My husband just died Friday and yall were his favorite band thanks for giving him awesome music...im so lost without him but this was one of his favorites to play to thanks it's giving me some comfort and now i understand what as heavy as stone means...
Im sorry to hear about your husband
Prayers Crystal, Be strong girlfriend. Bless you. My deepest condolences........
❤
It's kind of bittersweet it reminds me of mikey so much but I can't even grasp the truth of him not being alive and I don't want this life without him
And heavy as a stone means it's the weight of his death is making my heart heavy so heavy and all the pain is turning me colder with that I now have a heart of stone
Today is October 7, 2023. This is the Dave Matthews Band that I know. I miss the original five members. I find change very hard.
Me also but I still love them … I miss the guy on the violin 😊
@@sakeenarock3937 Yep. He had some weird kinks but I do definitely miss his violin/fiddle playing.
I was there that night.
On two hits of real ecstasy.
I was with 50,000 of the best friends that I had never met.
When he played (for the first time, btw) the Long Black Veil, I lost my shit!
Sometimes, it’s too hard to listen to Dave.
But right now, ohhh this hits just right.
Thank you, DMB.
You were on so much ecstasy that it more than doubled the capacity of the venue.....
I'm sure it was a magical night though.
@@anthonybick9264 Fair enough lol (not previously aware of stadium capacity, but it was packed to the gills!) It sure was a magical night. 👍🏼✌🏼
96. Phx..22 on e n shooms.. Epic
so awesome
Everybody's sleeping on the bass on this song but it really rounds out the sound... beautiful
Not everybody. I hear that.
Ain't nobody sleeping on Mr. Lessard!
Stephan is incredible. Unfortunately bass is something that kinda blends everything else. He's exceptional imo tho
So Deep. So Profound. So DMB.
This never ages...it's as familiar as a friend from childhood.....
I just saw them live for the first time. I was struck by everyone's voice and great musical Performance. I love u DMB!!!
Awesome huh? What I would give to go back and experience my first show again… December of 98’ in Worcester. Luckily the show eventually became Live Trax 1, so I can still listen when I want haha.
Miss the violin 🎻 🧡
Wowwwww im a metal head and dave is THE MAN
One of my best friends is like you. Like that hardcore stuff, but melts to DMB.
The secret weapon here is Butch taylor on keys. Creates a little cloud that fills in the gaps. 99/2000 was a great time to be a DMB fan!
Oh hell yes I agree.
Bass line pretty good too
he was the best. imo he completed the band. those were certainly the best years when he was on stage with them
Butch was the best. This is the best version of Dmb to me; core 5 members plus bitch Taylor. The best they’ve ever sounded
Not as good a time as 92-94....20 dollar shows that lasted 4 hours
Makes me miss LeRoi! What a masterful musician.
Great job from all the members.
Love and miss you LeRoi :(
This performance could be turned into a movie.
Dave’s quite an underrated guitarist. Singing along and playing this melody live is glorious to see.
Love this rendition of this song. Amazing performances by all musicians but I have to say CB is the best drummer I’ve ever heard. Dude can do anything.
He makes his kit talk..
word.
He's great for sure. My favorite is still Dave Grohl, but it's different music obviously.
Not here to debate, just contribute to the conv...Danny Carey... another drummer that can do anything
Carter is THE man!
From 5:03 on may very well be the greatest, most soothing 2 minutes of music to my soul. Thank you, DMB.
Although Leroy, is out of tune 90% of the time, that is actually very good, everything is in harmony :)
Give me goose bumps
yess!!! I totally agree
The dynamics of how they break down to just dave and the guitar just blows my mind.
Takes me to another plane.
best version of their best song (tied with #41)
One of my all time fav DMB songs along with Seek Up and #41. Listener Supported is one of their best albums as well.
To me listener supported is one of the best live albums in music history
Absolutely, Seek Up live is crazy good.
Two Step live in central park gives me goosebumps.
Live at Red Rocks 95’ is my fave.
Thought i knew all of thier glory, but i had never heard 'Seekp up' before. Thank you!
#41 from this concert is simply amazing
All of the masters of their own craft and LeRoi was the engine that made the band so amazing!
The transition from 5:02 and on is so freaking beautiful. Brings tears everytime.
One of my absolute favorite DMB tunes. Something about this song speaks to my soul.
Man I miss the original 5. Still great, just not the same.....
Sad thing is that the shows are still so good. Sad, but awesome. It's weird
Sucks because the weirdo sock sniffing violinist is gone .
@@jamesroboyle I don't understand why they can't audition for another violinist to replace Boyd? They Brought in Jeff Coffin to try an fill LeRoi's spot and that departure was due to tragic death, not sexual assault case. I know that the situation isn't something to laugh about as I was a victim of rape/molestation on multiple occasions from a family "friend" as a child but your "sock sniffing" comment made me laugh so hard!! Thank you
@@adrianezzo1696 Boyd's been with the band since the beginning, he was and probably is still considered a brother to them, even if he's not in the band. It's hard to replace a fellow band member and a good friend that's been with you from the start and has never had any instability up until this point. Jeff was an exception because he's played with the band numerous times with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and knows the Dave very well. Can't really remember any violinists that's played with the band before as a special guest. I'd say Boyd is irreplaceable, not just as a violinist, but also as fiddle player and a flute player.
@@videowatcher551 flute player? Boyd don’t play no flute, dude.
I love watching Boyd play that fiddle with those magnificent arms.
That’s so neat how the drums go in between the notes of the lead guitar
Brilliant song. Brilliantly played. Love. Love. Love.
THIS is an absolute perfect moment
THIS IS MESMERIZING ❤❤🎉🎉😊😊
One of the best versions to this day
NO DOUBT!!!!
Probably could say that about every song on this live album. Still one of my favorite live albums from them
Saw them many times at this venue, may have been there rolling around on the lawn. Dave.is.magic.❤
The violinist, absolutely gorgeous!
Ok well he sexually assaulted another band member so yeah. It wasn’t in this band, he formed a band and that’s where the crime happened
This song is a journey down a path unknown
A beautiful song, Dave Mathews Band has unrivaled instrumentals. It's rare to find musicians who can do this well
This song helps me with my obsessive compulsive disorder sometimes my head won't hold on but somehow this gives me the inner strength
One of my top 3 favorites...this is the best live version of it for sure. Every song on this dvd is the best version 😝
What are the other 2?
Loving this song since 97!!!!
Best. Song. Ever.
Oh, how I miss the old DMB. Don't get me wrong, still love them but I do miss the LeRoi and Boyd sound
The drumming on this track is nothing short of miraculous. Also never heard a cymbal/drum combo pattern quite like 3:37-3:40.
Greatest drummer ever, what an inspiration
THIS SONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Speaks to the soul and beyong
Best live version of this song!!
Can we appreciate how awesome everyone in this setting is and how talented!!! And that bass🤩🤩🤩🤩
I've this creeping
Suspicion that things here are not as they seem
Reassure me
Oh, Why do I feel as if I'm in too deep?
Now, I've been praying
For some way to show them
I'm not what they see
Yes I have done wrong
But what I did I thought needed be done
I swear
Oh, unholy day
If I leave now I might get away
Oh but, this weighs on me
As heavy as stone and as blue as I go
I was just wondering if you'd come along
To hold up my head when my head won't hold on
I'll do the same if the same's what you want
If not I'll go
I will go alone
I'm a long way
Oh, from that fool's mistake and now forever pay
No, run
I will run and I'll be OK
I was just wondering if you'd come along
To hold up my head when my head won't hold on
I'll do the same if the same's what you want
But If not I'll go
I will go a long way
To bury the past
For I don't want to pay
Oh, how I wish this
To turn back the clock
And do over again
Now, I'm wondering if you'd come along
To hold up my head when my head won't hold on
I'll do the same if the same's what you want
But if not I'll go
I'll go alone
I need so
To stay in your arms see you smile hold you close
And now it weighs on me
As heavy as stone and a bone chilling cold
I was just wondering if you'd come along
Tell me you will
Oh and God I love Dave’s beautiful brown eyes and the wiggle he does with his eye brows 😚
Just a masterpeace. ❤️
Genius, completely e. DMB
My favorite song ❤❤
Too much greatness!
Carter Beauford on the drums!
Damn sorry 4 ur loss in heaven waiting 4 u
Imo one of the most epic build ups.. FFS this song rocks.
This song got me through 4 sh-tty years of high school 95-99'. Now it's getting me through work where another bully has emerged. Thank you for this masterpiece.
Love, love Dave Matthews! His music speaks to my heart!
I wish I could hit that like button a million times
❤
One of their bests...
This song is incredible. Brings back a lot of memories
One that that always amazes me in this performance is how the cue the end of the "sweet section" at around the 7:00 mark. Dave turns around to face Carter and gives a nod as if to indicate "this is the last time through this chords progression". But no one else except for Boyd is looking at Dave for a visual cue. And yet somehow everyone nails it.
I love this band and I am sorry for your loss
I was at this concert. Old.
Definitely my favorite song i love everything about it and that five minute mark dayum thats how u make magic . Thank you dave you changed my life with this one.
Really needed this song this week...
DMB!!!!
I love this song, especially at this concert.
Love this song.
WE SURVIVE, AND WE CAN CHANGE! SO LET IT CHANGE, JUST LET IT GO. WE PRETEND, SO NOTHING DOES CHANGE! WE'RE FLOWERS NEVER BREAKING THROUGH THE STONE.
less weed next time
Needs the quartet at the end, but still amazing!
That’s weird…I always thought this song was Satans perspective of banishment from Heaven and the weight of the impending doom he faces as a fallen angel…or something like that. DMB has been my favorite band for just about forever. Love to everyone.
Oh my heart bleeds Lord
💜
beautiful song
Boyd's playing in this is like a crazy driving metronome.
when my son was my born i was singing a song to him under my breath and my wife said "you better not be singing one of those depressing emo songs to him!" and i said i'm singing him 'the stone' because i had to hold up his head when his head couldn't hold on... and that's our little family's meaning to this song
that's beautiful. Dave would appreciate that.
Dave is the fckin man.
So phat!
good ole days
thanks joe navran for choose this song in F.O.R and thanks shazam to put a name on this big song ^^ love it
They should consider bringing back boys back or someone that can play the violin like him
I miss boyd

Came to cry
5:02 We cheer because it's 'Dave' & it's romantic - but when THAT one person that you love(d) breaks your heart, & tells you (or doesn't) they're not coming along - yeah, reality, deal.😑
I TOOK IT!
Listen to the live Charlie Rose version with just Dave 😮
how dave manages to play and sing this song will for ever confuses me
Same. I just learned how to play "So Much to Say" earlier tonight, and I have no idea how Dave can play _and_ sing so cleanly at the same time. He must have more than two channels in his brain, because most of my style layers the bassline and the melody, yet I have trouble doing that and singing. This song is next on my list :D
YOUR MASK IS GOIN! ❤🤖💌😀
Sounds fun
Lets go.e
I swear....😍😍😍😍😍
they should have made those videos available on youtube long time ago
wow
7:02 carter throws his drumstick lol
And still doesn't skip a beat...
Lmao so beast they rewrote music that day. So filthy but carter is was like controller of that day . He did pantala with a smile when he accidentally sounded better after the second verse
😎🔥
Carter losing his stick 😂 7:00
Wish Carter would get into playing his part........I mean.........looks and sounds like he doesn't really even care. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH He is too awesome!
YEAH BITCHES
Who in there (not) right mind would thumbs down this video!!!!!!
I feel …for the non sophisticated musical ear in 2000 and on. Wait I take that back. 😂 goodbye golden age it was fun while it lasted.
i saw this uploaded in 2007. by someone else and now 2018
A stoner told me to listen to this song.
You should see them live. Chillest concert I’ve ever been to.
7:02 Lost a drumstick, yet didn’t miss a beat...ridiculous.
man, where has THIS band gone?
Touring every year as usual :)
@@farrahfatiguelol not even close
@@yappo99 Do you not see the tour dates under their videos? They tour every summer, bro
@@farrahfatigue clearly you missed the point here, bro
@@yappo99 nope, it just bored me to fucking tears, go watch some childish gaybino or something bro
So-so 🤔 - Going on 70 now, I feel like Dave’s performances are rather a ‘hit or miss’ - even during the SAME concerts. I’m speaking from a vocal perspective, not his 🎸 playing. THIS one falls somewhere in the middle for me. The covers with Warren Haynes of Neil Young’s ‘Cortez the Killer’ @ MSG, and a couple others of it done around that time, were great 👍! Although in one of the 3 Dave’s voice sounded a bit ‘off key’ and sounded as though he was struggling (but imo the rest of the 17 +/- minute performance was still good enough to overlook this!).
