VR Home Fire Demonstration - Sprinklered and Unsprinklered (room with sprinkler first)

  • You are about to experience two fires, in two rooms that were set up with identical furnishings. The rooms are the same size; same windows and doors. The fires in both rooms were ignited within combustible materials commonly found in typical living rooms. One room is protected with a home fire sprinkler. The other is not. Look up, look down and behind you. Find the sprinkler in the ceiling. At 37 seconds, heat from the fire activates the sprinkler, controlling the fire and preventing it from becoming deadly. After the sprinkler activated, there is very little damage. The room is wet, but intact. If a family were sleeping, the sprinkler would have given them time to safely escape. The fire is confined to the room of origin and the family would likely be able to stay in the home or move back in a few days.
    Without fire sprinklers, a house fire can become deadly in two minutes. The fire burns hot and fast. Look around the room and see the toxic smoke spread. There is nothing to stop the fire, so it builds strength, generating heat and smoke until flashover - the point at which everything in the room ignites. No one can survive flashover. Look around the room without the fire sprinkler. Everything is destroyed by the extreme heat and smoke. There would be only seconds for the family to escape a fire before flashover. The destruction in this room makes it clear: the home is uninhabitable and a complete loss.
    This is a 360° video. Click and drag to look around the room.
    Home fire sprinklers are the only technology that can stop a fire from becoming deadly.

    A man in California installed his own fire sprinkler system and some months later his home had a fire in the kitchen. The sprinklers worked perfectly. During the investigation afterwards it was determined that he had not obtained permits nor had inspections of his handiwork. He was cited and fined.

      So typical of commie-fornia. No fine, had he not have any fire protection installed? He should counter-sue. Whatever happened to innocent-until-proven-guilty? Obviously he was not incompetent, yet a lot of politicians are incompetent, corrupt, and worse.

      It is not so much "laws" that are stupid, but rather the evil stupid Democrats that pretend like they can just boss people around. Requiring permits and inspections seems like a potential flagrant violation of people's property rights, also their liberty. If nothing was done wrong, then why exactly would permits or inspections be needed for a person's own property, that is not a public place anyway?

      In my state (MD) it's more expensive to insure a sprinkle red home than a non-sprinklered home. Statistically, during the course of ownership of a home, that home may or may not have a fire in it. At some point, however, a home with an installed sprinkler system will eventually have an incident where the system is either damaged, activated, or malfunctions, flooding the home and causing a massive insurance claim.
      Yes; sprinkler systems save lives, which is the absolute top priority. They do, however, come with a price.

    As I watched this, I thought, "This must be a co. advertising sprinklers". BTW guys, there's an unmelted candle on the table beside the sofa, nice try.

    • @karenkrohn8003
      @karenkrohn8003 Месяц назад

      So? The candle still looks intact and unmelted in the unsprinklered room at 1:43, more than a minute after the sprinkler was activated in the sprinklered room. Heat rises, so the candle on the low coffee table was probably not damaged until flashover occurred. Those sprinklers work.
