Great collection! By any chance do you have any smoke detectors that have Radium 226 instead of the typical Americium 241 source for it's ionization chamber? I have been looking for one for years!
Love this video! That Unitec detector is extremely rare, I've never seen one like that before. Weird that the Honeywell TC49A's burned the walls, our old house had one that we replaced that left the same burn marks on the ceiling.
@@kylehill3643 This is an old comment from before I knew what it actually was. They actually did not burn the walls, it was an ionizing effect created by the radiation from the smoke detector. Like in those 'air ionizer' air cleaners, the radiation precipitates dirt out of the air and causes it to stick to any surface near the unit, namely on the wall or ceiling it's mounted on. It is even more apparent in those old Honeywell smoke detectors because they contain a lot of Americium in comparison to normal modern smoke alarms. The same effect happens with air ionizers, they leave a mark of brown/black looking like a burn mark if you leave them on in one place for too long. So let this be a PSA
Hi. This is D.E.A.F.inc Smoke Detectors. We are ready to serve you as a customer so would you like one? You can have loud for 39.99$ Louder for 49.99$ or LOUDEST for 99.99$
If the 350.57045s still aren't working, try adjusting the sensitivity knobs. They are the little black circles with the curved edges on the inside, and you should just be able to twist them. It seems to be a common flaw with those where the knobs get out of place and cause the detector to not function properly. If that doesn't work, then the detectors may just be done for.
Does activating the alarm prove that it would work for smoke or only that the battery is still good? Wouldn't it be better to expose the units to actual smoke?
I absolutely love your collection! That Unitec smoke alarm would be my favorite in this collection along with the two Honeywell TC49A’s. I really hope to get alarms exactly like these one day.
Holy #&*/ that Unitec is extremely, extremely rare! As a fellow smoker alarm collector, I’m proud to say that you definitely have an awesome collection of rare smoke alarms.
1:05 My friend has one of these in his house, I think these alarms are really rare and interesting Edit: the button on his is on the middle of the alarm, not the side like the ones shown in the video. also interesting Edit 17-3-22: well it turns out he replaced it and he actually gave it to me so I got to look at it up close!
The one at 3:25 seems much better than the modern First Alerts with an escape light. It seems to have a larger and brighter light, and a 2nd battery to power the light. It also features first alerts light test when all you had to do was shine a flashlight at it to test it. Seems like they have gone backwards, now the escape lights are dinky and only have one battery for the horn and light. Also why eliminate the light test? Seemed like an easy way to test. Sorry but first alert has slid backwards in that regard
My grandma has the one with the escape light in the corner of her basement. I also believe there’s one in the garage but I think there’s no battery in it. My brother also got one from eBay.
i used to have those second rare smoke alarms in my house in the late 1980's at a u.s. army base in west germany. part of me wonders if these were rare in part due to being a regional brand of smoke alarm.
Wow that Unitec alarm looks old and very neat. Can't wait to see a testing video of that. It would be neat to hear what it sounds like. The Sears alarm with the heat sensor is also exactly what the First Alert SA76RS sounds like as they have the same horn and sensor. I love doing that as well by putting my finger over the horns output hole and making that funny sound effect on my SA76RS. I was expecting the Fyrnetics model to have a squealer horn not a piezo like yours does. Must have been an earlier model as it is almost the same size as the Sears. And the unknown unit is a Honeywell. You have some really cool older detectors.
@The Adventures of Jayden and Elijah Nielsen wow it's as old as me. I was born in 1973. For a smoke detector that is ancient. For a person that's actually considered young these days. Lol. I can believe you when you say it's rare.
@@SERSafety i have a brk 86 rac smoke alarm it was still instaled in october of this year and it was installed in the house in 1995 and it still works although it does being the age it is it does false alarm sometimes but not all the time it just needs the sensor cleaning
If you are ever willing to part with one of your older Sears models (squealer horn) ones let me know I would take it off your hands as I noticed you had two of the same ones. My parents had that older unit in their old house and it sounds just like the First Alert SA76RS which I have. They had the same horn and sensor.
When I was young we used to have old one's in my house hardwired and interconnected from the early 1980's and were very yellow from age but worked and were a constant sound just like the one you plugged in when they went off, and we had a coal stove and sometimes it would block up and smoke the house and they would scream and I couldn't hear myself think not fun.sadly they broke over the years and on was left but the roof leaked and shorted it out. I would have love to kept it as a collection piece.
i have a general electric from my grandmas old house. there were new smoke and carbon monoxide kiddes but in the hallway there was that. i put a battery in it once and tested it. before we moved i took it. i also found one at a swap meet.
My grandpa has the second one in the garage. pretty sure it doesn't even work XD. I can't beleive people collect smoke alarms. kinda cool. I have one that's a bell and you wind it up and heat sets it off

I used to have two that looked like the "shower head" one except round and smaller- as a kid I used to joking compare it to a mini strainer screwed to the ceiling. It never went off (even in the event of a fire) so it probably didn't work :] Also I had no idea smoke alarms could burn one's wall/home 0_o

What do you mean by 'burned the walls'? The word BURN and smoke detector doesn't sound like it should go together.

@@kylehill3643 hopefully a lot
Maybe it's just poor radiation shielding. I wonder how much actually escapes those detectors?
I have the second smoke alarm you said was rare to find. It has been in my house since I started living there. They are VERY LOUD.

Great video Nice collection! That's something that old smoke detector started burning the wall and like you said could of started a fire
I'd be curious to see you test old smoke detectors with fire and smoke to see if they function as well.
The last one is by honeywell, its on the front in the middle, i have a CD200A, made in 1978 (we replaced it when we moved in)
Does activating the alarm prove that it would work for smoke or only that the battery is still good? Wouldn't it be better to expose the units to actual smoke?
The general electric detectors I found 2 of them one next door and a nother one somewhere
I had some in my old house

I had the first alert one with the escape light in my basement a long time ago and you setting it off brings back memories

Pork Doigoi i was gonna say that
i beleve it says honeywell to what i can just about see but cant really make out on the front of the alarm at 5:28 in the video.
Can you test only 1 of your First Alert PC900V’s with Solo C6 pls?
can you wire the smoke alarms up to a pull station.
3:12 - 3:16 OK, who's strangling a deer? 😂😂😂😂😂
3:22 I found that one in my grandparent's former house near Green Bay. I found one NIB in a room but lost it. I may be able to find it someday.
5:49 sounds like one of those old vibratone horns as well. Same pitch.
Nice sa76rc! That is a later model. The test button is intriguing. What does it look like?

s.e.r safety thanks for the heads up i replace two a first alert sa67b and a first alert sa150b with a kiddie kn-cosm-ba
I have a Honeywell tc49a. It has a cord that is about 9 feet long and plugs into an outlet for power. It’s from January 1977.
Remove it it burns 🔥
Those GE's are the 8201-401c the 8201-101 is the classic square version with the battery flag and takes 12.6 volts
the GE alarms you said we're super rare them are pretty common here in Oklahoma
