    **Important Note**
    I really enjoy watches and that's why I started this channel so I could review them regularly but my satisfaction is not found in owning or experiencing watches, no matter how many I may accumulate or how luxurious and expensive they may be . . .
    Wise King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 5:10 "He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity."
    The truth is, material possessions of any kind, money, power, etc. never can and never will satisfy our hungering souls. Only knowing, loving, and serving God can truly satisfy.
    The only way we can have a real relationship with God, the Creator of the Universe, is through the Lord Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God.
    "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
    Through Christ's sacrificial death on the cross, for my sins and your sins, and His resurrection from the dead we can have peace with God (Romans 5:1), forgiveness of sins (Acts 10:43), eternal life (John 3:16), and so much more!
    In Christ, we can know true joy now and for all eternity.
    "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." - 1 John 5:12

    Love that they’re building on the popularity of the budget Expedition Scout. Great to see Timex dabble back in mechanical movements. That hand wind movement has a Seagull look to it, but I’m no expert either! Great look to it, other than some of the handset short comings, like you mentioned. Hope you report back that the leather is decent after break in…Timex usually has pretty decent/comfortable leather.

    Good looking watch. Looks like a Hammy. Admittedly the revealing of the movement was a disappointment. That second hand should be longer but all in all, for the price it’s an incredible piece. Ironically I’m wearing a Waterbury while watching this.

    Great looking watch. I agree the second hand is a bit short. I think Timex reused the hands from the 36mm and just put it in the 38mm. The 41mm looks like it has the best proportions.

    A very attractive field watch. The hands are too short but I have other watches that have that same issue and it does not bother me. However, a hand wound Chinese movement (nicely decorated and finished but a solid case back negates all that), probably a cheap Seagull movement, is a deal breaker for me at that price. I have a Timex Expedition quartz field watch that I paid $34 on Amazon earlier this year and it is attractive also (but it does not feel sturdy or robust and isn't that the entire idea for a field watch?) My guess is this watch is all looks and not much in the way of long term durability. I hope I am wrong, but Timex seems to spend their $ on looks, not robustness these days.

    • @TheTownWatch

      It is an interesting movement choice for this watch. Thanks for watching!

    • @caomhan84
      @caomhan84 2 года назад +1

      There's a lot of opining from people who are judging the movement and not bothering to actually hold the watch in their hands. It's got heft. It's solid and sturdy. It surprised me when I opened the box because it's a far cry from their Marlin automatics...which are the thinnest stainless steel available, probably...very chintzy feeling and the movement rattles. NONE of that with this. As for the movement, I have several Marlin handwinds and they've all been fine after several years. Nothing has broken, and they keep good time. This watch has maybe gained 30 seconds in 4 days.
      Bottom line...if you want to hem and haw over the movement, then pay $100 more for the Hamilton grey market. This is an alternative to the Hamilton (which ironically fits my small wrist better than the Hamilton does). It's a good watch for the money. And since Timex has proven they can build this, I expect to see the prices for their Marlin automatics slashed...because they're a joke construction-wise.

  • @MrBacchus18

    I really love the clean look and the color of this Timex North watch, and it is mainly inspired by the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical and well done over all. This being said this Timex is much over priced, I paid my Hamilton Khaki Mechanical all Swiss Made with ETA Movement for the same price 3 years ago, and this is not acceptable at all. This Timex is more likely to be compared with chinese field watch copies that are well under 100$, it's like you are paying 2/3 of the price for the branding. I really love my Hamilton Khaki Mechanical, and I like the fact that it is hand wound because it is a classic WW2 icon reborn but for every day military tool watch it should be automatic unless you can feel the real quality of the movement inside.

      Maybe I am looking in the wrong place or comparing the wrong watches but I am failing to find a Hamilton Khaki mechanical for less than 350 to 450 USD. The Timex in this video is 229 USD. I would also point out that I highly doubt that any of the Chinese knock off watches under 100 USD are going to have real sapphire crystal, also ethical issues with buying Chinese knock offs. That being said I think the mechanical version of this watch is a far less value oriented than the solar version which comes in at 159 USD.

    • @VanderJam
      @VanderJam 2 года назад

      You're not going to get a made in the USA watch from Timex for this price range. @@desertsoldier41 yeah, having owned both the Hamilton and this, it's closer than people would like to admit (people who get their info from forums and RUclips, anyway). Movement-wise, Hamilton wins (I don't think anyone can really argue that). But this movement is fine. It's accurate and robust. Construction-wise, this wins. My wrist is also small and flat, and this fits better (Hamilton has tree branch lugs and a weird case shape that overhangs and fits oddly on me. Lume wise, Hamilton wins but it's also on the weak side. This watch also has 100m of water resistance and AR coating, which Hamilton doesn't offer. For $229, it's a darn good value. If people REALLY care about the movement, they can decide for themselves whether it's worth the extra $100-$200 for the Hamilton.

    improved. A Seagull. A respectable ebauche maker and watch manufacturer.
    But as with any mechanical watch, the big question is accuracy. In this case, I’m happy to report that the Field Post (and its 23-jewel Sea-Gull TY6DSK-1 movement) averaged just plus-6 seconds per day.
