Just back from a 10 day tour in Spain on my 2022 GS, a riding buddy on the same model had already switched to Weiser indicators front and rear and I can confirm, they are superb, very bright, clear and safe. I need to do the same but I resent the need to spend good additional money correcting an issue BMW created by placing “form over function”, I’m very loyal to BMW over many years, but in this instance they have got it badly wrong!
Hi Mark and Toby, great video explaining the problem. The improvement to safety and visibility while using the Weiser-Technik lights is huge, and anyone that has followed a 2021 onwards GS knows this. Its great to see other channels picking up on this problem. You both did a good job!! I have heard that the new 2024 GS/A 1300/1400 will not have a tail light unit anymore !!! I really hope this is wrong because if they remove it completely a lot of owners are going to be unhappy and unwilling to upgrade to the new GS/A in 2024, and may turn their attention towards Ducati, KTM, Triumph and Suzuki all of which have made some great adventure bikes in the last couple of years. Also thankyou for recommending the video and installation guide , I'm pleased you found it useful, it took many... many hours to make !! Great Channel, keep up the good work ! Best Wishes, Carl @ Just The Way It Is
Thank you 🙏, if you would like to find some great biking roads here in Germany (northern Hessen) to add to your tour routes for your customers, let me know and I would be happy to meet up and show you them. Most routes are empty of traffic and have some stunning views and scenery. Carl
After watching the previous RiderCamTV video describing the problem I bought the Weiser Technic lights. If you watch the Just the way it is video you can get a 10% discount; which I did. A few hours to fit them, not difficult. These are massively better than the BMW OEM indicators, I have no regrets fitting them.
Hi guys. Excellent video as usual. As touring experts just a quick one on carrying bulbs when on the continent. Gs’ are LED. What do carry when travelling in France as they don’t use bulbs?
Hi guys. Just a quick question. Did you manage to get the halogen headlight supplied with your gsa swapped to led. It seems lots of people are having problems with this. Cheers and loving the content. Nick
I have the same OEM rear lights on my S1000. I initially thought they were strange but now like them and do not want to change. Would doing something like that void your warranty - assuming your bike is still under warranty?
You say bmw dropped the ball with the multi function rear indicators well firstly i have ridden since 1985 test passed in 1986 car test in 87 and my conclusion of my multi function lights is this many riders and even mor drivers dont apply "mirror signal manouver" the way they do it is " brakes indicate turn" all last minute i do as taught mirror to see whos there indicator in good time then start braking to make my manouver i have done 3.5k on my previous xr with same lights and now nearly 8k on gsa inc europe trip.also mate not many people mentioning the issue in xr or the 1300 gs !!! Strange that dont you think
@@philc7135 In my head we had done a video but we didn’t! Loved the bike but after 12,000 miles it needed new engine shims and chain and sprocket set. This cost just under £1000 including the service. So when I came to do my 18,000 mile service I asked around to see if anyone else had issues and a guy in Florida contacted me and said he had to have shims done at 12 and again at 18. Because of the high miles I do on the bike 18,000 in just over 16 months I felt it was too much. It could have just been a Friday afternoon bike but with guiding tours it was a risk I didn’t want to take. I’m now on my 7th big GSA and have never had to have shims replaced. It’s a shame because the bike really is a great bike.
@@markholroyd5365 thanks for the info…. yeah…. You just don’t need extra servicing costs like that… I’m averaging around 12k fun miles a year on my GSA… hasn’t missed a beat so far… looking fwd to Picos in sept with Toby 👍👍😎
these days BMW drops the ball a lot! I would have to see your WT lights in person, but I am pretty sure the SKENE P3 are brighter and scientifically designed to catch the eyes of others. I know on my bikes, drivers give way more respect ( WAY, WAY, MORE) when I install the Skeen P3 brake/ turn signal lights!

@@JustTheWayItIs-Carl Thanks for the offer we may just take you up on it. Ride safe.
One of the first things I changed was fitting the Weiser’s. Agree with you guys , they are excellent.

It's ridiculous that you spend 18k circa on a GS to have to spend 450 quid to rectify a BMW safety recall issue.
THAT is why I said what I did ^^. I stopped riding BMW. Money spent for value gained no longer makes sense.
Awesome upgrade.

We carry a set of bulbs. Legislation is stupid sometimes and that’s what the law says so that’s what we carry. Don’t think they have updated it yet. 🤣
@@RiderCamTV agreed they do need to update things over there. Thanks again. Safe riding. 😁
Take some daffodil bulbs.
Get you two being all technical. Good video gents. What's the word on the Ridercam rideout 2023?
Thanks buddy. Info coming soon on the ride out :)
@@RiderCamTV looking forward to it. Last year's was good.

Not as yet. Ride safe
@Mark Holroyd hmm thought so. Might be a problem to keep a eye on Mark. Ride safe as well.
They are coming apparently. Some have had them already down here. We are in the list
Will this work on a 2018 gs?

Shouldn't void the warranty as the indicators are plug and play although they need a relay and harness to power them.

Yes it is strange although lots of people have had issues with cars pulling out on them and we had issues with people not seeing us indicate
Go to A BIKE THING - Steve Abel. He has fantastic videos on how to remove panels and reinstall all panels on a GS and GSA
He has indeed but we managed
What happened to the 850GS ?
We did a video on it… loved it but it had issues after 18,000 miles. Ride safe
