I love how you are pushing the evolution of FPV by scientific analysis and engineering. I'm looking forward to the innovations you come up with in the future.
Don't get me wrong I like the scientific approach but in this case what is the "overall improvement" over some "normal" frame? Would 99.99% of people even notice the difference?
I would like to bring your attention to Quad66's War Pig toothpick frames which have used a similar principle to the X-cell. X-cell sits within the frame, while with the War Pig, the FC (diamond AIO) mounting points are located on thin struts linking the X in the centre of the frame, in this way the AIO is also isolated from the arm both flexing and twisting momentum
Does anybody have instructions for the 3.5" frame version? FYI mine came from CNCdrones with nothing, not even a QR code card? Is there an exploded view diagram showing HDZero freestyle 2? Has anybody published such a build video for 3.5 yet? Overall, I was disappointed to see the carbon arms were not even bevelled...
So hard to tell if this stuff is snake oil or not. I have an AOS UL5 and I dunno vibration wise it's never really been all that special as far as I can tell. I mean it's fine, flies great, but not like I could actually turn off stuff like the second dterm lowpass and gain performance, too much vibration. It's really betaflight doing all the heavy lifting in the case of the UL5, in my experience. And I've replaced literally every component on it trying to figure out why. Could just be a factor of it being a lightweight, or is the AOS stuff snake oil? I dunno! Could the two MPU6000 based FC's I tried on it just be kind of noisey? Maybe! Could it just be user error on my end? Absolutely! I wish there was an independent third party taking all the latest frames, building them with the same electronics, and doing some very specific flight routines to compare vibration performance. And then maybe tuning that build to the n-th degree to demonstrate if any of its quirks are limiting performance. Probably a build with emax eco motors and speedybee f405, the most popular components, and starting from 0 with the tune and showing step response graphs in pidtoolbox and what not. It's just when the owner of the product is the one telling us how their product is superior it makes me a little sus is all. At the same time you kind of own the field of critically analyzing these aspects of performance where nobody else bothers, which is great! Anyways, new frames look pretty cool! Maybe I'll get one... Interested in the new UL5 whenever that's released. I've always liked light setups. I've been using 3s 1100 - 1300 packs on the light setups and a higher kv motor instead of a 6s setup. Is that why my UL5 is kind of vibey? Maybe i dunno! My thought was lower voltage lower electrical noise and since it's a lightweight the increase in amp draw wouldn't be that bad or kind of non-existant, and I'm ok with giving up some of the top top end of a 6s setup. My frame can't take much more power anyways the pid loop is already starting to get unhappy with full throttle on the 3s setup. I do have a 1000uf 16v FM series Panasonic cap on board to absorb electrical noise too. HGLRC F722mini stack taken from a Rekon 6s bnf. FPVCycle 2203 2800kv motors.
@rcvg don’t use speedybee stuff there are much better fcs out there. The v3 is ‘popular’ because they are heading to Russia and the Ukraine ( I’m a bf dev and see our cloud data) they are cheap and nothing else.. and I agree as a frame designer this is different for the sake of it which is fine but I don’t see a big improvement frankly. The new gyro of choice also is tge 42688 which has less built in LPF that the m6k and frankly has a sharper feel.
This is great news. I was really waiting for this video :) Your frames always have been super simple to work on, with almost any other frame it feels like it's 80% thought through and I have to dremel myself through the rest. The long body makes it so much easier to work on, even on your already existing versions. And like mentioned on patreon I love the aluminium cage and the different anodized colors, glad you went through with it! Nice addition with that x-cell technology too. This is such a clever idea! The more classic arm design might also create more acceptance in the drone community... though personally I loved those truss structured arms ;) Damn, now I wanna build just another quad :P

Hey, super new to FPV here but I what I have read seems to suggest that the soft mounts mean that the forces applied by the motors get's dampened, the soft mounts absorb a portion of it, which would mean the stack takes a second to be "parallel" with the frame/at the same angle, I assume this would give incorrect gyro readouts and spiral from there. I could be very wrong so take it with a grain of salt, on the other side less vibrations would also mean cleaner readouts so hard to say what's best. is there any replacement kit for the old frame? or we just replace the whole frame?

Sorry if I missed this but is the stack supposed to be hard mounted with this new design?
