@@yomogami4561 If you haven't, check out The Glass Cannon Podcast's Time For Chaos. They're playing Masks of Nyarlathotep. Last year they did Peru and New York. Season two starts next week.
They've also done a one-shot (in five parts) with Becca playing.
I just love that twinkle that Becca gets in her eyes when someone fails a sanity roll. 😈 She's definitely one of the most creative Keepers of Arcane Lore that I've seen in watching these live plays.

@@switters8679 ...kyrgios isn't a majors winner like the others? Not sure how it relates to OP, since everyone on that list is top tier (though it could be argued I focused predominantly on dnd Storytellers, over other systems)

This scenario is so good for beginners. I ran it so many times since the 90's.
Had my first call of cthulhu game on Saturday and this is the one my keeper ran - was so good! Really enjoy this style of play.
Becca, you're a terrific Keeper, on par with the best ones. And that 1920s hairdo is divine.
OMFG yes another in-person Cthulhu campaign! Becca, your video of The Auction that I watched early this year was what got me into Call of Cthulhu (and the entire Mythos by H.P. Lovecraft). I'm glad you're doing another one of these!

Really liked this, especially thought Persephone and Trisha put a lot into this adventure. I've found when running Call of Cthulhu that it doesn't always appeal to everyone but those two really got into character. Thumbs up.
Just to add that the Auction had me in stitches and it was so well played by the people taking part... bravo...

Ran it last night. It's a great starter adventure, however I did add an extra challenge. Instead of Merriweather having the sarcophagus and book with him in the hospital (which I found a bit odd), the investigators got a small box with a very big strange key. They were told it was the key to his safe in his office in his home. Now the investigators had to charm/persuade/fast talk/intimidate the widow and son to get their way into the house, and search for the safe.
It did add about 1h5 extra play time, but the challenge gave the players time to get to know their characters a lot better, and give the players who didn't know each other more bonding time before the main event.
I've never seen Trish actually play before. I'm used to seeing her interview TDR cast. She's so good! Pleasant surprise. This turned out to be a really fun watch

So thrilled for this! The first episode inspired my group to give CoC a try for the first time and it was a blast!
So cool! I was thinking of starting a call of cthulhu campaign/game sessions before, but the auction video was what really made me say let's do it. The calyx sessions from then on were very helpful for me as a new keeper.

I feel like knowing the word linoleum is one of the hallmarks of a great call of cthulu gm, it's so evocative of such a specific visual, and it's just a type of floor tiling material
The other Dark Brotherhood with the assassins and the mummies would make a good CoC story too.
I ran this adventure 15-20 years ago! Amazing its still relevant. My group of investigators killed the hobo (Red Jake) who then came back as a zombie during the ceremoy. It was a very intense adventure; players screaming and freaking out - good times :-D
This was a very nice playthrough, great job by Becca!
I have been looking for an actual play to ease me into CoC and this was awesome! Fun and engaging, not too silly. I'm a fan!

@@Bovrillor Edge of Darkness is included in Chaosium's CoC 7th ed. starter set. Also the quickstart rules, two other adventures, a solo (no keeper required) adventure, and some dice. Pretty good deal.
A cool detail about the PC François (as pronounced "Franswa") is she has a specifically male-gendered name (the last syllable specifies gender). If François is her birth firstname, she was assigned a man's name at birth. (The female-gendered name Françoise would have otherwise been pronounced "Franswaz" because of the last syllable specifying gender.)
It's Persephone so this is likely on purpose! And a cool tidbit I didn't known about french

I just finished playing this one shot last night. Had a lot of fun. It was my first Call of Cthulhu game. Definitely a different theme from DnD.

This is such a great scenario. Nice job Becca on great narration and pacing. One suggestion - prep a backup character or two & don't be afraid to kill PCs. The fear of death really ads to the tension & it makes the story even more interesting.

Becca is trying to be more murderous but it's hard when players are friends. She seems quite happy to destroy Jake week after week in board games though.. Hmm.
