For me, this job means that Steve gave the client back his memories, his best moments, his best feelings, his passion ... everything he needs or wants to live a happier life. Surely the client will take firmer steps with those boots. I think that is priceless. Great job Steve! 👍
You Steve actually have one of the BEST jobs on earth. To be able to keep someone's belongings in use so that memories are close is priceless, but $900 to repair some boots is also fantastic. Awesome work! Keep it up. You are an inspiration!! Thank you
I completely understand where this guy is coming from. It's not the $$$. I go around trying to find things I loved as a child, lost or broken, it's fun when I finally find the item. I know weird!! I enjoy watching these shoe repairs, people don't drop their shoes off to the shoe makers anymore, SAD. Takes a lot of talent. Beautiful work!! TY.
A great job as usual Steve. As long as you have the money I see no problem in spending $900 restoring a favourite pair of boots. We are always being told to restore, reuse and recycle. You are saving the planet one pair of shoes/boots/bag at a time. Keep up the good work. Regards Rowena from the UK🇬🇧
Made In The USA. Imagine that. As a tradesman myself, I love to see the older trades still being practiced. And with a new found appreciation for them. Beautiful restoration by the way. The good side of the internet.
I love your channel because of how much pride and care you take in your work. A true American craftsman. Makes me want to enter this profession just watching you do your thing.
I can relate 100% to loving those boots because of the teeth marks. I had a car that my sister's gorgeous black lab loved riding in. It had puppy nose prints all over the quarter glass windows. I could never bring myself to wash those 2 windows after he crossed the rainbow bridge. I cried a bunch when I finally sold the car. Steve, your work is impeccable and I love every video you post.
That brought tears to my eyes. When I re-read it, I saw that the dog was a black Lab. That brought MORE tears because my super sweet black Lab also passed away.
Love how relaxing your channel is after a long day watching your videos is so very peaceful, watching a true craftsman ply his trade is fascinating. And the skill of your hands is amazing. I see a old pair of boots that look ready for the garbage, and you doing them back to life it’s so cool.
It always amazes me that you know where to start just looking at the item.......and the freehand work with the trusty knife and other tools...a true artisan and delight to watch. A white horse trots into a bar and the bartender says "did you know we have a drink named after you" the horse looks at the bartender and says... "What? Eric". For you my friend.
I dunno man, I just think its brilliant that you can be artistic, productive, make people happy and bring back memories, work with your hands.... I hope the trade (and others like it) never go away. Nothing beats handmade or hand restored. Thanks for sharing!
What makes us human is our capacity to feel and attach value to our emotions. These shape our souls and make us who we are as people. You are great at cobbling but a true master at helping people keep their memories alive and their souls warm and fuzzy and tender. As ever wonderful video. Thanks Steve.
Maybe I should have preserved the teeth marks my dog inflicted on one of my favorite purses. Instead I took it to the friendly neighborhood cobbler, who did a less than impressive job fixing it. That was before I found out about Steve.
My cat turned a pair of my boots into a scratching post a year or two back. She, unfortunately, passed away at the start of the year and that pair of boots is one of the most sentimental items that I own now. I totally get the owner wanting to keep those teeth marks.
