- In this video, I look at the new Timex Expedition North Titanium Automatic. This Timex field watch shows Timex has really upped their game! It features a titanium case, sapphire crystal, mechanical automatic movement, screw-down crown and 200m water resistance! It comes on an "eco-friendly" strap and is packaged with recycled materials.
This watch shows that Timex has an ongoing commitment to elevate their product line to higher levels of features and quality that began with the release of the retro, mechanical Marlin. Timex is a watch brand on the move, transforming themselves from a seller of inexpensive quartz watches to a seller of watches that can compete with watch brands no one would have expected them to challenge.
Does this watch elevate Timex's game? Is it, at $349, a good value? Does Timex have a winner here? To find out, you'll have to Watch It!
I wish they have other dial colors... But overall it's for sure a great watch! Automatic, titanium, sapphire, 200m WR for $350? Yes please!
I like blue dials myself...🙂
One of the best maybe the best watch reviews on RUclips! Excellent intro. Great background music. And you didn’t need to say one word. Your videos spoke for itself. Simple wording and that’s all I needed to read. I just subscribed. Great work! Great watch!
Thanks, man! Cheers!
Cheers with the Timex my brother
It a great watch...And value for money..Light, Strong, Elegant & Classic
I like where Timex is going! That looks great!
They are importing high quality Chinese products under the Timex brand so as to not raise suspicion on the quality to price difference.
I was never a Timex fan but the specs and looks of this watch made me want to buy it.
I've been happy with mine. I put a black mesh bracelet on it and it looks even better to me...but, I'm a fan of mesh bracelets anyway.
Word of caution, if you don’t buy directly from Timex you can’t get the extended warranty.

Unlike most “reviewers” on RUclips, who unbox the watches with no words at all and crappy music (or no music at all), you give a description and use decent music. I must say, this was VERY professionally made. Well done!
I would love to buy this watch.
Thanks for the compliment! I try to let the watches speak for themselves as much as possible.
Ordered this watch from Timex as soon as it was released and really like it. So much so, that I just bought a second one (only $280) to keep in the box for if or when the first one dies or is lost or stolen. I've been bitten too many times by not being able to replace some item due to it being discontinued, so I have a spare just in case.
Wow, it's so great you bought two? Now that's dedication! 😁
This was a great video, simple and direct. I ordered my watch a couple of days ago, delaying because the initial reviews were saying the watch couldn't be hacked, a deal breaker for me. After those reviews were proven wrong, I pulled the trigger.
I guess I should start deciding on a replacement strap. I've got a dozen various leather styles and many NATOs, so I guess I'll do the trial and error thing.
Can't wait until my watch arrives!
My experience was like yours. I watched a review here on youtube (won't say which one) before I got mine and he said - without having one in his hands - that it didn't have a hacking movement. I'm glad I bought it anyway!
I usually change straps anyway. It adds to the fun of the hobby to me. Good luck! 👌
Hello,
I need to ask a question about the Expedition North Titanium. On the Green strap / Grey dial verison Timex mentions the use of super Luminova for the hands and hour markers. Is this the same for the Black strap / Black dial version like the one you review? They don't mention Super Luminova on the black version and it's a bit confusing.
I really like it. Here in Canada if you order right from Timex it goes for $479 (taxes and shipping included). Now the question is, you buy this Timex or go for a Hamilton Khaki Field for $650 CAD? Not sure. Thanks for the review. Dan from Québec Canada.
I would say it depends upon a person's budget. There's no doubt that the Hamilton has a higher level of fit and finish, but someone who is a buyer of affordable watches can't go wrong with this one in my opinion.
@@watchit5985 Makes sense. Thanks my friend. Dan
@@danielberthiaume3648 you are more than welcome!
@Daniel Berthiaume You can get one now for around $380 CAD. There is a welcome promo code that works.
I bought one and it arrived yesterday. I like the watch and the dial is great. A simple subdued titanium field watch with all the specs id like. the lume is not so great however.
Yeah, like I said in the video, the lume is only so-so. But, everything else is great!
Timex made all the right moves with this one. The lume is weak but probably on par with my Hamilton Khaki Automatic
The lume is definitely the only real weak point. 😐
I bought this watch for 300,- euros! I also have a swatch sistem51 automatic! I bought this entry watch to see and compare my experience with a Quartz watch! And I’m very pleased! I never had to wind the automatic watch! So I bought this one in you’re review. It’s a good watch and I love titanium! I never owned a sapphire crystal before. Better not drop the watch or it could break! Thanks for the review excellent watch and excellent video wel put together and great intro
Thanks for the compliment, Toni! Enjoy that titanium Timex! Don't worry about the sapphire crystal as it's almost as hard as diamond! Cheers! 😁
@@watchit5985 just got it this morning. I’m very pleased with the lume! It’s very bright! Even after one hour. Except the numbers are a bit dimmer but the dials shine extremely bright. Can’t complain! I’m happy with it
Ive got the Hamilton Khaki Field and Bulova Hack, both are amazing timepieces for sure but this Timex is calling my name.
Congrats on having both the Hack and the Khaki! Both are great watches! Adding the Timex would be the field watch trifecta!
Just 1 glaring omission - no AR coating :(
Don’t mind the watch but it’s only titanium at RRP extortionate, 31% save £219 but I would only pay half that
You can always call them up and make them an offer I suppose. 😉
Weird I’m watching at the same time the watch hands say
Great informative review done on the watch. I am going to order one after watching your review. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Make sure to subscribe! Good luck with the Timex!
Beautifull
Great out of the box review. I would like to see a review after 6 - 8 months of wearing it everyday. I found that it’s hard to know much about a watch until you spend some time with it. Questions like: Does it keep good time, what does the band feel and look like after breaking it in, does the case scratch or show signs wear easily, does the lume improve or get worse over time? I found to my surprise that sometimes things I thought I wouldn’t like, such as the band, turned out really nice after I used them a while and some bands got worse. So if at all possible, can you please do a follow up video after you put some time on the watch? Thanks for the great and honest review.
It keeps as good a time as you could expect for any "workhorse" movement. It's comparable to my Seiko NH35 powered watches in time keeping. It is noisy because of the one-way rotor winding and sometimes i look down at my watch after moving my arm and its vibrating slightly from the rotor spinning madly!
Thank you the reply!
This would be my first Timex, hope I won't regret it! :)
I haven't regretted mine. I put a black mesh bracelet on mine because I think mesh bracelets are great! 🙂
@@watchit5985 I will replace it for sure as well. Any nice places where I can get one?
Looks great and will tack a Beating
a 9015 movement might be better as high beat 28,000 bph
Well, I would have rather had the 9015 in it even at a higher price. Good point!
Wish it had a white dial and day/date..and no crown guards..those bug me.
Nice. Dan Henry
Thanks!
is the miyota noisy?
Yes, all Miyotas are noisy to some extent and this one is no exception!
Thanks for replying, it is a good looking design, I am bothered by the watches that produce some noise when I wear it.
Hos is the titanium case? Is it easy to scratch?
I don't have a single scratch yet. Titanium is softer than steel so you can bet you'll get scratches on it in time.
@@watchit5985 I've heard if a watch case is made of grade 5 titanium, it would strongly resistant to scratches. Anyway, usually many watches on a market are made of grade 2 titanium.
How is the crown action and power reserve?I wonder if Timex subcontracted this watch to another outfit. one more thing,is there any coating on the Ti since it's a soft metal and will gouge.
The crown is a tiny bit gritty on mine. Power reserve for these Miyota 8-series movements is about 38 hours. I don't know about the coating on the titanium.
