    Great review. As a mulholland owner, I can get 90 miles on a single charge riding in the city. My daily commute is a 25 miles round trip mostly highway. It is well worth the price not having to deal with a clutch, gears, shifting, oil changes etc. I have a level 2 charger at home so it is always at 100% before I go to work. It’s a lot of fun riding. It’s dead silent. Fits my needs. I love this bike ❤

  • @ChitFromChinola
    @ChitFromChinola 2 месяца назад +12

    You don’t need to find a charger, you can just plug it into a 110 volt outlet in your garage. That way, it only takes 5 seconds to charge - you plug it in and walk in the house.
    I use my LiveWire Del Mar as a commuter bike for my 24 mile round-trip. It makes the daily drive a blast, and I’ve still got plenty of range to take the long way home. This review missed the build quality, which is superb, and the design, which is badass. Dig it.

      For the purpose of riding around town, it might be fun, but for the long drives, I would always be worried about finding a charging station before the bike would die. That anxiety alone, would be enough for me to never want to invest in one. IMO, a waste of time and money.

      Right, and you can spend your money however you want.
      I would never take this bike or any motorcycle on a long trip. I’ve never taken motorcycles on long trips because bikes are so uncomfortable and limiting. I don’t enjoy riding in straight lines at 70 mph on boring freeways with SUVs and Super Duty trucks and semis buffeting me all over, but to each their own. I also don’t bog down my bikes with fairings and windshields and saddle bags and other gear, but to each their own. For me, I want a naked bike that is quick and nimble to rip around country roads on fun little trips, and here fits the Del Mar. I’m all done with gas engines, anyway, so I just watch for new electric-powered machines that suit what I want to do, and the Del Mar is a perfect fit for me. I’ve had a blast riding it this summer and it makes me smile every time I twist the right grip, so it’s been a terrific use of my time and money.

    I have a LiveWire One. The Motor Company under promised and over delivered on performance, range and charging. Level 2 charging at home is game changer for EV owners of any brand and model. I have DC fast charging available to me, but I rarely use it. That's what most of you will find out with a S2 LiveWire in your garage. Ride Free

    I’ve owned my S2 Mulholland for 3 months and ridden 5K on the odometer. Several trips to the LW dealer for the 1k and 5K service with important software updates, suspension and belt tweaks in between the bike is way different now. All the reviews are based on demo’s and not long term rides. The software and firmware updates gave me more mileage in between charges, and regen seems to capture more of the kinetic energy. Still waiting on the widget to display regen/power usage… for carrying I use a klim technical riding gear pack with enough room for gear and a second pouch for the quick grocery stops for those few items I need on the way home. My next purchase is an adapter plate that allows for cargo box for those larger items that won’t fit in the pack. I leave it in eco mode all the time. As for point to point charges some are free but of those some are for clients only and will be patrolled by the Paul blarts others will be blocked by ice vehicles or EV’s not plugged in so it’s nice to squeeze in between and charge whenever possible while other charging stations are vandalized so it’s wise to do some recon from time to time as vandalized units or units not activated yet are not likely to be fixed anytime soon (from my experience), the point to point charging however is perfect for the stops in between a few minutes here a few minutes there will net more percentage points then when you arrived. And if charging after hours where seating is unavailable the collapsing capsule seat is perfect!! Fits right in the pack! This bike wasn’t made for long distances it was made for urban navigating the concrete jungles. I have tested long term travel and yes it’s beneficial to draft behind some vehicles to take away some of the high wind impact. LW recommends only using level 1 charging but doesn’t discourage level 2 so if all your riding is through town to work and home for the evening you’ll always have a full charge in the morning! Gas powered is definitely cheaper but those stop and go urban travels in hot summer days it’s nice not having a 200° engine between your legs! Awesome video btw!

    I own an electric motorcycle - a 2020 Zero FXS. Its perfect for what it is - a transportation and errand-running tool. It has a top speed of 85mph and 100 mile range around town and half that on the highway. It is not meant to be used for fun which typically includes longer rides. I use it to commute to work daily and rides around town. As a bonus, I get to charge at work all day for free. If I wanted something for fun, I would get a medium displacement gas bike - think Honda NC750x-dct. Bottom line, choose wisely based on the purpose for getting the ride.

    I would really like a HD EV, but the overall range and true fast charge is not there yet... For around town or short tours it really needs to be comfortable and have a minimum 200 miles highway range at hwy. speeds (imo)... If 300 mile hwy. range, I would really consider one as my 2nd motorcycle.

    • @jarosawskrzypek1373

      Exactly, it is nice, I tried it but with current state of tech it can be second bike or principal if you're living in the big city and use it for commute only as any longer trip outside of the city means all of that charging shenanigans. We need to wait for another leap in battery density increase and speed of charing. HD put only level 2 on this bike to cut cost, DC fast charging is a must if you want to have something more than just a city bike. And the price $ 15k, you can have many nice bikes for that. Not many people say about how bad the suspension is in this 15k bike... Cheers!

    Rules of EV buying...
    #1 The real world range is always a third of the manufacturer claimed range.
    #2 Do not use the EV for touring, even if the manufacturer says it so(I'm looking at you, Zero).
    #3 Make it a habit to charge it overnight.
    #4 Expensive EVs don't make sense to buy cause you're basically spending a poop-load for not a lot of range.
    #5 Any EV below a real world range of 200 miles with maximum payload is just a marketing exercise.

    • @ChitFromChinola
      @ChitFromChinola 2 месяца назад +3
