My Son was a huge DMB fan. He was at this concert too. He passed away last year in May so I love watching these videos in honor of my son. RIP Cal. Dad loves you.
2:05 Dave looks at Tim and realizes that Tim is taking it another level tonight .... and then he remembers that another level for Tim Reynolds is something that most mortals cannot comprehend... Dave laughs and smiles and carries on. Dave is a ridiculously talented guitar player yet.... he knows that the things that Tim Reynolds can do on a guitar are otherworldly and that Tim may be from another planet... this is too good for words... despite all the words i have used in a feeble attempt to describe it's incredible-ness.
When he shakes his head after the bridge/breakdown they've managed to play the whole circle around a few times and then dave manages to finish the lyrics lol it's great. Like Tim forgot where he was for a moment and got lost in the music.
The chemistry between Dave and Tim is undeniable and beautiful for one to witness. Life sometimes offers us gifts. Watching these two lose themselves in their craft is certainly one of those times. Unequivocally, Dave and Tim create and perform for the unadulterated sake of simply doing what they were put on this planet to do. Every one out there should take notes and follow their passion like these two gents have done! ❤
How difficult do you think it is for Dave to play his part and not sit back in complete jaw dropping awe while this shred master is absolutely destroying?
To me this is one of the best solos I’ve ever heard. It’s virtuosic but not overdone, melodic, emotionally expressive and really captures the melancholy mood of the song
I liked Dave Matthews and listen to them here and there but after seeing them live at deer creek recently for the first time I’ve been binging all of their life performances. After hearing Dave and crew no music can top them. It’s insane. This shit is just so beautiful. Takes a special person to truly understand their music and I’ve never felt this way about any other group, band, artist, rapper, etc. I love all genres but you can’t even compare dave Matthews band to anyone. He is an icon he is amazing and I am glad he exists. I am obsessed with
The best acoustic solo I've seen, just crazy complexity while remaining melodic and not chaotic... Absolutely impressive! Towards the end Dave glances over at Tim a couple times, probably to make sure the dude is human. Then the classic Dave smile at him at the end, ridiculous!
Dave & Tim is always like this doing solo for LIOG... Dave always trying to keep up, & Tim re assuring him. He even said that he always fucked up the end of the song
I just can't understand how anyone in their right mind can not like Dave, Timmy or the band! And you know there are a lot of people who don't because I've bragged about being a Dave fan for the last 20 years and I don't find many people who are fans. Its just crazy....us die hard fans are a super special group of people!!!! ❤❤❤
Danielle Prefach I bought the first Dave Matthews band cd when it first came out, my 15 year old son acquired it when he got his first car. In college at 21 years old he acquired a taste for playing guitar. Room mate played guitar and helped him learn. Within 2 months He was playing Dave covers and then started writing his own songs. Put his self the rest of the way through college playing open mike nights and then put a band together. He is a PT now and plays only for his family but we sure enjoy having our own Dave Matthews perform for us any time we can get him together with his guitar. I am a blessed mom to have this talented young man in my life. Dave Matthews has been an inspiration in our family.
I've never seen Dave or Tim personally, but I have heard them and these fella's and the band have touched my heart....my soul. They are not just great at what they do...they are gifted! And it is a gift. A damn fine gift indeed
So true. When they were in Denver a few months ago, I couldn't find anyone to go with me due to the fact they weren't fans. They don't know what they're missing.
Dave & Tim havent skipped a beat. They are truly second to none, when you get these two together. You get magic. Its this simple. Two Acoustic guitars, one voice.
patrick brewer the first time I heard them so many years ago I couldn’t believe it was just two men with guitars. So much music from two people. Then in 2010 I saw them in Seattle. Beauty in real time.
It is awesome to see someone so completely in command of their instrument. There are not lots of people out there like Tim. Prince hit me like that, and maybe SRV, but the club is small. Tim owns ever bit of that fretboard, and makes that guitar sing. Amazing.
I've watched this solo over a hundred times probably. Blows me away every time. These two are, and always will be incredible together. Luckily, I was able to see them multiple times over the years.
"I am blown away", anyone find a better duo anywhere on earth? You know when Dave looks at Tim at the end of the solo and shakes his head something special just happened.
Omg the entire band just admires each other sooo much! The look on their faces as they watch each other play is just heartwarming! It's so apparent that they love what they do, they love their fans, I just can't say enough amazing things about them! Becoming a Dave fan changed my life forever. The love I feel for Dave and the band is out of this world! Sounds crazy to some but only other Dave fans would get it and understand, which is what I just love so much!
Absolutely!! Love it! Dave always shows admiration to his band members and is constantly thanking his fans throughout the concert....Part of what I love so much about Dave and the band is just how you can feel how much they love what they do and love each other! What other musician or band goes on tour literally every year with a winter tour every other year? Just shows that they wouldn't ever want to disappoint their fans and they love what they do!! I will miss them sooo much this summer because of this virus!!
Had a friend that knew the guitar. Showed me how to play crash one way. Then showed me two other ways. Said once I learn the techniques to play he could come in and play the third way and add so much . Reynolds may be the best guitar player ever
I love the recorded version of this song, but any live version is crazy. I used to replay the solo over and over again, and when it came on in my car, I would nearly blow out my speakers turning it up all the way. There are few who can compose melodies as well as DMB, and we are all blessed by it and lives are better for it. You cannot help but be in a better mood after hearing this song.
To 😢 Fabian Monge 1978-2003. A true lover of Dave Mathew’s and Tim Reynolds! I do have videos of him (My son) playing Gray and several of these songs and man he could play!
Tim actaully discovered Dave when Dave was starting out and working as a bartender at Miller's in Va. Tim helped him gather musicians from the area whom are now still with the band.
Upvote. Tim actually discovered Dave while he was a bartender and would cover the stage when the talent wouldn't show up. From my understanding Tim Actually, and not to take anything away from DMB, i have been a huge fan seems like my whole adult life like '94'95? but Tim put the original members together. Knowing this makes the DMB featuring Tim Reynolds double disk so much sweeter. Edit: just a side note encase you didnt know Tim Reynolds is a master musician and can play pretty much anything like a boss.
I honestly think Tim Reynolds might be the best technical acoustic guitar player that ever lived. THAT EVER LIVED. He is combining metal techniques like sweep picking with other like Latin techniques like flamenco. NEITHER are easy, and he does them both at the same time. He is a genius, basically.
Tim Reynolds' solo is just out of this world. So special. Must be his most versatile performance ever of lie in our graves. Radio City one 2007 also up there, but this one has all the ingredients. In both concerts Dave looks at Tim at the end of the solo, just amazed and in awe.
I frickin cried at this show because it broke my brain how sick this solo was. It was also great because it wasnt a 3 or 4 hour drive back to syracuse. CMAC Is nice, easy in, easy out, good acoustics.

One of my all time favorite musical memories, listening to this version always gives me deep chills. When they come to CMAC every summer it is the highlight of my summer, best concert.
I was there as well. My first Dave concert ever! Honestly, haven't been to one that has topped it. Will be back in Canandaigua this year to see Dave & Tim again 😍
Was blasting this last night in the neighborhood. Upper-middle class Marin county just north of S.F. I had it up loader then I should have and it was too late for playing load music. People were cheering . One dude got tough and the whole block shit him down. It was beautiful.
My Son was a huge DMB fan. He was at this concert too. He passed away last year in May so I love watching these videos in honor of my son. RIP Cal. Dad loves you.
And somehow this is just the sad poetry so fitting of their music..
Truly sorry for your loss. So glad you find some form of comfort in their music and this concert.
@@Babyjohn8170 Thank You
@@tw5405 no thanks needed. You sharing your story It touched my heart.😌
If you don't mind me asking what did he pass from?
Reynold's solo has really evolved over the years! This version is a masterpiece. If he can top it, I'll listen to that one another million times!! LOL
Listen to the version from radio city
Tim Reynolds chill out my guy what in the actual hell, this man is not on any sort of level I can comprehend 😮
I’ve watched this multiple times, each time it still gives me goose bumps! You can feel this in your soul…
PURE EMOTION
Still one of the best renditions. The song comes alive with those two on guitars. Absolutely magical!
I am convinced Tim Reynolds is not human. One of the best solos I have ever heard from him!
Tim is beyond awesome Good, but if you aren't aware, checkout Tommy Emmanuel, sickest player ever!
That's saying a lot too. Think of all the memorable solos of his. Not of this world!
I would agree. If an alien popped out of his chest during that UNBELIEVABLE performance, I would not be surprised.
It is his best solo coming from a guy thats had lesson from him.
It was absolutely amazing
Tim Reynolds is a genious

Yes.. You nailed it.
When he shakes his head after the bridge/breakdown they've managed to play the whole circle around a few times and then dave manages to finish the lyrics lol it's great.
Like Tim forgot where he was for a moment and got lost in the music.
Then the look at 7:28 is a nod of aprooval

so glad you found this vid. It's pretty damn amazing. @@arrowhead455
Absolutely astonishing
A gift for the ages
At 3M views this video is criminally underviewed. This is probably Tim's best performance
And I’ve probably watched it at least 100 times myself lol
Jesus Christ! Tim Reynolds
Incredible
The best
same same! i love the look at each other at 7:30 mark. like “fuck, we’re badass right?!”
Indeed! Indeed! OMG!
I think you meant Jesus and Jesus

@@Cassady_420 ok it may not be hard for him, but there are times that I’ve seen him genuinely enjoying Tim’s playing.
This is the song I think of when I’m willing myself to jump into cold water to swim.
Love the look of reverence Dave gives towards Tim near the end.
absolutely! he knows how amazing Tim is and how lucky he is to be able to work with him. goes both ways though.
I never get bored of this music. This composition is awesome 😊 This is by far my favorite piece of music these two artists have done. 🎉
To me this is one of the best solos I’ve ever heard. It’s virtuosic but not overdone, melodic, emotionally expressive and really captures the melancholy mood of the song
could not agree more. may be the best solo i've ever heard.
I was at this show, front row center. Absolutely the best version of LIOG I've ever witnessed ❤❤
for damn sure. this is some next level stuff here. doesn't get much better.

DMB is something special, there live performances are awesome. The Killer Cortez with Warren Haynes is one of my favorite DMB collaborations .
The best acoustic solo I've seen, just crazy complexity while remaining melodic and not chaotic... Absolutely impressive! Towards the end Dave glances over at Tim a couple times, probably to make sure the dude is human. Then the classic Dave smile at him at the end, ridiculous!

Gave tickets away actually.
Dave & Tim is always like this doing solo for LIOG... Dave always trying to keep up, & Tim re assuring him. He even said that he always fucked up the end of the song

most of the dislikes must be from the aspiring guitarists that broke their guitars after hearing Tim play
