The only thing this announcement did was remind me that those who brought the MCU to the state it’s in are still in charge. I love RDJ but he’s a horrible choice for Doom.
@@roycemeek0842 He doesn't assert any of the characteristics that would lead to an effective portrayal. I'm skeptical this will end up a faithful rendition of Doom rather than a Stark variant that takes on the mantle, but even if that were the case, and even if his face were unrecognizably scarred - RDJ just doesn't have the tonality, regality, or authoritative stature needed.
theres a comic where viktor von doom and tony switch bodies so there are some weird timeline shenanigans that could make it work even if its clearly rdj lol
What I think: No this does not undo Iron Man's sacrifice in Endgame. I do think that there is potential to see Downey's face when he is in Dr. Doom mode. Especially if a character seeing it. More emotional etc. I do think that Downey is going to play/act differently than he did for Tony.
This is one of the single most desperate and shameless moves they could've made We all know the MCU has been on a huge decline since Endgame but bringing back RDJ to leach off of the old hype displays a complete lack of creative integrity. There were fantastic options for Doom but they chose to bring back an old actor based purely on the fact he would drum up hype. Heartbreaking
To me, this is an act of desperation from Disney. It's clear this was done not because RDJ is the best for the role, but because of nostalgia bait. Pathetic😒
Not only is he not a good fit for Doom (at least in my opinion) but the whole reason Disney’s bringing him back is likely so they can use his popularity to try and sell tickets and save their asses, not because he’s a good casting choice
I’m just disappointed we weren’t allowed to finish Kangs story. I know he isn’t everyone’s favorite character, but I really enjoyed how it felt like he was the only one who understood the terrors of the multiverse and his powers. I just wish marvel finished that story, only thing keeping me interested in the MCU
I just think it’s stupid that they’d never show his face. I mean if you were never gonna show his face, then why even cast RDJ? There are tons of other actors who could play a better Doom so unless they were gonna show that he looks like RDJ and the other characters know it, there’s no reason why RDJ should’ve been casted
Doctor Doom is my favourite Marvel villain and such a complex character with a fantastic rivalry with Reed Richards (pun intended). Though I LOVE RDJ, and hes a phenomenal actor I do worry if this casting will affect how they adapt Doom since his rivalry with Reed and Latverian/Romani heritage is a quintessential part of his character. Regardless, Im willing to give this a chance and Im excited to see Doctor Doom return to the big screen again. They could explore a good story about Tony being his worst enemy and the biggest threat to the multiverse; since the MCU started with RDJ, it feels rather poetic that it would end with him. I do think they can touch on good themes surrounding the power of our choices, as Doom could reflect the juxtaposition of Tony's entire character arc in the MCU since Tony learned humility and what it means to make sacrifices for others because of his experience in Afghanistan and friendship with the Avengers, Doom on the other started out with nothing as a Romani peasant and lost his whole family and had to learn to fend for himself mastering both science and magic and liberating the people of his country and becoming the ruler of Latveria for the better, thus creating this god-complex in Doom and establishing an underlying sense of resentment for others if they disagree with his perspective as shown with his immense pettiness against Reed Richards fueling their iconic rivalry, so there is room for them to explore the parallels between the two. I just feel very mixed about the casting since it feels like they're just hyping up these movies by bringing back RDJ. But like I said, I'm always happy to be proven wrong since RDJ will surely do a great job. Guess Harvey Dent was right: *"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain"*
@@jxdynz717 Yes a watered down, non eastern European actor, no accent, Skinny, and most likely a Variant of Dr Doom not the real one. Boring no thank you. We already got two non Dr Doom Dr Dooms in Live Action. This is such a trash casting. Not to mention 90 million? LOL That's half an entire Avengers films f*cking Budget... Not to mention this will just be a watered down Secret Wars also. Doom will get like 30 min screentime in between two movies then get killed off.
Tbh i think Deadpool 3 is gonna be the last Marvel movie i see in theaters, it was the only Marvel movie I've been hyped for post-Endgame and i thought it was absolutely amazing, in fact i say it's probably my all time favorite Marvel movie now, it was THAT good. But after Deadpool 3 im not really hyped for any of the other stuff that's coming out and I'm probably just gonna wait for the other movies to go to streaming TL;DR i think I'm done watching Marvel movies in theaters after Deadpool 3 which i thought was amazing
Oh you don’t know, it could work. When you think about it, Doom and Tony are alike, but with Doom having Tony’s worse personality traits being turned up to 11 And from a storytelling standpoint, it gives the story some real tension and stakes, as now the remaining avengers have to deal with an evil version of a former ally, and this will be even harder on Spider-Man
??? LOL Keep loving the MCU while they make dipshit choices like this. You will never get real Skarr, Gorr, Dr Doom, Namor, etc. Just generic Cosco versions.
they're 100% gonna show his face constantly to justify the presumably massive paycheck
Like how spiderman pointlessly keeps removing his mask😭
Spider-Man will be horrified seeing his face alive
Yup need to nostalgia and Easter Egg bait to get tickets.

I hope one day Kang will be done justice in another saga or two.
This is my hope too, if the rumors about Majors contract not allowing Marvel to recast him it'll eventually expire and they can give Kang a shot again
