- The best absolute best lenses for your Sony A6400 don’t cost that much. Which is the best part! One of the complaints about Sony cameras is how darn expensive their lenses can be so when you can find some optically awesome ones without breaking the bank so much the better!

Thank you, I was literally going crazy on lens selection for the a6400. Appreciate it 🍻
That 16mm looks amazing... the others too, but I like the 16mm the most.
Thanks for this video.
Man findet Open mind wirklich überall 😂😁 auf der Suche nach einem neuen Objektiv?
@@dimitrimetzler6805 jo, habe mir jetzt die alpha 6400 mit Kit objektiv geholt 😊
You've become my #1 resource for content creation tech. Your advice has upped my quality and streamlined my workflow
There was a chipmunk up the hill about 10:15.😂
Oh, good stuff Tedd!
I use the a6400 basically as a high end webcam also as part of a drop kit for subjects during the lockdown. I use the Viltrox 23mm 1.4 on it 95% of the time. It’s a great focal length for shooting from above a computer desktop monitor, the autofocus is totally dependable and it lets in a lot of light for the price - $300. We’ll worth checking out.
you are the reason I was sold on the A6400 in the first place. Now I'm definitely song on the 16mm f/1.4 lens. thanks again. Now I am subbing for sure.
Sigma needs to make a 16-50 2.8
They won't, this might harm their primes getting sold.
Sony made it lol
with OSS
and it will blows the market 😍
@@모-o4l True that. Sony decided to stop allowing Sigma to eat its lunch.
Sigma does have 17-50mm f2.8
I have all three lenses for my a6400 including the kit lens 16-50 mm they are just great 👍🏻. Many thanks again for this tutorial always a pleasure to watch your videos thank you.
My budget lenses are :
Sigma 30mm 2.8
Sony 16-50 kit
Kamlan 28mm 1.4
At the start was dificult with the manual lens, but I've got used to it. Great video as always!
your b camera angle often looks better than the a 😂😂
love the content bro
I don’t have the a6400 but I do have the a6300 and I use it as my second shooter’s camera for weddings. My mine lens for that camera is the 18-105 f4. That lens LIVES on that body and it’s great for the flying on the ronin-s. Great video man!!
My top 3 favourite lens for Sony 6400 would be:
Sony 18-105 f4
Sigma 56 f1.4
Sigma 16 f1.4
nailed it :) and its actually not thats expensive for what you get... and only a real wideangle or far zoom is missing, which you dont need for "normal" photgraphy or filmmaking i guess
Поэтому я выбрал Sony а не Fujifilm.
Do we need an adapter for sigma lens
@@debershan no u don't need an adapter👍
30 mm not best sir
the Sigma 30mm is perfect! finally someone else that sees that! Im definetely getting the a6400 and the sigma 30mm. Now considering the Sony 16-50mm:)
I have 16mm right now also thinking abt 30mm did u knw there is a 3rd one as well? 50mm
@@Touseef I did not, thanks!
I have all 3 of the Sigma lenses and love them all. I also have that kit lens. That is almost all I need for my a6400 and a6500. That said I'm saving up for the Sony 200-600 for bird photos. Thanks for another great video
I have the camera and all 3 of these lenses. The 16-50 kit lens is awesome for video. Its not terrible for photos as well. As long as you are not a pixel peeper it's perfectly capable for stills.
The funniest reviewer for Sony a6400 camera and lenses! I love your videos 👍🏼
I have the 30mm and 16-50 - was very tempted by the sigma 16 1.4 but this kinda swayed me not to. I recently purchased the 18-105 and really loving that so happy for now. a 16-50 f2.8 with oss and fast focus would be amazing!
Sony has 16-55 2.8
I only have 3 lenses for my 6300. They are these three. I use the 30mm by far the most. Then the 16mm, and finally the zoom on my gimbal. I get great results with all.
i remember buying a 18-105 to upgrade from my kit lens. didn't think i would be that much better because it was a still just f4 but boy was i wrong, that thing is a work horse + sony has really good low light anyways...
I just bought an A6400 with those three lenses. I’m testing it out coming from a GH5 and a pile of Panasonic and Olympus lenses. I’ve been pretty impressed so far with the Sony especially the size and autofocus. Don’t think I’ll ditch Panasonic but I might unload some things that I’m not during at much. You made a really good point about video and photos - the needs are a bit different. Good video wish I would have seen it before now I guess it’s just confirmation bias!!! 👍🏻
Thank you, I bought the A6400 based on your review. Appreciate the quality of your content. Fan from India 🍻
This helped a lot shows me since I already have the kit lens no need to rush.
I just ordered the Sigma 16mm because I have to cover in indoor event in some tight space. I already have the Sigma 30mm, which is great and the kit lens which I don't Use that much but I plan to. great review.
Boom! 🤙🏽 Thanks, "ErryDay". Been digging, researching, and watching-looking for the right camera setup. Much respect, and thank you again, my friend.
When I had my A6300 my frav go to lens as the Sony 18-105 G lens. Well priced and great for Video. I would like to see Sony making some new APS-C lens though.
Excellent public service video 🙌🏼
The sigma blur is fantastic
Your dropping content like crazy. This is awesome!
I love your videos Man , keep up the good work
I like the 18-135 and the three Sigma llenses.
love all of your videos
i think jason vong and you really show how everything is with examples ..love your content..
Infinity Endgame? Lol infinity war... or Avengers: Endgame.
The 16 is a low light beast though!
I picked up the Sigma three lens f1.4 DC DN set from B&H when they were discounted recently. Really liking them.
*what ND filter are you using for your sigma 16mm?*
40.5 mm variable nd
67mm ND filter. I own the Sigma 16 and I use a 67mm Variable from K&F Concept
@@ExtremeCrashMan55 *just bought nd filter from breakthrough and im stoked with the result.*
@@YourTechGuide. I was too when I got mine!
I do mainly portraits and wildlife so i have a sigma line up of 16, 30, 56, 85, 105 1.4, and 70-200 2.8 with mc11 for my a6400 lol
Dreaming about a Sigma 24/ f1.4
This is the MUST HAVE lens for APSc camera... period !
Sony 20mm 2.8, sigma 30-2.8 and my alltime favorite, adapted MF Nikon 55mm 3.5 this lens is also a macro lens and an old film lens images and video sharp. As a tack. I’m just a sony fan boy.
It seems like the Sony’s face track really well with sunglasses. If i wear a hat and shades like this, my M50 doesn’t even pick up my face. Is there any way to fix that and is any one else having the same issue? My 80d didnt have this issue at all. It was flawless. I dont like tap to follow because if you try to hold something up to the lens, it takes 20 seconds to unlock and then you have to tap again.
Sony 50mm 1.8 Prime lens. It has autofocus, optical steady shot, and bookehlacious background blurring. But I have to stand about a mile away from the camera
Not as shallow and definitely not as sharp though
Love sigma lenses only issue is the stabilization! I use a Sony 6300 and Sony 6400 so image stabilization is imperative for me! Great video as always!
What lenses do you use?
@@naomiraquel1388 Sony 1.8 35 mm and a Sony 4.0 18-105 mm
I’m planning on getting the Sony A6400. I’m a mobile shooter right now and I just started buying 52mm filters for my iPhone. But now I’m thinking I need to get something higher to be able to use my filters for my iPhone and future Sony. What size filters do you think will fit most sonya6400 lenses? I’m thinking about getting the 67mm instead of the 52mm. What do you think? I don’t have money to spend another grand on lenses yet. So idk if that matters. But from most of the videos I’ve seen 67mm seems to be the highest size filter for most Sony a6400 lenses
My 3 lenses I use with Sony a6000:
Sony 18-105 f4 - mostly used during a day
Sigma 16 mm f1.4 - low light, evenings
Sony 35 mm f1.8 - less used but love the size and OSS
0:00 If this is the welcome sound... what's the throw up ?? 🤣🤣(love your vids tho)
16 to 50 I so love this lens Dad
Sony 18-105 f4 OSS, Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS, Sigma 16mm f1.4, 7artisans 50mm f1.8 (MF and no OSS, but it's dirt cheap), and maybe a Samyang 85mm f1.4 (or Sony 85mm f1.8 if you have the money).
These will cost you around 1500$ (around 1800 if you choose the Sony 85). But you'll have 2 video lens (18-105 and 35). You'll have a zoom lens. You'll have 2 lens for portraits (the 85mm and the 50mm...but you can also use the 35mm). And you'll have a wide lens for landscape/street/whatever. Apart from a crazy tele lens, you're set. And most importantly, only the zoom lens a bit slow, all the others are really fast and solid lenses.
Not that I have the money for all :D just watched a ton of reviews :D but hopefully I'll be able to collect these
Loved this review. Looking into buying Sony lenses pretty soon.
The Video I've been waiting for. Currently have the 16-50mm that came with the a6400. Was wanting to get the Sigma 16 1.4 but might just hold off for a little.
I'm with you with the 16-50 kit...not a big fan. Doesn't zoom far, not really a tele lens, and slow. I wanna go for the 18-105, seems like the best all around lens, but that is pretty slow too. Maybe I'll go for the Sony 35mm f1.8. It's a Sony lens, so AF is good. It has OSS. 35mm on an ASP-C is not wide, so it can be used for portrait too. But it is not a tele either, so it can be OK for street/landscape too. Because of the OSS, it's good for video also. And most importantly it's 1.8, so pretty solid aperture
Awesome video. Already own the 16 and 30mm sigmas lenses for the 6400. Definitely want that 16-55 g but it’s too expensive for just a hobby ...
Great video! I only have 50mm 1.8 OSS Sony and all my videos are very zoomed in! I don't do Vlogging rather make educational videos. Would you recommend 16mm or 30mm for me?
I love your videos...you're a pro
Well thanks so much! 😁
I JUST got an a6400 but not gonna use it until I break 1k subs. I’m gonna look into these lenses!
Great video and love the Sigma lenses, I have used the 16mm on a G80 and it is a superb lense.
Thanks for the review! I've been looking for a lens for my a6400. Thinking the Sony 16-50 OSS would works best for us for vlogging on our channel.
This video said budget lens. As a beginner in this industry I am looking to get this one but damn
My recommendation would be to get a Canon camera. They have some really good mirrorless nowadays for not that much money, or even an older DSLR is fine. I started a few years ago with a $150 t1i/500D. Canon has cheaper lenses that are still really good. You can get the 24mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8, and 70-300mm for the same price as one of these sony lenses.
@@johnz5359 I prefer the looks and colours of the Sony. For autofocus and what I wanna do Sony is a better all rounder for me
How did I miss this video!!!!!
A7III: (1) Tamron 28-75/2.8 (2) Sony 24/2.0 (3) Sony 50/1.8. A6400: (1) Sigma 16/1.4 (2) Sony 35/1.8 (3) Sony Kit 18-135/3.5-5.6
My 18-135mm is on my a6000 90% of the time. Amazing lens. The 50mm 1.8 is great for stills, but almost always too zoomed in for video. The kit lens is great for video, but frankly, the corners are hideous for wide angle stills.
18-135mm looks like a good base zoom, is it sharp enough when wide open?
For aps-c, the first lens I'd recommend is the 18-135. Great travel lens. No need to keep swapping out lenses. The second lens I'd recommend is the Sony 35mm f1.8. It's the perfect focal length and unlike the Sigma 30, the Sony has stabilization. For wide angle, the Sigma 16mm f1.4. For portraits, the Sony 50 f1.8 or Sigma 56 f1.4. I have the Sony and it is great and has stabilization. I have not tried the Sigma, but the Sony is so good, I don't see the reason to switch.
Just bought mine a6400, I have 16-50mm kit lense, 35mm f1.8 sony oss, and 55-210mm kit lense for time being, I am looking also for a safe lense to cover all my kit lense, to sell them and have one lense all together, maybe 18-105mm f4 ... I am open to other suggestions too.
When I tested it on a Sony a6400 body with a Sony NEX-7's 18-55mm kit lens, the focal length I wanted was 30mm. The distance between the subject and the camera is 2m. In this case, with a sigma 30mm f1.4 lens or sony 35mm f1.8 lens, the crop body is about 50mm, so if I want to get the 30mm I want, should I look for a 20-24mm lens? Is there a lens you would like to recommend?
cute adorable ND filter
Hey Gary...need some advice...I’m going to be doing videos that will require video from different angles to make better, and more interesting, videos. I purchased the a6400 about a week ago. I can change the location of one camera for multiple angles, but that would be a lot of work. But it obviously can be done. I have the 16-50 kit lens, but that’s it. So here’s the dilemma - do I purchase another lens (thinking Sigma 16) or do I stick with the kit 16-50 and get say a Canon M50 as the second camera? I mention the M50 because it’s about where my budget is if I were to get a new lens or another camera. Hope you can help me out. Thanks.
I'm kind of on the same page
good video man.
I have a question: since the a6400 doesn't have IBIS, but relies on using lenses that have OSS stabilization, I'm wondering how sharp photos will turn out if I use lenses that don't have OSS? will the photos still be of good quality? is it good to use lenses without OSS on a6400?
I wonder that because lenses with OSS are much more expensive. I hope for an answer.
love my 16-50.
Great video everyday dad, how do you get those colors are you using a lut? I need to figure that out Keep the good work!
photon I think he uses Picture Profile 2
Actually he uses Picture Profile 1
I got the 16mm 1.4, I need something that can at least zoom in 20-30 feet with no problems
Hey ED, love your videos always, just got myself the Sony A6400 and Sigma trifecta and 18-105 F4, could you please help out on Sony color science, the PP and how to color grade them to look cinematic....I am a hobbiest photographer, need to explore video making, love from India
You made a mistake unfortunately. You said 2:17 "it's a 24mm equiv. F1.4".
It's actually f2.1. Because the F number needs to be multiplied by the crop factor too.
That's why you can see f1.4 lenses that are tiny for apsc compared to huge f1.4 for FF. There's no magic physics trick here, just some marketing to make people think they're getting f1.4 when in reality it's f2.1.
You are wrong. F number needs to be multiplied only if we talk about shallow of field, but not for light amount.
I own the Sony Sel 35mm. How does this one compare to the Sigma 30mm? The tests look great on a tripod, but what about when recording video when in motion? Would the OSS come handy in this case?
i do have kitlens of 16-50mm, but instead of asking me, i want to ask you, what would you suggest my 2nd lens between 30mm or 16mm??
What exactly is an ND filter? And which one should I buy? Thanks
Amazing video
Great video! I have the Sony 16-50, but do you have a recommendation specifically for portraits?
Sony 50mm 1.8
Whats the best fisheye lens for this camera?? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
How's your flip-up screen on your A6400?
I think I might get this camera, but I'm not sure if the A6400's flip-up screen is "strong." I feel like it'll become loose and/or break in the future. What do you think?
It's solid, I have one and I was thinking the same thing but so far it's holding up well. Either way, you have screws so if they are loose you can easily tighten them.
@@Hell2Night For sure! Thank you for the response!!
If I choose one lens that is sigma 30mm !
You are hilarious...”adorable” ND filter? I guess I’ll have to get one too.
Infinity endgame niccceeee 😂👏
I liked the video when I saw the first second
You forgot the Sony 18-105 f4!
What ND filter would you recommend for the 30mm and should you get a variable one
Variable ND filters are more practical but you can get better quality normal ND's for the same price. After all, it's another layer of glass
Was this being used on a 6400 in the video??
Why would you want both the 16mm f1.4 & the 30mm f1.4?? If you don't take photos what's your reasoning for wanting both? Why not just the 16mm and get closer to your subject?
very useful video.
Sir, i have sony a6400 camera with two lenses, both sony,16-50 and 55-210 but i'm not getting very sharp pictures, the clicked images soften up on zooming.
can you please suggest an affordable more sharp sony lens for birding and functions or even in sigma or tamron lens range. thanks.
Sony 50mm 1.8
Excuse me, which lense is in 9:00?
I'm looking for wide view video that I take from the car with stabilization
Thanks for the answer
Do you have a Sigma 56 lense review?
You should look into the Sony 10-18mm f/4 for video. I love it for stills.
What microphones are you using outside and inside?
Hey brah...im looking for an inexpensive sports action camera with mic input or a small camera with a mic input....you have any suggestions?
Or do those usb to 3.5mm jack dongles worth a Damn?
I already have a sj4000 el cheapo cam, but the audio blows and cant really hear crap with 15mph winds and the waves crashing when I'm tring to use it without the waterproof case.
Thanks for the time you put into your channel.
Love your content. What ND filter are you using on the kit lens? About to purchase the a6400 with kit lens. Thanks in advance
how well does the Sigma 16mm 1.4 work with no stabalization,
does the lack of oss for a6400 makes it a big issue? am considering the 35mm oss instead
That's why I got instead of the sigma 30mm
So you have a 50/50 commmunity on whether the 16-50mm kit lens is just plain awful or really amazing
So these are made for full sensor and can be used on full sensor if need be?
Sorry to break it to you Everyday Dad, but in "pro" cinema, they don't go under f 2.8, even less in "T" stops.
Well whatever they did in end game it was so shallow it was distracting 🤷♂️
Well, 90% of the sets were green screen, maybe it was a decision due to time constraints.
This video has been made 4 me
Nice! I’m glad it could be useful 😁👍
i'm using the 16-50mm kit lens on my A6400 , planning to get a prime less , but i'm still wondering which to get , Sigma 16mm f1.4 or Sigma 30mm f1.4
Get the Sigma 16mm. I had the 30mm for a year, and never stopped thinking about the 16mm.
@@3syllables hey bro, thanks for the advice 🙏
You need to learn what "budget" means, coz Sigma Trio are definitely not budget lenses especially for primes.
