I Got A Name Jim Croce Cover

- Correction: I was incorrect about Jim Croce's age. He was in his Late 20's, not his Mid 30s, when he made it big. He died at 30. My apologies.. Also, I may have unintentionally left the impression when I spoke at the start ov the video that he wrote this song. In fact he did not..
On the 40th anniversary of the tragic death of the great Jim Croce, I offer my very humble version of his great song. I Got A Name.. I carry it with me, and I sing it loud.. If it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud.. Peace to your soul Jim.. You will never be forgotten. Nor will your partner Maury... He gave you wings with his FABULOUS guitar and vocal work.....
R.I.P Jim Croce, R.I.P Larry.
Thank you for the best cover of this song around.
When did Larry "RIP?"
You're my kind of pal. Booze, cigars, and guitars. Right on man. Peace
Maybe he does juices and is into yoga
Peace love and happiness
Good cover
My dad loved music, definitely Jim..❤️ my dad played guitar in a high school band, he taught me a ton about music, and God rest his soul, because it lives in me, and in his grandchildren. My eldest daughter teaches music, and all are completely in perfect pitch 👍Miss you dad.❤️😉
Excellent version of a timeless classic. Croce didn't write this, but man, he played the hell out of it. And through dark times and light, this song has never failed to lift my spirits and point me forward, knowing I got a name. Thanks so very much for a virtuoso performance. A great tribute to Jim and his partner Maury, both of whom left rich legacies in lives far too short.
I’d always assumed Croce wrote this song. Thanks for the edification!
You are really VERY GOOD singer Love from 💕 INDIA 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
I know im not from your generation but i admire Jim Croce’s songs. Music knows no boundaries. RIP
Hearing Croce always takes me back to my youth, when everything was fun and games. Hearing you perform it makes me feel sorry for the people not aware of how special this music is. Outstanding cover of one of the most treasured, singer-songwriters.
Very well done. Not an easy song to play, you did it really well!
R.I.P to the one of the best song writers of all time jim croce
Wonderful tribute to Jim. My favorite song of his as well. God bless!
Jim Croce was only 30 years old when he and Maury Muelheisen (only 24 years old) died in that horrific plane crash upon take-off at night time in Louisiana in 1973, they had just missed seeing "I got a name" go to the top of the charts later that same year,.very sad indeed.
A timeless tune; was even on the Django soundtrack.
I just found out Larry entered "Rock-N-Roll Heaven" about 2 years ago. RIP Buddy. You deserve a nice Eulogy too for all the heart and soul music you put out on RUclips and StreetJelly over the years.
Jim will never die, becouse of you. Love you and millions thanks.
Very good cover Jim would be proud.
R.I.P Jim Croce your music will forever be carried on

Great job Larry. Miss Jim Croce. Hard to believe its 40 yrs now.
One of the best cover versions of this song I've ever heard!
That was a fantastic cover. I didn't think that song could be be done on one guitar.
Larry, your arrangement of this song is beautifully done. I wish you would post a lesson on this song like you did for Witchita Lineman. In any event, all the best!
Agree Mike: Tutorial would be nice.
I know it's asking a lot, but this would be so great. It's very hard to see what you're actually playing on this amazing cover
Half an hour later and I'm nearly there ;) Still would be really nice for some of the nuances.
Looks like he drops the low E to D.
Dittoing this request all these years later!
Great job, I think of him often, I’m a Lynyrd Skynyrd Band plane crash survivor
You were on the plane with Ronnie and them?
@@johnnycash4217 oh yea
@@marcofranko2 wow, I can only imagine what it’s like to be involved in a plane crash. I travel a lot through airports for work and always say a little prayer before take off. Glad you’re alive and well!
Love Jim Croce's music. And, the angle of the camera was perfect for watching your fingers work this one. I couldn't help but feel privileged to watch and was in awe of your talent. You're leaving quite a legacy for us in your videos Larry! Truly mesmerizing and magical your gift! Thank you!
Considering Jim dies not too long after releasing this iconic song, I will forever consider the ending to this song one of the greatest and saddest ever...
I cry every time I hear it... 1973 was a few years before I was even born, I so wish I could have met him. Forever RIP.

Awesome cover.
My favorite guitar.
Reminds me of the legendary Glen Campbell, who liked his Ovation guitars.
Coincidentally Jim and his friend crashed on the highway close to where my mom worked.
My kind of pal too... peace brother!
Hi Larry! Million thanks for your wonderful performance. It was almost half century ago that I heard this song for the first time in my life in Seoul Korea by the kind introduction of my university alumni friend who passed away 35 years ago. He asked me to bring his disk my home to listen as I like it very much. While I was listening your singing, tears dropped on my cheek soundlessly. You honor Jim but I honor you pretty much as you are truly innocent and full of love. God bless you. From Kuala Lumpur. Jay
