I preordered this frame, and i really love the design. Its easy to build and repair, and most importantly it flies amazing. But i just realized there are some differences between my preordered version and this one. I have two more pressnuts below the rear standoffs, instead of those plastic washers and the screws to mount the camera plate 1:38 are actually M2x3 instead of M2x4 (and there were only 3 in the kit, i got around that small problem though).
i hope iflight have sorted their BOM for your frame kits. So annoying to have to source and wait weeks for 23mm standoffs for the camera cage because theyre useless.
I ordered a v5 frame but have an issue with fitment. The 4 center standoffs sit almost 2mm higher then the rest because of the press nuts. Am I really supposed to add washers to the other standoffs? Or grind them down? Kind of a trashy oversight.. And what's the point of the carbon in the camera cage? Why not just machine the aluminum to take the rubber camera mount?
I bought the toothpick frame from CNC drones and they didn't chamfer any edges, looks like this one isn't either. Chamfers prevent delamination and help with strength in a crash. Won't be buying any more of these frames unless they fix this, it's been industry standard for years. Pretty bad considering what these cost
Nice frame but mine came with incorrect stand off for top of camera cage. Both sections in the heat sealed bag had the same size vertical stand offs for the carbon plates 😕
Currently in the market for new parts. I just got back in to the hobby after the ELRS products seem to have began evolving. Currently got 4 whoops, all running beautifully. 2 FrSky True X’s and a Stretched X for racing, Now I want to build some solid quads with some really good parts, quality stuff that can take a beating. One for Acro and another for LR. I travel a bit so I would love to fly around the areas I go to. Hopefully in a month or two I’ll have watched enough of these videos and new releases to grab some solid FC’s, ESCs and motors. I keep hearing about SpeedyBee and T-Motor. T-Motor is old school, but I am totally new to SpeedyBee. Edit: I think I am definitely going with one of these AOS frames.
Are you planning to release a 5.5 V5? ..I live at 7k elevation and most 5" quads struggle to carry a gopro. I tried going 03 but really prefer hdzero for freestyle. This leaves me with light/weak frames plus the want for something like a go 3S (not sure its worth the cost to get similar image quality to an 03). The only build I've found that is powerful and light enough is my FPV Cycle Sonicare paired with the 25mm split shift motors.. I'm also looking your motors/really like some of the frame designs. Keep doin what your doin, I really like seeing the innovation and options in our hobby.
I really like this frame but I have found with the camera mounts for the o3 either the camera pokes out past the guards or if you flip it around, the guards are in view... is there any solution for this?
With the included soft mounts the camera should be perfectly placed about 2mm back from the metal. If the camera goes further back than that you can get vignetting on the superwide setting. There are STLs available for the soft camera mount so you can modify and move the slots backwards if you want and print in TPU.
Hey Chris. I don’t feel my AOS 5v5 + AOS Supernova to be very rock solid speaking about vibrations, I mean, I feel more stable on the AOS EVO 1.2 and the Superonava motors feels like they are ramping up. Are you going to release custom rates for it?
Just ordered this frame and a set of the super nova motors. Will be running the gemfan 5226 and 5236 props. Will also carry a GoPro 8. What size lipo is recommended for this combo?
AOS 5 v1.2 spare parts are unavailable. Discontinued and soldout Everywhere. I bought one less than a year ago and now I can't find replacement parts. So they were right that you update the models too often.. 😑
Would love to see a AOS Frame with a more mainstream design, like the Impulse RC Apex, Quadmula Siren F5 Split or the Piratframe Hook would be also interesting. I myself have the aos 3.5 evo and I really love it. I tried the aos 5, but that one was not for me. So are there any plans on making different Designs with the X cell technology? Or are you going to license your patent to other manufacturers? Keep up the great work Chris👍
So disappointed that V5 still only has 3 holes per motor. 25% less fastners is silly when screws can and do fall out. 1 screw out, 50%, 1 more 25% of screws left. nuts.
I like how this frame is trying to innovate but its going to break on hard landings. the arms are spindly and they are only 6mm thick. for comparison, the arms on a geprc mk5 are 5mm and much wider giving them more rigidity. I know they aren't in the same weight class but they are both meant for freestyle and need to have a little bit of durability at least...
I love my 5 v2. I have build 5 of them, Beat the crap out of and retired 2 of them. Truly a great frame. Good work Chris. Thanks.

Just started to build the 3.5" version of it - absolutely beautiful bit of kit - will definitively build the 5" one soon :)
I will wait for the V6 video.
Lol!
The v7 will already be out
Chris, I’d love a PID tune for your AOS 3.5 V5. Can you do a basic tune with 1404 motors?
i hope iflight have sorted their BOM for your frame kits. So annoying to have to source and wait weeks for 23mm standoffs for the camera cage because theyre useless.
Awesome looking frame, Chris! Fantastic design! 😃
Thanks for the how to!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Same with my build from iFlight. I left that standoff removed, but I also fly in grassy areas.
@@RichardAFPV I had some sent to me via HobbyRC where I originally purchased.
like the (your) frame building...relaxing

Are GoPro mounts for previous AOS 5 frames compatible with V5 ?

That helps, just started my V5 build, with the AOS super nova motors. I like all the options makes it easy to build. What FC do you recommend?
i would have preferred a split bottom plate design
Are the props in view if you use the 03 airunit love the videos
No. That is one of the features of this frame.

There's a resonant mode associated with that missing screw. That's why it's not there. You might consider using some type of thread locker.
@@24kJameshow do you know this? Could you share the vid where its discussed?
thread lock grease dude
This guy doesn't use loctite and it shows.
Been running my 3" with 2 out of 4 screws on each motor for a month without anything coming loose at all.
@@Carticiak i don't use locktite because it makes replacing motors a nightmare
