Interesting watch. Very odd about the movement, at this point I would have thought all the non-hacking 8000 would be gone. I've been curious about Timex's Solar Expedition North, I might have to check that one out.
Wow. Better movements and better options for much less from better brands. I appreciated your points on EDC - but add that I have an extensive EDC setup - but for my use not following blogs or the brands... That is the costly act. ;) cheers.
I am so enamored with this watch, just love the dial layout and case shape. This is the second time watching your review. 👍 Thank you. Thanks to your review and the insane aftermarket prices I won't be adding this oh so close to my stable.
It's a great one for sure. I would not be surprised if they release other colourway down the road that may be enticing and without limited edition markup.
I got more value out of the jdm Casio Protrek Prw-30-1AJR for $390 cdn (ouch...jdm prices suck) or the Citizen blue Angles BJ7006-56L (on a metal bracelet) I just got on amazon's black Friday canada sale for $305 cdn than than that watch is. Both those watches are unique and put a grin on my face. Also I wasn't planning on the citizen but I've been digging them for years and couldn't pass that price up. Its too bad it coincided with another watch that I was tired or waiting for years for Casio to bring over here. Well at least I sold some watches to buy the Casio so it wasn'tt too bad. That timex watch is plain as heck and honestly I'd rather have the equivalent Momentum, Betucci or Marathon field watch for HUNDREDs less and they'd put a bigger grin on my face with probably better QC. Sorry about the rant but Timex auto prices bug the crap out of me. If they put a hackable NH35 or equiv myota with a high beat I could see the price but not a mvmt they are too ashamed to even list anywhere what it is!
Good review. Agree on the movement. Ability to synchronise pretty key on a field watch. I even have the hackable 8000 on my Marlin which I picked up for a fraction of the price of this. I’d be buying a Boldr for this money. Better specs and movement and still a respected brand.
@@halfpastblog hi there I just realized that this watch is similar in price and specs to the boldr venture, however I'm not sure which one of them has better movement, does the boldr venture have a better movement than the timex?
Nice fair review, I think you are spot on about the movement and caseback 👍 . Having the 13 to 24 hour numerals without 1 to 12 being present seems odd to me.
It's a fairly well spec field watch for $350 titanium, sapphire, 200m WR, Arabic dial, but it loses its field watch status choosing what has to be the loudest citizen 8218 (miyota 8213/8215) equlivent movement
That gives me a chuckle, picturing a man in camo creeping through the bush, about to surprise his prey, only to check the time and frighten away all animals within a half km. WHHIRRRR! 🤣
What a great laid out and thorough review, I really like Timex and it'll be a shame to see scalpers ruin the experience of true fans trying to buy this watch
Scalper scum bags beat me to it. I wanted one so bad but they all sold out before I could get one. Sad to think now most of these will just sit in some drawer or watch box and never get worn as I intended to wear it daily!
50 dollar carsbiners?!?! I'm into edc and that's reidiculus. Just like that watch. Nato bands should be really long so they can be strapped over protective clothing or you can trim the excess with some scissors and a lighter and that mvmt at that price is gross. My jdm casio protrek or the Citizen Blue Angles watches I just bought have more valuable mvmts than that old miota. And those watches use solar quartz! If they really wanted to appeal to the edc crowd they should have given us some savings and put one of timex's solar quartz mvmts in it. Edc people love solar quartz. Its dependable, durable and basically maintenance free. Just put some QC in the watches timex and make sure the hands hit the indicies properly and drop a few hundred off the cost. Then you have something that edc people would love. If your going to charge that price at least give people a high beat hacking myota. But I'm betting all the cost in this watch went to James Brand. And offering this watch as a "limited" edition with that cheap mvmt is a joke.
Just my opinion, but EDC should be easily acquirable items. They will be carried every day in any and every environment with the potential of being lost or stolen. It is about having potential needs (writing, cutting, repairs, time keeping, etc...) covered by having basic things ALWAYS with you. Yes, a watch. No not a limited, thus irreplaceable piece of jewelry. Lots of 50-ish dollar Timex and Casio watches out there that would fit into an EDC kit. I use a Timex Expedition Scout 41mm.
Nice watch! A little pricy but at least you got nice materials... Now i'll just wait for Guillaume to sell me that watch! 🤣 I should have bought it when they released it, didn't realized it was a Limited Edition with only 500 to sell.
Hey you don't need to spend allot on EDC.😅 Put a nice USB Olight and a Victorinox Alox (the NOICE version of the swiss army knife) in your pocket an you've got something any EDCer would respect.
Usually it's the movement that's better than the encasement, on this it's out of step to the what looks like quality, it should have been a caliber. 9015 type.
This watch is for the mechanical faithful. and want a Timex with a mechanical engine. You want accuracy? Get a Citizen blue angel e drive atomic timed watch. Want an affordable American assembled watch with an accurate movement Miyota 9015, buy a Vaer for just under $500.
The James brand always overcharges for anything with their name on it. I love Timex, but as a knife guy who got into watches I'll pass on this one. I'm already biased against them
Very happy that you like the watch 🙂. Great review as always👏keep up the good work !
Thanks my man! 👍 👍
Interesting watch. Very odd about the movement, at this point I would have thought all the non-hacking 8000 would be gone. I've been curious about Timex's Solar Expedition North, I might have to check that one out.
My theory is that they had 500 old movements in the basement and that's why this is limited. 😂 I think the Solar is probably the one to get.
Wow. Better movements and better options for much less from better brands. I appreciated your points on EDC - but add that I have an extensive EDC setup - but for my use not following blogs or the brands... That is the costly act. ;) cheers.
Yes! Spot on. Following trends will definitely cost a kidney, plus you don't always get good value.
I am so enamored with this watch, just love the dial layout and case shape. This is the second time watching your review. 👍

Boldr would definitely provide a better value. I think the attraction for some will be the collaboration.
@@halfpastblog yes possibly although James is not a brand I know and I don’t get the whole EDC thing anyway! Keep up the good work.
@@chrisphillips554 EDC is for people who like heavy pants. 😂 Thanks so much! 👍 👍 👍

@@marcdave9521 What is in the venture? I've worn both. They wear differently.

Thanks. Yes, I actually find that handy myself when I need to calculate 24 hour in my head. It is simple math but this way you could tell at a glance.
Congrats on the subs! Hopefully the algorrythm will start to show your vids to more people now.
Thanks for the support, Logan. 👍 👍
I might be the only person in the world who enjoys the grinding sound of that rotor.

Absolutely. 💯
Este reloj , ni está edición se vende en México, es más ni la conocen ¿ Cómo se puede adquirir si es posible y en dónde?
Hi. I'm sorry but it sold out really fast. Timex just released a new version that is a bit different but not limited.

You make a good point. This is definitely fashion meets EDC.
Ironman shock would be my EDC or Casio GW5610/DW5600
This watch is useless in low/no light environments. Beautiful watch though
or you can get the timex expedition north titnium that is not limited for 350 dollars. it even has a better dial .
Agreed. It did not exist at the time of the video.
Nice watch! A little pricy but at least you got nice materials...

Ya... But I wouldn't stop buying. 😂
A knife, a pen, a watch and a flashlight 😉 " ... and a lamp, all I need is this lamp... and this thermos, that's all I need..."
Great watch, great review, liked and subbed
Thanks, Ross! Much appreciated and welcome aboard. 👍
Actually it’s 501 total..one of the other watch guys on here got 000/500

what Timex can do is ugrade to a Miyota 8315 which has hacking seconds. You may a bit more.

Too Big but very beautiful!
Thanks for watching and commenting. 🍻👍
Yes needs to be hacking and less than 11mm thick and 38mm
It would have been a LOT more interesting if it was a quartz.
I really don't get peoples fascination of movements that are so outdated and innacurate.

A lot of colabs charge a premium for those willing to pay for the name. If the name doesn't appeal to you then your choice is a wise one.
Price $
It's in the video somewhere.
LGR is that you?
That's lost on me.
