I assume the way she films is fine. We never really see anyone else, mainly empty rooms, machine operating using the whole frame and gotta love the walking footage haha

They often have a locker room with beds where they can nap if nothing is going on and they just make sure they have their pager

Very interesting video. I’m just curious as to how this doesn’t violate HIPAA (or whatever the equivalent that they have in Canada) or hospital policies? In nursing school we are taught to not even take pictures of ourselves while at the hospital on a shift because we could potentially accidentally violate HIPAA. I know no patient names are said, but someone could easily find out what hospital you work at and when you talk about the patient cases, genders, and ages, those are patient identifiers, are they not? Especially when you comment that they were admitted on a weekend? I’m not saying it is HIPAA violations, but I’d be nervous doing that. Just be careful.

Try being a medical scribe. You follow the doctors into the patient room and chart in the electronic record (which they teach you how to do) while they're saying things out loud. You learn a lot of medical terminology and get experience charting which is like half of the doctor's day lol

Becoming a CNA could get you experience in the hospital! Classes are usually only a month long.

shelby sloan i mean, not slave work. though considering her education and work description i guess it is pretty low
Residents are paid per year on salary, not per hour; most residents work 80-100hrs or more per week. At a salary of 50k-70k, on average that's $12.82/hr. Not a glamorous salary, especially when you have 200-300k in debt from school (accruing interest at 3-6% per year), and 3-5+ years of residency plus 2+yrs fellowship. Doctors don't usually make insane money until they are late late late into their career and have paid off everything. By that point, it's about equal if you make 100k/yr during all of their training years instead. Do what you love, not for the $$.

The human body isn't built to withstand such gruelling hours. It's 1 thing spending 26hours behind a desk doing a mundane job. It's another on your feet constantly making life or death decisions. They really need to re-evaluate how medics work.
