Started with mystery quest, found chaotic neutral, found dom, and now this! It’s like the gift that keeps on giving, another huge Cthulhu back catalogue for me to enjoy and I know already these guys will do it right
CAN IT BE?! THE APOCALYPSE PLAYERS IN THE FLESH?!?! ON TECHNICOLOR FILM!?!?!?! LET'S GOOO!!! LET'S FREAKING GOOO!!! THIS IS WHAT THE CULT OF THE APOCALYPSE HAS BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
Accents are excellent 👏 Iggy sounds like he grew up in the early century on the lower east side of Manhattan (Lots of 1st or 2nd generation Jewish, Irish, Eastern European around that time). Not so much Louisiana (that one can be tough for Americans even), but it’s a great character voice for an east coast 1930s jazz guy! I always enjoy hearing Dom’s American oldsters and creepy Southerners, they’re such a joy, and eerily accurate. Bravo folks. 20th-century New York accent pronunciation of Packard would be "packid" (thicker Brooklyn/Queens) or "pack-erd" (avg east coast).
My brain actually can't cope...this is my first time seeing what these guys look like (apart from Dom). If I had to guess which faces went with which voices, I would have got them all wrong. Mind totally blown, can't cope.
Hello. I have to admit I hadn't heard of this at all until I watched the Oxventure Diacworld and googled the name of the dwarf player. And ended up here 3 minutes in and already subbed. Will catch up on the backlog eventually. I'm very happy to have found this channel.
We hope you enjoy the backlog! This is our first video, as our main output is audio podcast (to protect the good people of the internet from the horrors of our gruesome visages), but you can enjoy it all on here or wherever you get your podcasts, all for free mind you, I'm Cutting Me Own Throat!
Addendum after finishing it in one sitting, with two cups of tea. Oh my days. How good is that (rhetorically of course). Genuine shivers at moments, and genuine laughs. So glad Oxventure lead me here, something else to listen to on walks and while painting. Off to join the discord and Patreon.
Though I know my sanity can’t take it, I must gaze upon these mighty beings in their true state. No longer bound to audio alone, they are truly beyond comprehension!
I’m actually crying watching you! You’ve been my commute companions for so long, I can’t believe I get to see you perform on my screen now ❤ please please please keep making both!
Oh yes. Praise the Great Old Ones. My prayers have been answered. Now we can see the horrified faces of the players and the gleeful grin of the keeper (especially from Dom) as gruesome scenes unfold and the maddening truth of their situation is revealed. Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn!
Considering its Cthulhu and the silent movie era it would be funny to see this done in grainy sepia black and white with subtitles like a silent movie. That would be a hell a lot of work to do though
Oh damn, we got video! I found the channel through comments on Chaotic Neutral's CoC videos. But found it a bit difficult to differentiate voices. Hopefully putting some faces to the faces will make going through the backlog a bit easier now.
I felt like I just HAD to sub to a group called "Apocalypse Players" and I'm not disappointed at all. LOVE the intro. It reminds me of those old anthology shows I grew up on (Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, etc.). Excellent roleplaying!
Praise be! Praise be to thee, glorious dark overlords! All hail thee, harbingers of the apocalypse, who, in mine greatest hour of need and out of thine immeasurable kindness, hath deemed this lowly servant worthy to gaze upon thine faces most hallow, and hath granted this worthless one the honor to be lain low at the feet of thine indescribable majesty. Praise be to thee, great Cthulhu, for cleansing mine eyes of the dross of this nether world, and for granting this most insignificant servant the fleeting opportunity to see the dark masters work in their consecrated halls of the all encompassing mythos, and for granting upon this unimportant worm the privilege of hearing the dulcet tones of their most melodious voices speak of secrets darker than the those found in the dimmest environs of lord Azathoth's inner sanctum. All hail the players of the apocalypse, and may they reign eternal over this Earth, the great old ones' darkest prize!
I cannot believe my eyes, i've been listening since MTSK-37 and now I've got faces to voices. Glad to see a video of the apocalypse players after all this time!
Looking at the comments and i cant believe there are so many other people out there who listen to this weird little podcast that was made specifically for me. Who'd have thunk it
The most entertaining TTRPG actual play I've ever seen, and I've tried a lot of them. I think it has to be something about Dom's sheer magnificence... not to say the others aren't good too!
Literally just got into the podcast a couple days ago on Spotify and now I see this on RUclips, I am truly blessed by The Old Ones! Honestly thought you guys would stay faceless (not including Dom obviously) can't wait to catch up! see you in a few months lol
This scenario is so good! It was the second one I ran because it was so easy to imagine the scenes. Beautifully written and endlessly eerie. Mary Laker is my absolute favourite NPC. So glad our Apocalypse Players are giving it their treatment!
Well done gentlemen! I think you picked the perfect scenario for your video debut. Deadlight is a great little scenario. Keep doing this and I fully see your video channel getting just as popular if not more than your audio podcasts. Either way, I believe this was an excellent decision. I truly look forward to the next episode. As always, thanks for the great show!
What a start! Its so fun seeing your faces and emotions there! A note about the layout, I had some difficulties reading the characters names cause they were very close together. But otherwise it looks very good.
Ignatius "Iggy" Sugar "Hey! The Merrimac gas sentimental value!" [Voices trail off as the car heads off down the dark road in the rain. Camera rises to distant view, diner lights in the distance.] I'd pay good money to see an animated or live action film of this. (I drew the maps for this scenario)
Having been making my way through the apocalypse players back catalouge I only knew what Dom looked like now I can get some forbidden insight into the rest of the cast! also shout out to "Fall of the house of usher and other stories and poems" in the introduction (I have that copy as well!)
love this! perfect for spooky season :) Dom is a gateway drug into Cthulu and table top gaming. I just have never gotten into the standard D&D stuff, but the CoC stories are right up my alley!
Ive never actually played but seen soooo many CoC playthroughs and imo its the best RPG out there ( I think in the main it handles probabilities intuitively though can be clunky in places) but its not for everyone...people requiring more physical action and combat will probably be disappointed
What a lovely surprise this was in my feed! I hope you get the latency issues figured out. Looking forward to more Edit: Also it feels good to finally put faces to your voices
They have tons of hours of actual play on their podcast (under the same name wherever you get your audio content)- if you’re referring to video specifically, I assume the next few episodes will be dropping weekly
Glad to hear it! If you're not familiar with the podcast already, there's a tonne of audio-only content previously published, so please do check it out!
@apocplayers I was not familiar with the podcast I am here from watching Dom on Chaotic Neutral but I'm glad I found it Just started Message of Art last night
I choose to believe that none of them have dressed up for the occasion.
They dressed down.
Can confirm, Dan’s shirts are a lot more fancy :D
Started with mystery quest, found chaotic neutral, found dom, and now this! It’s like the gift that keeps on giving, another huge Cthulhu back catalogue for me to enjoy and I know already these guys will do it right
I did the same! So glad Tom was on Chaotic Neutral so my mind was opened to the channel, and NRB and Apocalypse Players!
Same journey here. The world of Cthulu has been opened to me!
oxventure to nrb for me
It's the tom to dom pipeline
Are we all being manipulated? If so, I'm in
omg!? In the flesh?? The elder ones have granted our dark desires this autumn!
CAN IT BE?! THE APOCALYPSE PLAYERS IN THE FLESH?!?! ON TECHNICOLOR FILM!?!?!?!
LET'S GOOO!!! LET'S FREAKING GOOO!!! THIS IS WHAT THE CULT OF THE APOCALYPSE HAS BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
The piglets are going to have a field day with this one.
Oink oink!
"Charlie! Don't freeze up on us!"
*Charlie buffering in the corner*
Many congratulations to whoever sat up all night editing this. Setting some pretty high standards for the future of TTRPG Actual Play content.

same
Definitely.
As was foretold and long waited for, now we both hear and see. Truly blessed are we this Apoctoberfest!
A video! What a treat! Thank you very much, I can only imagine how much more effort does it take to make a video versus an audio...
Hell yeah another Cthulhu series with Dom in it
My god, they are actually real !!, I just thought they were disembodied voices from my shattered mind.
I wish I could have said that as well as you.

@@khimbar123 Dom is also in a lot of TTRPG videos on the channel Chaotic Neutral, and general board game stuff on No Rolls Barred!!
@@apocplayers Have you made the sausage out of the piglets?
@@therojowo thank you for that. Have subbed to that one too.
Well once again Doms opening to a game just makes me swoon 😅
Though I know my sanity can’t take it, I must gaze upon these mighty beings in their true state. No longer bound to audio alone, they are truly beyond comprehension!
This is the first comment I’ve ever made on RUclips, I’m thirty, and I’m glad I waited for something special. This is fantastic ❤️
I’m actually crying watching you! You’ve been my commute companions for so long, I can’t believe I get to see you perform on my screen now ❤ please please please keep making both!
Great to see everyone on camera at last!
The combination of the aggressively American accents and the utterly British pronunciation of “Packard” is gold
Spectacular first video outing, thanks: absolutely putting your own stamp on a relatively often-produced scenario. Looking forward to the rest!
0.1 sec
The time between seeing Dom and subscribing.
It’s about damned time you guys made the leap to video! lol. Hallelujah!!!! Instantly liked, and subscribed! 👍😎
Oh yes. Praise the Great Old Ones.

The Apocaplayers...in the flesh. The stars are finally right!
My favourite people in a video format, I might just cry 🥹✋🏻
We have entered the televisual age!
I’m for it
Considering its Cthulhu and the silent movie era it would be funny to see this done in grainy sepia black and white with subtitles like a silent movie. That would be a hell a lot of work to do though

So far the scariest thing here is a trio of old men with no concept of personal space.
Genuinely unsure whether you’re referring to the characters or the players.
@apocplayers 100% characters. Sorry for the confusion.
😂 Only one of them is ‘old’. Arguably two of us are 🤣
Oh my gosh, to finally see all your faces! Your podcast is one of my favorites. SO glad you guys decided to do this!
More videos please
'Saw you guys in Bristol last Friday! You were brilliant!
Good lord! They’re real!! It wasn’t all just a horrible dream, they’re real!

Thank you Dan for giving in and going visual
1/3 correct for guessing which voices matched which faces for Joseph, Danann and Dan
Oh my gods, I know! I've tried to match the faces to the voices before, and I always mix them up.
I would have sworn Dan was Joseph and vice versa
A perfect ending to Apoktoberfest
Looking at the comments and i cant believe there are so many other people out there who listen to this weird little podcast that was made specifically for me. Who'd have thunk it
Iggy is so damn good. That accent is spot on. Think I've heard someone talk like that in every Scorsese picture.
I feel ashamed that my reaction to this was immediately, "oh my god, they're adorable in person!"
The voices in my head have grown bodies 😮
The most entertaining TTRPG actual play I've ever seen, and I've tried a lot of them.
I think it has to be something about Dom's sheer magnificence... not to say the others aren't good too!
Ohh! You guys are all so handsome! Nice to finally see your faces. I love that you decided to put out a video! Also, Dom, you are a legend
I've said this before and I'll say it again. I'm not into guys, but for Dom I'd think twice.
26:38 you can just see the evil glister in Dom's eyes when someone evokes the word 'push'
