@@Ashley-pv3su In medical school, students are bombarded with a fire hose of information. Their days are fairly long between attending classes and studying. Working a long shift in a hospital probably feels mentally relaxing in comparison. One of the most fatiguing activities one can do is simply sit or stand perfectly still. It doesn't take very long to feel exhausted. Being very busy usually produces no fatigue and the time seems to fly by very fast. Most likely the doctors are mentally fine if the long shift is busy but feel mental fatigue if its slow. In the latter case, it's better to sleep or do something to break up the boredom.

Thank you for giving us a view of a hospital-staff life. For people who are very new to working in medicine, the hospital setting can be quite complicated. Your videos help give us a glimpse and make it feel more familiar when we are getting our feet in. The more that feels familiar, the easier it is to adapt to all the newness. Thank you so much!
Just a question, does ur hospital not supply N-95 makes for their residents? I also work at a hospital but usually everyone who works on Covid-19 floors wear N-95s. Just curious to see how the pandemic is handled in other places. btw I love your videos!
It seems us Ontarians are short of proper PPE’s. I’m so disappointed in this. Also, I saw when she was standing outside a Covid room donning her gown and what looked like a very cheap face shield that the basket to throw out worn contaminated gowns had a gown sticking out of it and the basket is in the hallway. VERY VERY improper sanitary protocols for Covid. 🤦♀️ And it doesn’t look like a negative pressure Covid ward either. I just don’t understand Toronto Hospitals and how they’re set up for treating Covid. It’s shoddy, really shoddy.
I was at her hospital in early april - and the hospital that she’s in in the episode is one of my local hospitals - Were I transferred from to her hospital (we have two in my city idk why we’re pretty small) Both of the hospitals asked me that if I wasn’t showing symptoms then not to wear a mask to make the doctors feel safer around me - I was also not there for covid, but i gave birth so that might have been the difference
FitChickGlows I work in Ottawa at the trauma centre and we have never been short on PPE, even at the beginning of the pandemic. Sometimes cheap surgical masks or face shields but no shortage of N95 but those are only for aerosol treatments/situations.
Man I would’ve loved to have you as a doctor when I was always in the hospital! Some of the on call doctors were absolutely awful and just had the worse bedside manner! Which makes being sick so much harder... thank you for being so caring! I promise your patients appreciate it 💜

Doctors: you should be getting lots of sleep. Also doctors: 24 hours shifts. Doctors: you should be eating healthy, it can really change everything. Also doctors: the locker full of snacks
That's why my teachers in med school says that " you will be studying for your whole life... But don't worry doctors tend to life shorter" ( probably there's some gramma mistakes but I'm too lazy to check)
I totally agree. And still people complain that they don't come often enough, they aren't long enough etc. We should all be just happy with her making the effort at all.
Siobhan, thank you! I used to watch all the videos and recently in the past few months kind of fell off the watching. I am about to go into nursing school and was in a shadowing program in high school that had to stop because of COVID-19. With everything going on what with graduation and Financial Aid and Scholarships and work I kind of fell into a fog but your video reminded me of just why I wanted to be a nurse. Getting to help and not only that just the excitement I feel being in a hospital and getting to learn about medical care. So thank you Siobhan for reminding me of why I’m doing this. Thank you.
Always look forward to watching your videos and vlogs, Siobhan! Thank you so much for all that you do, and stay safe!!! :) From an inspired nursing student

Violin MD Your videos always make my day when I watch them. You are so positive and I love that. Negativity drains you like nobody's business. Thank you for your great content.
I was curious about when you go to see a patient that could possibly have coronavirus, do you get more PPE or are just in scrubs and the surgical mask? Thank you so much for what you do and I really admire the fact that you bring us with you through the videos! It’s very informative and shows people how serious this pandemic truly is. Keep up the amazing work and sending healthy thoughts your way!
The standard hospital protocol is to isolate the patient until the test results come back either positive or negative. I am not sure how they do it on admission but once they are in their own room there are signs outside of the door that tell you what kind of PPE you MUST wear prior to entering. For those who are suspected of having corona virus you would have to wear the same PPE that you would wear if the patient was positive for corona virus until the test result comes in to confirm the patient has it or doesnt have it. Hope this answers your question!
Hi Siobhan! Just wanted to say thank you for your comments about treating immunocompromised patients in this pandemic. I can’t imagine being surrounded by such sad circumstances, and your acknowledgement of and honest reflection on the situation is a reminder that we all should strive to be more compassionate. 2:59 Oh my god that is the coolest ultrasound computer I’ve ever seen 😂 crazy how far technology has come recently.
I love radiology it is my favorite department in a hospital
You are a caring doctor with a beautiful smile.
Your patients are blessed to have you as their doctor.
Stay safe and well and I am saying a prayer for your safety too.
Next year , " Hi , I'm Siobhan , a first year rheumatology fellow".
I love how she does the empty rooms while talking about the patient. Thank you for the great content!!
i know a lot of doctors have tested positive for covid but i was just wondering if you have to! idk if you said you did or didn’t in another video lol
Hi Julia - I have been tested and fortunately was negative. We have been working very hard to stay safe in the hospital!
Violin MD How do you gear up when treating someone with Coronavirus?
@@ViolinMD Im glad that you are safe and well, you are an inspiration to others and helped me to pass my exams to get into the Ambulance service, if younger I would pursue becoming a Paramedic, but even at my level the job is so rewarding and interesting, God Bless, keep smiling its infectious.
I'm sure hundreds of people are saying this but I really appreciate what you guys do :)
Whoever stocked that locker needs a crown!
I wish I was there friend
N95 used when its wet work. Surgical masks used the rest of the time. Nyc had it bad but that was their standard for medical personnel
I was at her hospital in early april - and the hospital that she’s in in the episode is one of my local hospitals - Were I transferred from to her hospital (we have two in my city idk why we’re pretty small)
Both of the hospitals asked me that if I wasn’t showing symptoms then not to wear a mask to make the doctors feel safer around me - I was also not there for covid, but i gave birth so that might have been the difference
She is bin paid by big pharma so people can fail for it and get scammed
FitChickGlows I work in Ottawa at the trauma centre and we have never been short on PPE, even at the beginning of the pandemic. Sometimes cheap surgical masks or face shields but no shortage of N95 but those are only for aerosol treatments/situations.
Thank you for serving our country in our time of need
Blessed my hospital has a 2 hour turnaround on COVID tests now. The 24 hour wait is still better than the 2 week wait originally!
Man I would’ve loved to have you as a doctor when I was always in the hospital! Some of the on call doctors were absolutely awful and just had the worse bedside manner! Which makes being sick so much harder... thank you for being so caring! I promise your patients appreciate it 💜
Thank you so much for working during this scary time! You are such a lovely compassionate doctor that Would make going to a hospital more enjoyable experience! ❤️
Thank you kindly for being an angel here on earth. I use to be a certified nurse assistant and I know how emotionally stressful it can be for you, Working long hours little breaks etc.. and now this pandemic on top of life being difficult in general before pandemic. What I'm trying to say is THANK YOU KINDLY to each nurse and doctor helping patients because you truly care. Know your all in my prayers every day n night May God bless protect you all in Jesus name, sending you a BIG hug please make time to eat I know how difficult it can be to take 5 mins to eat.
Best lunch break when there’s a vlog from you! What a fancy call room! Stay safe Siobhan!
You are so awesome! If you only more people had the same passion for helping others like you do! Thank you for sharing your life with us! 🙏🏼
I can’t honestly tell you how thankful I am for you! Thank you so much for helping us all through this pandemic! Btw you absolutely gorgeous!
In today’s age with social media and technology at hand, doctors vlogging has its pros and cons. The way she does her videos are the some of the best I’ve seen so far. Informational, no violation of patient privacy, and people are able to see how feasible becoming a doctor actually is for those with an interest in medicine.
Thank you for coming to our unit! It was awesome to meet you, the midnight snack you got us was such a sweet gesture. I hope you can come back again soon!! I felt so lucky you were on my unit and that I got to meet you. :)
I thought that you looked familiar and so did the hospital. Thank you for helping our community 🥰 Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed!
"Our heroes wear scrubs." Damn right.
how do you keep your calm? every video you exude calm no matter what you do. you’re an inspiration !!!
"What more can a resident ask for?" You forgot Wifi. lol
Hospitals generally have WiFi
Riley Brown true lol
Siobhan
Thank you for taking care of those who can't take care of themselves at this time
We love you
I'm having surgery on my arm tomorrow. Kind of worried because of the corona stuff. Wish me luck
WONDERFUL AND ALL THE LUCK!
How was it!? Hope you’re on the mend!
@@Hurts4MVP1 it was good. My arm is in pain because the rod they removed, it dug into my meat and skin and after they removed it, it was swollen and it's gonna take a while to heal. Thanks for asking though.
Hussein Alankouni I’ll keep you in prayers!
Hey, hope you have a speedy recovery!
So incredibly interesting. Thank you for sharing what it’s like. My niece is a child cancer survivor. She was diagnosed at 4 and she just had her 14th birthday. Everyone on the “4th” floor(that was the oncology department) was the absolute best.
Watching this 7/1/2020 can’t wait to come back when this is in the past!
Doctors: you should be getting lots of sleep. Also doctors: 24 hours shifts. Doctors: you should be eating healthy, it can really change everything. Also doctors: the locker full of snacks
That locker is the smartest move ever.
If we didn’t have doctors I would be dead by now... Bless doctors
That's why my teachers in med school says that " you will be studying for your whole life... But don't worry doctors tend to life shorter" ( probably there's some gramma mistakes but I'm too lazy to check)
@@SweetTikTokLife btw I wasn't tryna throw shade of doctors at all i just thought it was funny
i’ve had to go to that hospital many times for my own respiratory issues and they’re so amazing! definitely got lucky working there!!
the amount of effort you put into these videos are amazing!!
From an inspired nursing student
All NHS staff should be given a medal for being on the front line of this terrible virus it would be a fitting way of saying thank you for risking there lives
This is the earliest I have been for this Chanel for sure. I’m the 126th like 😂 woop woop
woohooo!
Violin MD Your videos always make my day when I watch them. You are so positive and I love that. Negativity drains you like nobody's business. Thank you for your great content.
If I could give you a standing ovation I WOULD!! Thank you for your service, talent, and beautiful heart. We appreciate you ❤️❤️❤️
I was curious about when you go to see a patient that could possibly have coronavirus, do you get more PPE or are just in scrubs and the surgical mask?
Please know that you and all the healthcare workers are appreciated!
I remember when I was on the covid floor at the hospital near me.
I rarely meet with the doctors, it was video chat from my room. No visitors of course and the nurses where decked up for war. It was scary.
Siobhan!! You inspire me so much. You remind me of my biology teacher I had last year. She has such a kind heart and an incredible passion for science. Thank you dedicating your life to saving lives. I hope I change people’s lives the way you do. 💓
