This video actually tested the older style versions with incandescent escape lights made around 1995-Current if you’re talking about the First Alert SA304. But Kidde and First Alert have made newer alarms with lights that have a very bright LED light like the Kidde i12080A and First Alert P1210E. The brightest I’ve seen is the Kidde i9080 which would make a huge improvement than the older style alarms.
Hey SER Safety, you really are an icon to fire alarm collectors. I only have around 80 items in my collection but I’m sure you’ve got like 200 or more. Keep being amazing!
thank you SO much for this vid! i've been wondering about this for a long time now. after watching the video, i'm glad i decided to not buy them and just spend extra money buying emergency lights.
I agree with you. Also, you just need an interlinked fire alarm system with fire detectors that are capible of detecting early fires, so that you can evacuate before the house fills up with smoke and gets engulfed by flames.
I have Yolink automation. I have their smoke/CO alarm and I have a scene if it goes off to sound a siren, the speaker hub which says with a voice it is a fire, it turns on all the lights I have linked to it and shuts down the HVAC system. For water leaks it sounds an alarm and turns the water main to the house off.
Thanks for showing us more options of what's more powerful than a smoke alarm with a light. I will go with the emergency light because you said that it's more useful than the smoke alarm with the light.
My take on that is I could see this being marketed toward people who are deaf or hard of hearing. In that situation having that light could be a good indicator to alert someone who is deaf or hard of hearing that the alarm is going off.
I was going to comment “Welcome back” but I realized that for the past several months RUclips has been doing the glitch where it doesn’t notify me when certain channels upload.
you know why dont people have commercial fire alarms in their homes? loud alerts to wake you up in the night time when paired with detectors, you can install them outside to alert your neighbors to call 911 for you if you cant do that and there's a fire that they cant see from the windows
After watching this video, I decided to keep a knife flashlight combo beside my bed. I also have emergency lighting in my bedroom. I’m aware of chances of midnight power outage and I can relocate it if I needed to
I always thought these lights were meant for someone with a hearing loss? Like the light lets someone know that the alarm is going off if they can’t hear it.
The escape light on a smoke alarm is intended to guide people to where the escape route is. Typically these alarms with lights are mounted at the top of the staircase on the landing area ceiling so people can find their way to the staircase and descend from that point. These escape lights are not there to act as a torch!
The last Lockdown Drill I had at my School was different than usual because they activated the Fire Alarms a few minutes after the Lockdown Drill had started.
Probably cause they were behind on doing drills. My school barely did fire drills like they were supposed to and never did lockdown drills or tornado drills.
How is this different then an emergency light then? is it that they are bigger/brighter? just trying to understand since i thought that they were trying to replicate the job of an actual emergency light when looking at them and the whole concept behind them or at least that's how they are advertised. does that mean that emergency lights are useless in a fire too in the same way? that makes me wonder about exit signs and combos too. can anyone explain this please? thanks very much in advance. :)
S.E.R I have important news when i in the washroom at school someone pull the fire alarm when i get out of the bathroom I hear the bell Its like 4 seconds 1 sec 1sec 1 sec and keep going 1 sec 1sec 1sec when we made out we see our principal call 911 for fire fighter then everyone said ooooooooohhhhh and ahhhhhhhhhhhh location canada 215st winterburn school

It’s nice to get videos with the same vibe that your videos had when I first subscribed to your channel. Keep ‘em coming!
You can also hook those emergency lights up to your CFS (central fire system) to come on whenever the alarm is tripped which is also useful.
I’ve always thought the idea of an escape light was great. It can also provide a visual indication of an alarm. Great video as usual!
To provide a visual alarm, a strobe would be more effective.

Umm in my house we have a smoke alarm old ones and it wen't off without smoke easly what does that mean does that mean we have to replace it

I never thought about it that way. thanks
I have Sa304s and one Sa303 is the Sa303 rare?
My opinion is they belong close to an exit so even if you barely see it it’ll help you see the exit a little better
I actually hooked up some really strong emergency lights along with some smoke alarm relays so when the smoke alarms go off the lights come on

Ser is the best
Escape light ones cost about the same as regular ones, first alert makes some rlly bad ones, but the kidde and x-sense ones are nice and bright
That first alarm’s sound stands out. Instead of a “peep peep peep” like in many alarms, that one sounds like “peeeeep peeeeeep peeeeep”.
This seems pretty interesting! Don't think we've got smoke alarms with escape lights in the UK. Some very good information here
i saw some at the range

My first alert fire alarm keeps going off and won’t stop it turns on a Actually very bright small light
Great video
the led ones, which you didn’t show, are better

It’s because they want to stress not to evacuate when the fire alarm goes off during a lockdown, look at parkland.
I love your videos
Cool I used to have one but it was replaced
Isn’t the purpose of the light more for hearing impaired people than an actual source of light?
There's ones with bright strobes for ADA. Those will be more visible.
@@Georninja the only one I know of is the one made by gentex, but it’s not cheap, in fact it’s pretty expensive.
@@mattdude yeah they aren't cheap. Also FirstAlert has one too.
Ohh really cool video!! ...
REAL S.E.R SAFETY
Yaaaaaaaaaay ser safety

Those emergency lights from what I know are not meant for fire there jsut meant when the power goes out in a storm flood or another disaster
Cool Video!
Nice video but that flashlight is 100% not 80,000 lm looks more like 800 lm or less
Cool video!
Cant find your webside
What about the nest protect
They don’t have an escape light. If you’re thinking of the path light, that doesn’t activate during alarm mode.
Thank you
The flashlight almost looks like a lightsaber 😀❤️👍
Nice
It is it’s like an escape light so u can see in smoke
I've been here since 2016

The Gentex smoke alarm with strobe is still better
Very simple....use conventional fire alarm system with 2 zone ...its not much...it can save ur lives...
I feel like First Alert should start using LED bulbs.
They have once with their model P1210E
@@Photoelectric_Elevators Bigger LED bulbs.
If they went with a strobe instead of a light then it would probably be better
early!
Yeah it makes sense, but it doesn't really work
Hello :)
💀
I’ve never liked this type of alarm
my name is hugomoreno
