the aspect ratio / form factor of the outer screen.
Good review right to the points.
The fact that it is smaller in my pocket than my old Note phones, while having an even bigger display when needed as well as still being able to have a pen (I can't not have the pen now after using the Note for best part of a decade), just seals the deal for me. Combined with my 5G unlimited data plan, its become the pocket computer I have wanted for years.

I use Z fold 5 and I love it. I agree with everything you say. I know now that I can not go back and use a non-fold phone. it's not an option any more. And, yes, being able to actually create and edit your excel spreadsheet all from your smartphone is amazing.
Outstanding video! It's funny that before I didn't really care about foldables, but now that I take online college classes and sometimes find myself browsing the course material on my phone when I am on the go, I now see the value in having that bigger screen and just having a versatile, portable computing device overall.
I will wait until the Z fold 6 comes out and then the price for a used (like new) Z fold 5 should come down (or maybe Samsung will offer great trade-in deals for a new Z fold 6. We'll see).
Just got my Z fold 5 like 2 weeks and am loving it. A lot of folks haven't had a smart phone when they started to become mainstream. I used to have little androids made by Huawei and those companies. The screens were small. Heck even the Sidekick xl. It's so easy to get used to the Z folds from skinny display. It's not bad at all and it is so crisp. Like with most things you get used to it. Z fold 5 is all that. And this is coming from a note 9 user.
