Hey David Thanks for stopping by.....Means a lot to me I have tried the ronin SC with my Nikon Z6 and Sony A7rIII and it seems to work fine with those cameras but I feel that DJI made this gimbal for smaller cameras because when I try to put a longer lens on my a7rIII or Z6 the eye cup hits the Gimbal motor so maybe I will do a review as you suggest thanks best regards, rick
Hey David thanks for your suggestion to try FF bodies With heavier lenses I just made a video about it. Go check it out when you have time ruclips.net/video/rAHF4JPHCTo/видео.html Best regards, Rick
Thank you for the recommendation! I am an amateur photographer and am starting to do some videography and editing for fun. I have a Sony Alpha 6400 and some additional lenses for photography fun and was on the search for a gimbal.
Im stoked!!! Just acquired the A6400, back up batteries and external charger, sigma lense wide angle 16mm - 1.4, small rig light, small rig hot shoe relocater with two spots, rode videomicro 2 mic, screen protector and the Ronin SC Gimbal on the way. I’m ready to stop spending all my money and start food walking vlogs 😅
which lens should i get for my a6400? I have the one that came with my camera but I need a wider shot for a small room. I do not want to spend thousands. Thank you!
I got the a6600 about 3 years ago when it came out. It has been my fave camera. I have done a lot of productions with it because of its special stuff. I do long videos some over an hour in 1 take. and having that unlimited record time really comes in handy. the Battery life is really good. I can get about 3 hours of record time. I like the screen I have shot in low and high lighting. I have a Lens with OSS and IBIS in the camera that helped me with handheld shooting without a gimble. ALSO, the a6600 has headphones and microphone jacks so I can monitor the audio and plug-in audio. But all the a6000 series of cameras are great.
Thanks for your presentation! I own the A 6400 with the 18-105 F4 and 16-50, (which is not my favorite). I have been yearning to get a gimbal and the ronin SC is my choice (I finally have the funds!) What I don't know is how to operate the camera itself while on the gimbal, i.e. focusing, adjusting exposure, etc. I do have the Bluetooth remote that will focus and zoom. Can you point me to where I can learn more?

Thanks for this! Iv'e really been stuck deciding between the a6400 and a6500 and this helped me decide on the a6400. The IBIS was really the only reason I would go for the other.
Awesome video. I just ordered my a6400 along with a few lenses. I think this may be my next purchase!! What do you recommend as far as rigs for the a6400?
Can you please help me to choose between Sigma 16mm and 30mm. I really dont know which one to buy for Travel and Cinematic videos. Can you please share your experience in detail !!
yes I would but there are a lot of light options out there especially with the new Phone cameras A phone gimbal with a rode "G" mike would be way lighter and longer to carry if just filming for youtube and social media
Hi Rick. You had me with RZR footage. I just bought the 6400 to get some better footage of our rides above the gopro cameras im using now. Question is, i got my sony with the 18-135 lens for better telephoto options to keep me a safe distance from the mud slinging. Will this be able to balance with the larger lens? Any other advise re atv/utv videoing is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for stopping by Dave If you haven't bought the DJI Ronin SP yet I would hold off if you can DJI is just about to release a new RONIN Not an SP (Smaller version) but a bit bigger one that will have all the latest bells and whistles and will support most heavy cameras and lenses combos I love my RONIN-SP but it is limited to a small setup That being said I can not confirm weather the 18-135 will work.............sorry If its the type of lens that extends externally then probably not I used the 24-105 and that worked but didn't extend to far and I do have to remove the eye cup You will also have to run a riser plate when using the a6400 and any larger lens Really in my opinion the a6400 works best using the sigma 16mm f1.4 on the Ronin SP You will find that you don't zoom in and out so much on a gimbal rather get closer or farther away from your subject using a wide angle lens Best regards, Rick
Did you see my other RZR video? ruclips.net/video/HxtClTMyaOw/видео.html a customer flew me out to the islands for some fun video shoots Funkymonkeytours on youtube
@@rickvestuto Thanks. I'm still trying to prioritize the accessories purchases on the new camera. Got extra batteries, external mic, a cage and top handle so far. Since you have a general idea of what i'm shooting, what would be your next purchases? BTW, still using gopros for in rzr footage. Planning to use the a6400 at gathering places where people do "hold my beer" things. Dont want to risk damaging the sony with dust or water. LOL.
Hey Rick how are you doing? Very good video on explaining which camera to get and why. Also nice to see how easy the ronin sc balances. I use the zhiyun crane 3 and it is also very quick and easy to balance. Great job buddy.
no it's the 16mm SIGMA f1.4 Best prime for the Sony a6000 line of cameras Im not sure if the 18-105 works but DJI has a list of lenses and cameras on their website in the support area that will work and fit
If you have to have IBIS go to the GH5 IMO.... I have the a6400 and a7iii with the ronin s and ronin sc... But if you're going to go for that I say gh5 all day imo. I just wanted better low light.
Have a look here: www.dji.com/support/compatibility?product=ronin-sc Im not sure about your setup but if the sigma 18-35 is light and small it would be fine Regards, Rick
Theres a few things to do #1 double check you calibrated correctly and then run the calibration #2 tread Lightly.....Walking technique is very important #2 turn off IBS -OR- turn IBS on.......Sometimes IBS affects the stabilization of the gimbal
Good video Rick. I just got the Sigma 16mm lens and was wondering how it would do on my A6400 mounted on my Ronin SC. Thanks to you, I can now go ahead and mount them together. Subscribed.
Thanks, Ian I sold my Moza Air2 because it didn't have detachable lower battery handle for traveling i might be getting the RONIN-S (Big brother) to handle bigger payloads best regards, rick
I bought the Pro version with focus wheel I tried it and didn't really feel the need for it If your running a newer sony body which has amazing autofocus then why bother (IMO) It's a cool feature but i don't use it

Simple answer it does, but doesn’t. A7 iii and 16-35 G are too long to balance without the view finder hitting the gimbal.
With your experience, you are never old. Loved your detailed comparisons, reasoning. Great going. Keep it up Rick
I just ordered my gimbal...I got my a6400 and Sigma 16mm already. Can't wait to do some automotive footage with this setup!
That's what I do how's it been going so far ?
Thanks Rick, you made my day with the info you gave. The a6400 works well with my Ronin SC….Thanks!

which lens should i get for my a6400? I have the one that came with my camera but I need a wider shot for a small room. I do not want to spend thousands. Thank you!

You won't be disappointed with the a6400
how long does the gimbal battery last? or how long does it last in one go non-stop? I have a wedding event that is going to last for 5 hours.

yes I would but there are a lot of light options out there

Have you try it with a Sony a6700?
Thanks for the tips bro! I'm definitely a Sony!
Great information thanks...Which camera and lens did you use making this video ?
a6400 and sigma 16mm f1.4

Seriously I've been geeking out on all the gear reviews too lol... i think this the perfect combo
Now is out the Weebill S, is Ronin SC still the right choice?

If its the type of lens that extends externally then probably not
I used the 24-105 and that worked but didn't extend to far and I do have to remove the eye cup
You will also have to run a riser plate when using the a6400 and any larger lens
Really in my opinion the a6400 works best using the sigma 16mm f1.4 on the Ronin SP

Getting a Ronin SC for my next vacation. Will be bringing an old Nex off the bench and putting it to use...Yep...I said Nex.
I used to love my NEX 5

Hey. Is this the Sony 18-105 lens on the a6400 u mounted on in the video, if not, does it work too? Best, Marco
no it's the 16mm SIGMA f1.4
Best prime for the Sony a6000 line of cameras
Im not sure if the 18-105 works but
DJI has a list of lenses and cameras on their website in the support area that will work and fit
thank you for your fast reply :)
Sorry if this was answered in the video, but how heavy is the entire setup?
under 7 lbs
@@rickvestuto Thanks
Nice job Just wish you talked more about the lense and I don't see your description... was looking for links
I know im a year late but how does the gimbal work with the screen flipped up? Is that dangerous?
Not at all it works great
You just cant go into low slung mode without flipping it down first
@@rickvestuto thanks for the fast reply! This gimbal recently dropped in price by 30%, so I cant wait to get one with my new a6400!!

Great video!
How to make the rec button work ? A6400 with ronin sc
Just plug it in Set your camera to "MASS" USB and should work fine

Can I use sigma 18-35 1.8 sony a 6000 with cam cage on ronin sc or is too heavy?

A6400 the way to go. Get a few extra batteries and a tripod, you will still save 600 bucks
Your 6500 stopped after 30 min? I thought there wasn’t a time limit since a6400.
That's correct
and that's because the a6500 is 2 years older than the a6400
It's confusing I know thanks to SONY
@@rickvestuto that’s super weird! Whew! I just bought the 6400 because of that! Great review btw!
Will this gimbal work with the Sony ZV-1

struggling between the standard version and pro version(with focus wheel),can you say something about it? many thanks.

This is the Ronin SC not the RONIN
It comes apart in 3 sections and is the 3rd smallest gimbal you can buy
