    I've been in your shoes. Although I'm born and raised here in Spokane and have a true mental map of the entire area, I left for a short while and relocated back. I've been a first time home buyer. I've been a house flipper. I've been a househacker. I've been a landlord. Through my own personal experience and 100+ families I've helped, I know we can put a plan together to achieve your goals and help you make a great investment here in Spokane.

    That north / south freeway will have taken 30 years to build when it was only suppose to take 8. Like he said funding was pulled but funding has been pulled several times on this project as Spokane is the red headed step child of Washington State. Olympia, Seattle, the whole metro west side over there couldn't give 2 craps about Spokane and would much rather keep the money for themselves even though it's Spokane's money in the first place. For being the 2nd largest city in the state, it sure feels like the smallest in terms of funding.

    I travel frequently by air, and in my experience, the security lines at Spokane International Airport are remarkably fast. I have never witnessed long queues as you have described. It usually takes me no more than 20 minutes to get through security. Additionally, both Alaska and American Airlines operate out of Concourse C.

      Maybe I just hit a few bad days back to back but I’ve got photos from 2 different days that we were basically standing out in the rental car area because the line was so long! But definitely not every time. Just hard to plan ahead on whether it’s going to be quick or not

    Ya know all these things are great but such a huge homeless and drug population. I’m a nurse at the local hospital here and our cars always get broken into in the structures and the patients that come in have drug problems! My husband worked in downtown and when he would go outside to get a break from the screen in the office you have homeless right there defacate right in front of him! That’s my issue with living here.

    Ive lived in Spokane my whole life see alot of Californians moving here and always have. Since where so close to idaho, get alot of terrible judgmental looks and vibes from people. Its also super snoody and looking more and more like seattle and california. Our homelessnes will increase and 5 or 10 years from now its gonna be unaffordable. Im at risk of being on the streets again, and there are some extremely bad driver's, and judgy people. Its also sorta turning into boise idaho. We live in a really fucked up judgemental society, and as a neurodivirgent individual with ptsd and substance abuse disorders spokane is getting so much worse. Fuck society.

    Because Spokane is in Washington , our local government ran Seattle into the ground and I don’t think we will recover from the insanity that is jay inslee and bob furguson. The city is on the same path. Our rights are being stripped away, and don’t forget about minimum wage hikes. Why stop at 15 dollars an hour? Heck , we should have 100 dollars an hour minimum. If you’re smart, Spokane is not the place to buy a home or live in. Any middle class family trying to find a place to live is darn near impossible. I used to love Spokane until they stopped policing homelessness and minor crimes. Just like Seattle. I’m sure everyone remembers chop Chaz and how great that was. All I’m saying is I want Spokane to thrive, I just don’t see it happening anytime soon

    Ok. I wanted to add another HUGE thing happening in Spokane in 2024. Over 10,000 active (not retired) U.S. Federal Government employees (not State workers) are getting a major GS Locality Pay increase in 2024- Spokane is getting it's own locality pay ! FAIRCHILD AFB, MILITARY, Veterans Affairs VA, ALL FEDERAL WORKERS will see a major bump in pay- But only in the Spokane area (not central or southern Washington) This is going to attract more federal employees and other jobs associated with the federal government. Which in turn is gonna increase the need for housing. Guys, I am telling you, Spokane is gonna boom. Water, decent weather, medical care, universities, better paying jobs, NO STATE INCOME TAXES ON WAGES and opportunities are going to significantly bring a lot more people here. Just sayin', don't sit on the sidelines too long. Talk to Haydn!

      Yeah. Not thrilled that they are moving here in droves. I miss the 1980's and before when there were literally few bums or gang activity and if we had them they hung out around the bus station and gangs were hardly noticeable and shootings were rare. If they acted up they were thrown in jail and went through detox. I miss how light the traffic used to be. I miss not having to worry about walking through downtown in the evening. I miss shopping downtown and not worrying about walking past bums and stepping over the pee on the sidewalk and the constant sirens as another call had to be made over another fentynal overdose. And I miss the local stores that were all over in the neighborhoods where everyone could walk to the grocery store in their neighborhood. Now the Walmart's have driven out the little stores and older folks have to take the bus to the store. I miss going to the park and being able to park my car there and having a picnic or take the dogs for a run. Now many parking lots have barriers to keep the homeless campers from parking their R.V.'s there. I miss going down to the river and walking along the river. Now you have to dodge the homeless and walk through garbage and feces and used needles. I can here gunfire at night and if you are out in the wrong area at night you have to watch yourself. Yeah growth is great. The stores and speciality shops are nice. But I do get tired of the homeless and beggars and tweakers all over. Even in what used to be nice neighborhoods. I have seen them asleep on gradeschool grounds, and mooching for money in fast food drive through. We need to send them back to Seattle and Portland. I still love the place I grew up in but it is not all roses and sunshine. Maybe for the wealthy who live in nice areas and are more immune to the changes, but for the rest of us not so much. Yes I know pretty much the whole town. And the air force base is a big employer. It has come up on the closure list several times during budget crunches so nothing is ever guaranteed. I have a friend who has worked for a production company and is a filmmaker(we went through the same T.V. production college program/degree)and grew up in the area. He is also distressed at the changes here and talked about making a film about it. Displacement of lower income home owners is also an issue. All of the locals that grew up here are. With growth comes inequities. Also the current nomenclature is Getrification. Sure move here while you can as we have become a little Seattle. And we all know what happened there over time. So if you can snag a piece of the upper class living. Just step over the bad parts. 👍

      @@ilikecontent2327 felt that. At this rate my wife and I will be stuck in an apartment forever and we make decent money. At least it's in the South Hill and I only have to see the garbage when I drive downtown to work. But shoot it makes me wonder where we go from here.

    • @ilikecontent2327
      @ilikecontent2327 Год назад +2

      @@bridgesbane7032 Don't know?I live in a decent neighborhood, but it is close to the river so bums go through our neighborhood to head to the river where they probably have campsites. Along the river next to T.J. Meenache bridge and next to the golfcourse(also not far from me) they have their cars parked along the road and they sleep in them. Plus camp along the river. I have one I nicknamed Hobo Bob as he pushes a shopping cart through our neighborhood. He has long scraggly hair and dirty clothes. I have seen him around town. So they broke up camp hope and they just go somewhere else. God I am so glad my Dad died decades ago because if he saw this he would be infuriated! So yeah we are headed down the Seattle model path where those more affluent people will just live where they don't see the problem. I really don't go downtown anymore. I did go to the Honda dealership downtown(shopping for a truck) and it was hard to talk to the dealer outside because of the ambulances that kept showing up across the street(2 at least while I was there--probably fentynal overdoses) and the shouting from the large crowd of bums across the street. 🤦‍♀️ I started writing a young adult book a few years ago based on life in Spokane in the 1960's and 70's. It was like a step back in time. Good times... Being a kid then was great! 😊
