    I got the 36 mm pvd version for 100$. That's a more handsome solar twin brother with a Hamilton khaki mechanical pvd. The only point on the cons side would be the second hand not hitting the indices but with a budget quartz you gotta be prepared it's gonna be that way. Of course the japanese solars have a newer and more expensive movements with a longer power reserve but it's still ( I think it has 2-3 months of PR when fully charged) more then enough to keep the watch constantly running. One day of the week use will prevent it from stopping or you can just put it in the sun for a day every few weeks. As I do with all my solars/ecodrives.

    That could be the perfect watch. It misses my favorite timex feature... the indiglo. Solar 41mm olive greed dial with sapphire crystal its eternal watch.

    I have been waiting for full reviews of this watch! Thank you for the dimensions and the preview. I am definitely looking forward to the full review. This is everything I want in a field watch, quartz, solar, sapphire, stainless steel case... I'm having difficulty choosing between the 36mm and 41mm version. I think I will spring for the 41mm because of the date complications and the crown guard. But my wrist is 6.75in so 41 is the largest I want to go. Thank you for the lug to lug dimension. Also, I love the green on yours but I personally prefer the ss color of the case so I'm going to get the blue face :)

    • @DD-ix3bm
      @DD-ix3bm 2 года назад

      The 41mm runs small or at least looks smaller on wrist than the dimensions make it look (I also have 6.75" wrists). Also the blue version is also in a sandblasted case, there's no SS. I know, because I own the blue 41mm version

    Just got it but it seems I must turn around the date day after day to get around. I tried the middle position to change date and doesn't work 🧐

  • @RobertNES816

    These seem to have a Miyota solar movement with only a 4 month power reserve, which is what Casio used to use in their MTPS120L-1AV feild watch. However Casio recently switched to a Seiko V158 movement which has an 8 month power reserve and a low battery indicator that makes the movement tick twice every other second when the battery is low. There was also a price increase from $70 to $84.

    I ordered the same, from Amazon, to my Hong Kong apartment. It’s EVERYTHING as you described, BUT; despite having it FULLY exposed, under the SUN, for over 12 hours, movement as DEAD AS DOOR NAIL. I tried everything, including adjusting the date, hour hand, giving a few hard shake…. NOTHING works!!!! I am about to return the whole darn thing, back to Amazon, and seek a full refund!!!

    • @OFD
      @OFD  Год назад +1

      If it's not running after you push in and screw down the crown, send it back. It should be running if it's had that much exposure to light.

    Timex is getting smacked upside the head by some independent watch companies. For example, Boldr or Vaer. Vaer (American owned) has specs and finishing that blow this out of the water like Amer Assembly, American Movement (or Swiss). Solar sound great, but in reality a good Swiss quartz movement lasts just as long. Solar watch batteries have to be replaced just like the others. I am glad to see Timex getting in the game though. I love my vintage Snoopy Weekender, but it really is low quality junk. Nice to see this price point also. Personally, it should be a lot thinner, have some design work on the case/polishing, give you a couple of straps to start with, and do a domed Sapphire (the Vaer domed Sapphire C3 and C5 look soooo much better. Timex has a hand-wound 38mm but when they do not tell you what movement, and you know it is Chinese? Also, you can find some pretty harsh reviews about those not working, or being horribly inaccurate. Good review.
    Also, I don't think the Timex Sapphire has AR? Does it? Can make a big difference with Sapphire outside.

      I've done a comparison video with Vaer and Timex. Have a couple videos up on Vaer watches. Bought one for my mom she wears daily 😎👍
