Looks like Timex is finally paying attention to the market. Green with a beige strap might be a good combo.
They're definitely listening! Have a great Monday buddy 🍗🍖🍻
A few years ago I would have been shocked to see a sapphire solar timex. Nice to see.
Absolutely!! I was actually very surprised legitimately in the unboxing when I saw it had sapphire. I missed that in the specifications when I ordered it.😎👍
When I was a young lad my first watch was a Timex. It is nice to see the company put out some more innovative styles. 🍷
Absolutely my friend!! I had a number of Timex as a kid before acquiring my first Seiko 😎👍🍷Cheers my friend
Thanks for the video so close to Christmas!
Thank you for tuning in!!😊🙏
Thanks for covering this one Aron, Timex are coming out with some really good stuff at the moment, cheers 👍
Just ordered this watch based on watching this video twice. Can't wait to get it.
I have a dozen field watches (retired military) but this is the most expensive one that I've bought. During my service, watches were a necessary tool, but they got ruined pretty often in real world use. This should last forever in my easy civilian life.
Again, thanks for this review.
Thanks for your service Albert. This watch will definitely last you decades to come. Cheers 😎👍
I've had this watch for about a week now and I'm regretting it. Everything about it is perfect for me, EXCEPT, it's next to impossible to see the dial when it's not in direct light. Any low light conditions and the dial disappears. I bought a Casio MTP-S120L and that will be my daily driver over this one.
@@JustinGoldsmith Is there any lume or light on that Casio??
@@NativeTexMexican There's very little lume. It's not a great low light watch either but it's visible in far lower lighting than the Timex. Since this comment I've bought a Steeldive SD1970 that I wear daily. I also bought a Seiko SRPG35 for when I want a field style. The lume on the Seiko isn't great either but it's better than the Casio or Timex for sure. The Steeldive has incredible lume.
@@JustinGoldsmith Thanks for the info. ✌🤓
Great review. Just picked up the blue face solar version. Really a nice solid watch.
citric acid leaves discoloration yes, I use it to etch the knife edges of some of the knives in my collection.
Thanks for the review, I'm looking to buy this type since it's outdoor watch and I'm not really into something like G-Shock or any big rugged watch. Solar movemt, 10bar WR, screwdown crown, saphire crystal, nice luminous, just perfect.
I want one of these. I have a 7.48” wrist so the 41mm version should look appropriate.
I got my first watch at 10 years old. It’s was a Timex. Although I have some higher end watches now, I’ve always been a fan of Timex.
I’m looking forward to getting one of these.
Timex have really stepped up on the last few years, especially with this series. Good on them! 👏
Absolutely Tom!! Thanks for tuning in 😎👍
Yes! And Timex still provides a quality, robust watch for the working man at Walmart prices. Timex still has a valuable place in society (as does Casio).
They had to they were getting left behind!
Thanks for the 2 reviews, I've had my eye on this one and the Expedition Sierra 40mm green one also. If they start making some new colorways in 36mm (just black is offered for now) that would be the sweet spot for me. Knowing Timex they likely will come out with them in the new few years. Plus give it a few months and I'd wager Timex will allow discounts on this line with their frequent sales.
This model likely uses the Epson AS32 movement, the dimensions of the watch and the 4 month cell reserve sure do point to it (Timex uses some of their movements in other watches, the Q series is an example). And as for why no Indiglo: it would be nearly impossible to use a solar cell under an electroluminescent dial. EL dials are opaque, that's a no-no for a solar watch.
This is really great information in a comment!! Thank you Thomas 😎👍🙏
Thanks for letting us see the second hand movement. I see even with this one, it doesn't line up on the upper left quadrant of the dial. I wonder how loud the ticker is.
A Timex I'd actually want to own. This looks like a really nice watch.
I want to see more bold traditional color styling also different bands with this one.
Thanks for the review. Just wanted to point out that the reason why the second hand isnt hitting the indices at some points is because it was probably put on by a human and not a robot. If youre off by even by even 1/100th then second hand isn't always going to hit the the indices. Sorry if my grammar is bad, English is my second language :-)
Your English is excellent. It really doesn't bother me to be honest. Many quartz watches have this issue, so I just got over it and enjoy the watches 😁👍Thanks for tuning in!!
Thanks! By the way, how's the watch doing after a year?
the second hand is missing alot of marks for that price range.
Thanks for the video. The lettering 'solar powered' is not centered on the dial, appears to be quality issue.
I really like this watch. The series is great.
Absolutely!! Cheers man 😎👍
Didn't catch it in the video, but does this model have a loud ticking second hand like the usual non-solar Timex? It's a huge deal breaker for me and made me drift away from the brand unfortunately. Thanks.
As a first time user it would have been useful to see how you set the time and the date. Thanks!
Great point! Thank you for tuning in 😎👍
Mine came in last week. 4/12/2022. The hands look great. Checks boxes.40mm. 100m WR. Screw-down crown. Sapphire. BUT, that dial kills it. The numerals on mine seem even duller than the ones in the video. Lume is minimal with no delineation for 12 or the other cardinal points. The date is difficult to read. This is supposed to be a field watch. I go to the field and sometimes that field is dark. You will need a light to read this after dusk. BTW, that "NATO" is too short to be a NATO. It is regular strap length. Not a keeper.
Exactly the same experience for me. You can forget reading this watch in any low light conditions. I wanted to like this watch so much but it just isn't well thought out. The strap complaint is also legit.
did you mention the price ?
Got a new one of these. Lost ten minutes on the first day. What wrong?
shame about the second hand, otherwise that's a nice watch. the 12 o'clock pip should also be a double pip or something distinctive
Is this real sapphire or just sapphire coated??
I have a question does timex solar watch charge when the crown is adjust position? I Have this question because quartz watch gets off when we pull the crown
I know this comment was made 2 months ago but I have this exact same question
Thanks for the good review. I've watched it ( no pun intended) a few times and today my watch arrived - same gunmetal gray model as reviewed here. Side story - UPS truck arrived without me seeing and with 10 cm of snow falling he came to the foot of the wrap around porch and tossed the package up about 8' from where he was standing. It was probably there 3 -4 hours before I noticed a partly snow covered little box in the snow. First impression are good although I'd like a bit more contrast between the light coloured hands and the darker face of the watch. Not a deal breaker - I know they are likely going for the subdued look. I like the style of the watch band but I'm on a "nothing from China if at all possible" kick so it will go for a similar style band of better quality. Looking forward to seeing how it performs.
👍👍
Do this watch have low charge indicator that the second hand ticks once every 2 seconds?
Yes
Just got mine and already regret not checking the weight before ordering. It's just too heavy and thick for me.
I can't find a Timex where the second hand actually falls in place. it's a shame, they are such neat watches.
It used to worry me too. Now, as long as it doesn't tick more or less than 60 times on it way around, im good with it😁 Cheers, and thanks for tuning in!!
How noisy is the ticking of the seconds hand? I have an old Timex and I can't wear it when I am sleeping is that noisy.
No ticking noise. Just picked up the blue faced one off of Amazon. Beautiful solar field watch
Does anyone know the lug to lug on the 41mm? Thanks!

Why the hell would Timex muddy the waters with a bunch of different variants of the same watch?
Because they sell their watches in Walmart and similar stores. Their customers are generally the blue collar working man and not the watch connoisseur. They want as many options and variations available on the market to win customers. They still have to compete for market share against Casio and multiple “off brand” Chinese garbage watches that are taking up shelf space in department stores. The average person buying a watch at this level wouldn’t know a Timex from a Chinese made “Merde”.
Does the second hand hit the markers?
Yes
Unfortunately......the 36mm lacks a date complication. Wish I could find a watch at 36-39 mm with date and all the things here ( Solar, 100M water resistance, screw down crown)....plus rotating bezel. With all the incredible watch variations out there in the marketplace....this combo which seems pretty obvious....can't be found. Love my Citizen Chandler BM-8108-03e as the current best compromise. Aside..... sapphire is SCRATCH resistant, but shatters more easily.....mineral glass scratches more easily but is more shatter-resistant. Solution?...mineral glass plus add protective-film clear cover. Invisible....works great.
They also have sapphire coated mineral crystals now from many micro brands that is another great option. Cheers, and thanks for tuning in!
@@OFD ...good deal....my point is that a watch that otherwise checks all boxes but has no sapphire should not be discounted. Swaps to sapphire after-purchase is possible....but so are these incredibly clear vinyl stick-on coverings. I buy a pack of 3 from Amazon for only a few dollars.....they last a long time...and if they get kludged-up a bit around the edges after a yar or two.....replace. The seller will cut these to the diameter you wish. Cheers.
Does the second hand hack on the solar?
Yes 👍
Those straps look cheap despite many liking them, and its said dont last long. Interesting they chose these greyish colors/lume is faint.
Hello, does this watch still work? I heard that it's solar technology is bad and would stop working after 2 months
Yes. Mine is running perfectly still? Never heard that. Maybe if it's not getting solar charge??
@@OFD that's great!
@@OFD I plan on buying one
Obviously It will stop if u never use it or charge with light lol
not a fan of the crown guard
I have had Timex in the past and something that always stood out was the LOUD ticking. As a solar Japan movement has this been addressed on this series of watch? I am currently considering the Freedive Ocean with solar Japan movement.
When green washing turns the watch green. Neat watch, but using recycled nylon and keeping one or two watch batteries out of landfill compared the impact of making the thing (in 3 countries no less) is like when your diet consists of not licking the ice-cream off the lid of the carton.
I understand. There is a lot of this confusion to the consumer these days 😐
You did not mention the "manual" - inside the left side of the packaging.......you did not bother to even look !
Timix dont have sponsar in onan
That is unfortunate!!
Do you reckon this watch could last a lifetime? Lol...
41mm watch with s 50mm lug to lug??? That's awful.
Does this watch allow the date to be adjusted individually?
Yes
it's sold out 😭😭😭
