The problem is still the limited amount of 3.5" props. And many of them are t-mount, which I personally absolutely hate. Nothing worse than messing with finicky little screws on the field. Chris, we need AOS Propellers!!! 😊
Seems you havent checked the prop market lately. Hqprop 3.5x2.8x3 and gemfan 3630 for example. Now the issue would more be not enough 5mm prop shaft motors. Only tmotor 1804 or most 1507 motors.
Not needed anymore And saves weight The 3.5 is heavy enough without em I think the A design was also about eliminating vibrations, not sure But the V5 has cut outs I have it and it's definitely better than my Quadmula SF35 in tuning, but unfortunately around 10g heavier with same setup
They were a bit too snappy! I’m using them on my UL5 and my T3. Replacing arms is just part of using them. But I’ve never broken or bent a motor on those quads. Something has to give.
Due to the use of the new XCell technology, they are no longer needed to suppress vibrations. Instead Chris is focusing on a little thicker arms and as the resting vibrations are handled by the cutouts in the main plate. They are simply no longer needed and he decided to remove the brace so that the airflow is less obstructed. Hope that helps 😊
Thank you Chris for the fantastic frame. Looks like AOS 3.5 is also an ultimate sub 250g freestyle BNF copter. There are only few decent frames on the market but yours has the biggest potential 🚀
Hey Chris, I wonder about the vibration isolation cutout. So it is surposed to help the FC for less noise. But doesnt it have to be positioned right on that cutout? Because on the aos 3.5 you will most probably put the aio fc in front and vtx in the back. So your FC is not on that isolation cutout. The aos 3.5 then missed the design intention or am I wrong about that cutout?
I’m struggling to put this version together. The cutout for the XT connector gets covered by a camera mount so putting the ESC/IMU stack in the front position leaves the builder with challenges. The battery cutouts are of dubious use and the logical places for the battery strap are either too far forward or too far rearward. I’ll PM some photos of my build so far so you can see. I love these build videos! They should definitely precede the product launch.
So, i got my 3.5 v5 and the antenna mount isnt a snug fit on the rear standoffs. It has room to move up and down freely as well as slight wiggle room because the prints holes are larger diameter than the standoffs. Ordered from Hobby RC. The front mounted battery connecter is also a bit of a hinderance to the build overall, and it also doesnt grip the provided xt30 plug very well so it just slips out when i unplug a battery. With these issues, im also getting gentle wobble after a throttle punch, its not propwash as it happens at the peak of a climb and not on the way back down, no amount of tuning seems to fix it. I have a v1 which is absolutely flawless for me so this is a little bit frustrating. If the master himself has any recommendations id be grateful.
Power motors like 2205 do some resonanse vibrations at 50-100% throttle for aos35 frame with o3 unit fc mount style. Need to make pids lower to correct it. Is there any way to fix this problem?
Now you are showing how it's done, but i have figured it out by myself. It's a really good frame, would be nice if you could make it a bit lighter in the V6 Version Thanks for your effort making the FPV experience better and better
That looks like a fairly easy to service frame which is great. If I buy one I will repalce the standoffs with hexagonal standoffs because I use blue loctite and with a hexagonal standoff you can use a 5mm spanner to stop the standoff spinning when you're taking out the screws - even blue loctatie can stick hard after a few years and multiple applications. Be interested to see how it flies.
Just brought mine with mamba F740 aio and flash, firefly 2004 2950kv motors, and the best hd video system, walksnail v3 kit, i hope the frame is as durable as it looks, have always brought Geprcst3.5 and never boke one yet! ❤ the explanation and hopefully will ❤ the v5 3.5" frame as much or more, cheers Chriss
Great timing as mine arrived this week. Assume that was a CNCDrone kit and not the iFlight version. My iFlight didn’t list any washers for the rear standoffs.
am i able to use the arms from the v1 or v2 on the v5 frame at all or no? askin cause i just fell out of a tree and broke 2 =P i figured since I liked the look of the other arms....anyways, great frame and vids, thank you!
I managed to get a old 20x20 iflight flight controller left over. I'm running 1408 3800kv With the 03 It's nice. I still love the feel of the old arms... but I have a large amount of broken ones. So hopefully I become a better pilot and not crash as much, but when we do... it's bad. So if this new frame is stronger, I like it. Flying really nice for me. Lot's of room to build.
Hi! The best way to mount the O3 (for best cooling and lightest weight) is to use a strip of 3M VHB foam tape on the side closest to the USB port and press it down in the rear mounting pattern on the frame. A 1"x1" square will guarentee that it won't ever come loose 👍
@@ChrisRosser I will email you a picture since i started it this pattern. Also the )3 antenna holder wobbles so bad it will definitely cause vibration The prebuilt have it bolted to half of the cut out and the flight controller up against the camera in the front. mine does fit that way just feels like the flight controller not being in the middle of the cut out means its not using it
0:09 Incredibly easy to build… until you add an o3, fc/esc. Then you need the dexterity and patience of a Swiss watch maker. A build guide including electronics for those of us with fat fingers coming from 5” quads would be ideal.
@@luis_gbs They say that, but everytime I watch a video where they test the weight, the weight goes like 5-10g over the advertised weight. Same with the aos 3.5 evo.
Without props, mine came in at 170g, and that’s with an o3, speedy bee f405 mini stack and HQ Motor 1404 3800kV’s. With props and a CNHL 450mah pack, it would probably be just on 250g
if it was 2mm longer in the body the 03 would fit and the FC would fit in the center of the cut outs as it is now the fc uses two screws in the cut out area and two by the camera. Add 2mm to the end it would all fit if you turn the FC 180 degrees or backwards or you could widen the back of the quad so 03 fits between the standoffs and make the antenna hold part of the capture or holder for it. Again about 2 mm more between the standoffs wide or 2mm long
Hey Chris, I love what you do man and I support it by buying your frames. But why the heck is all the iterations of aos3.5 have different arms??? I own 3x of aos3.5 now(different version each) with a broken arm each and I cannot rebuild a frame from any of them. It's really annoying specially when theres not really much different from all of them(well maybe except the V1). Your frames are like disposable now, forcing people to buy the new one if you break an arm. It's really annoying! If only it's any cheaper, I would love to have arms in 5mm thickness!
Amen brother! And for disposable frames they ain't cheap. You can get replacement parts for any of them from CNC Drones in Canada, but it's £15 shipping. Might be worth it for you with 3 frames to fix, but I'm looking at adding all the spares I might never need just to make it worthwhile. Which quickly adds up... Which might tempt some to just buy the new frame instead... Until you realise there are other frames available for less than half the price. It feels like the FPV version of Apple, but worse - Next week, V5 MAX, upgrade now or be forced out!
I have the aos hd aos v2 and the aos 03 3.5 bnf. My aos 5 I flew into a pole camera cage first. Where can I get just the camera cage? Want to upgrade to the 03 anyways. And why did my aos 3.5 come with carbon cage? I'd like to change my 3.5 out with aluminum before I do it again lol. Absolute best flying frames out there. Love your videos thankyou so muck chris
@@luis_gbs So v5 is better for stack vibration - check. How about overall performance, are they built for different use cases? Why would i choose one over the other?
