Just wanted to extend my gratitude for this video. Got a T70 at a garage sale for twenty bucks a few months ago, but only recently got some film for it.
Thankyou so much for your video. I have just pulled mine out after 20 years of it sitting in a sealed box. Put batteries in and its fired up so I'm buying film and taking it on holidays. I love your delivery, understanding that the 20 year olds picking up a film camera have no knowledge of how it all works.
So glad I found this vid. I recently got my T70 out from the wardrobe. I bought it new in 1983 for a whopping 2,500 AUD! A very expensive camera at the time, it came with a 35-70mm lens, tripod and flash. At the time it took great photos of my children as babies. The battery door is fine but the metal battery contact plate and door lock lever under it has come adrift, hopefully some glue will fix that. You have refreshed my memory of the functions thank you. After decades of no use I intend to use it, especially now I know how to use a camera properly and have had many competition awards. 👌🏽
Holy, 2500 AUD. That’s so crazy that to even fathom a price that high. I wonder if current cameras will one day drop significantly like that. Crazy how technology changes over time
Im in the process of doing my final project in Middle School, and I picked up the T70 to try some analog photography for my project. Thank you so much for the video, super helpful guide for getting started - found everything I need to go out and start making some exposures.
Hi, thanks for your kind words, it's an excellent camera that will grow with you as your knowledge grows, I wish you well with your project, please feel free to come back to me if you have questions 😁
This video helped me SO MUCH from loading a new roll of film into the camera body to rewinding the exposed roll of film & taking it off for development as well as all the other T70 settings I needed to be aware of! Very helpful video indeed, Thank-you for posting!
This is such a useful and helpful video - thank you so much for your clear & concise explanation! My uncle gave me his old T70 for a visual anthropoogy project ik working on and after watching this I'm all set and ready to experiment with this 🙏🏽
I just found one of these in my old things recently no idea where it came from but I’m sooo glad I found this guide thank you. Going back from digital to film is a trip from my childhood and I love it. Can’t wait to show with film again
Thank you so much!! My uncle just gifted me this camera and as I have never worked with film before, this has been a major help. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Cheers!
I just picked up my very first film camera and I loveee it! Specially reading the reviews. Almost bought the AE-1 but T70 stuck to me. Also had a big interest with plastic film cams but was recommended to invest on a real one instead of disposing everytime. Appreciate this video sir! Cheers!
Hey, thanks for your kind words and an excellent choice of camera, the AE 1 is so overpriced imho The T79 offers a great specification at the price, have fun and feel free to come back to me if you have any issues or questions . .
I just wanna show my gratitude. Just shopped a second hand T70 to play around while I’m in cinema grad. Thank u so much for the help. Also have a question, I bought a zenit and a AGFA SOLINAR, have u ever use one of this? Sorry my poor vocabulary, English is not my first language. Regards!
I had a T70 years ago and enjoyed using it. The nonstandard interface takes a bit of getting used to. On today's secondhand market, I'd recommend a T70 over an AE-1 which I think have become overpriced.
Hi, I tend to agree with your assessment, the AE-1 and it's inflated price seem crazy to me, the A1 is another overpriced camera in my opinion, best wishes, Graham
Great Video thanks so much just got given one of these so looking forward to getting out with it. Possibly stupid question but how do you turn it off ? is it just take out the batteries or if I put it on "Lock" does that mean off ?
Great review! my grandparents just gave me this with another 3 lenses, excited to use it. quick question though, if i put in the film, take a couple shots but cant find anything else interesting enough to shoot is it fine to leave the film and batterys in for a while til i use it next ? or will taking the batterys out unroll the film and uncount the shots i took ?
@@wasabae.filmss Hi, it's fine to leave the film in the camera, the batteries can be left for a short while but remove them if not planning to use it for a while, the batteries are liable to leak quite easily and can wreck the camera...
I got mine for free with the lens in perfect condition, no dust anywhere, I got it for free because the previous owners battery’s had exploded inside of it so there was a low chance of survival for the camera but thankfully I managed to clean out the inside with a couple cotton buds and works perfectly, absolute bargain. plus I have a friend who can develop it so It’s really cheap
Hi, you can't beat free, happy that you cleaned it up and got it working and handy that you have someone for developing, have you shot your first roll with it?
@@thephotographersbag I haven’t shot my first entire roll with it as I only managed to get some film today, because it’s like gold dust where I am, I have shot a few pictures with it though, and it seems to be working perfectly. Just got to wait until the film is developed so see how it turns out
This video was so helpful for me and my new toy!!! Silly question - when I turn slide it down to “lock” my camera doesn’t turn off. Any idea on how to turn it off?
Hi, even when turned to the lock position, the LCD will always display the frame counter if I remember correctly, this is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about, is this what you are asking about?
thanks so much for the video! My T70 stopped advancing my film after 2 pictures and it made the beeping noise and the three lights started blinking. is the motor broken?
Great video thanks! Just got one of these from a old camera shop and some of the old leather case has shedded bits on to the inside of the lense. Any tips for cleaning it out without damaging anything? Thanks
Hi, just use an air blower, clean soft bristle brush, clean the glass with a lens cloth, if it's gone actually in the lens that will be harder to get to and maybe the lens needs dismantling, not a job for the inexperienced....
Hello ! Thank you for your vidéo, it's very helpful. How did you manage a double exposure on the t70 I thought it had a motor that pushes the film automatically ?
Hi, you are correct, the T70 does not do multiple exposures, reloading an exposed film and shooting again is the way, did I show double exposures in the video, I can't remember? (Old age!!)
Hello! This video was very use to me as someone who’s finally moving from disposable camera to real film. When I put my roll of film in and shut the door, it didn’t automatically load like yours did. I then wasn’t thinking and took a picture and I heard the film move, did I mess this part up? Is my roll of film “ruined” now? Thank you!
Hi, your film is not ruined, the camera advances the film after each picture is taken, if you look at the screen on the top of the camera you should see a frame counter, it probably shows the number 2 There should also be a diagram of a film cannister with an animation showing that the film is loaded....please come back if still unsure but it sounds fine 😀
This video was extremely helpful!! My girlfriend just gave me her dad’s old T70 and I was very interested but didn’t know where to begin. One question though: Mine doesn’t turn off the way yours seems to (by putting the switch back into the lock position). Do I need to take it to be repaired? Or am I missing something?
@@peytonwaldera4897 Hey, no problem, please feel free to come back to me if you have any questions or issues, enjoy your "new" camera, make some memories 😀
Hi! My camera is not beeping to indicate that the roll is done but the number isn’t going up past 39 (I believe I have 42 shots - it’s old film) I should be past that number now. Should I try to take a look inside and risk it or just rewind the film anyway?
Hi, the camera is working just fine, 35mm film has always had 36 exposures, 42 seems a strange number!, It could be that the film has become detached from the canister in which case only open in a darkroom or changing bag, my suggestion is to gently try rewinding the film without pressing the button on the bottom, IE, take up the slack is there is any, if you feel resistance then you have used all the film, then rewind as normal, If the rewind is very loose then there is a chance that the film has become detached from the film canister, in which case the camera will need unloading in a darkroom or changing bag....
recently got one, my first ever film camera so trying to wrap my head around it. i've got an issue that i've tried to google but can't find anything, there's 3 dashes that shows the film cartridge, the middle one is greyed out, what does that mean? hopefully you can help as i've had no luck so far
Hi, most likely the film will be a negative film, in which case the latitude will come in handy Most negative films can tolerate a couple of stops of overexposure, under exposure is best avoided, I would say an ISO setting of 100 should be fine, that equates to +1 stop of overexposure for a film that should be shot at 200, and +2 stops if the film is a 400 speed film, it could be a higher rated film but these speeds are the most commonly sold film stocks, hope this helps 😁
Hey I have a question regarding my t70 if anyone can help, basically if I press the shutter button it will not continue to take photos and also when I take a photo, the view finder goes black, I have to press the shutter button again to then take another. Any ideas? I've tried various settings and cannot find a solution. Thanks
@@thephotographersbag hi! I appreciate the reply!. Yes battery is fine new set, three bars. I had another t70 that uses to take continuous shot when holding the button and everything was fine until it eventually broke beyond repair. I then purchased another, this one works, but it just feels slower when taking photos and it won't shoot in full auto when holding the shutter button. I have tried changing the speed to a higher number etc. I do see a number "2" " not sure what this means on the screen. Basically I have to press the shutter to take a photo then press again for it to advance to be ready for another instead of the camera automatically doing this. I hope I explained this good enough. Thanks
Does anyone know what to do when the film doesnt want to load up after i close the cover? Also for some reason even that i put in new batteries the 3 marks are always blinking.
I had the same problem I just made sure that the film was in firmly with the bumps at the bottom when loading and then closed it and hit the shutter button and it worked
Thanks for your video champ, I'm wondering why it is that my T70's shutter speed won't change when I'm on it. The iso and shooting mode work fine... Could you please help?
I had the exact same problem! If you haven't figured it out yet, there's a circular lever to the left of the lens (as you're looking at the front of the camera) with a dot on it. If the dot on the ring/lever is matched to the dot on the body, the exposure is locked. Rotate it clockwise to release it.
it's much more advanced then the t50. T50 is a point and shoot with P and interchangeable lens. Cameras "worth buying" are the t70 if is cheap or t90, nothing in between.
