The Tissot does not fit slender. It is a full size big boy watch. Both are very nice. Citizen is better movement, not that Tissot is bad but Citizen is better. I have Powermatic 80 Y to Tissot and it is very good.

The Tissot range looks like it’s taking on Seiko and Hamilton at the same time. Nicer in the leather strap. I wasn’t expecting to like the Citizen, but for eye catching visual appeal, it wins. Love the weighty crown guards, not too dissimilar to the bulky ones on a Panerai.
The video image quality is definitely noticeable, 5k well spent.

I'd gone to a Citizen boutique a couple of months ago and tried the Series 8 on. Stunning watch, but the important part is that the sales consultant said it was a La Joux-Perret movement. So if it's super similar to a Miyota 9k movement, it's probably that newfangled LJP caliber that's based on the Miyota 9k series. Hope that helps!

I’m not sure I totally agree with you about the powermatic 80 being ‘a much nicer movement’ than this Miyota 9xxx series movement Jody. The Silicium version does bring increased anti magnetism to the 80 hour power reserve party, but the lack of easy diy regulation is a big no-no. You need to be careful how you hand-wind them too, as being essentially a modded eta 2824 they can suffer with the dreaded spinnng rotor when you wind caused by worn reverser wheels. My own Tissot Pan Europ with the powermatic 80 developed just this issue within a year and had to be repaired under warranty. I think the higher beat Miyota 9xxx is more robust, much more easily regulated (especially this version with the screw micro adjust) and personally I find the rotor that only winds one way and free spins the other way a non issue, unlike yourself.

    • @JustOneMoreWatch

I have heard there are questions over a Powermatic 80 and servicing/repairs. I've seen some suggest that it's not as straight forward as a tried and true 2824 which any watchmaker can easily work on. If I had the choice i'd also rather less power reserve and a higher beat rate. My watches are often rotated and sit long enough that 40 or 80 hours makes no difference to me.

@@JustOneMoreWatch Yeah me too. I have a Miyota 8215 in my PD-1639 and compared to the NH35A in my Grand Diver, it's night and day. If the Seiko feels more refined, then the ETA should be night and day.

Hey there JOMW! I've been doing photography for a few years and one of the most cost-effective options I've found for macro shots are tube extensions that go between the camera and the lens. If you find a good one, it'll still let you control f-stop and retain autofocus, and this essentially makes old lenses that have no macro capability to being great macro lenses. Loving the new setup overall.

Nice video, Jody. They are both nice looking and nicely spec'ed watches, but I would definitely go for the Citizen. I think it's a much more interesting watch to look at, and if the movement is in fact a Miyota 9 series, high-beat (which it looks like it is by the hand sweep), I'm all in. I have found that all of the Miyota movements I've had experience with are excellent timekeepers. In fact, I have had multiple 8000 series movements that did not disappoint, like the Vario 1918. I have never had one fail on me, and all the one's I have (about 4) , have a consistent accuracy of about + 0 to 4 seconds a day. This is much better than all of my NH35's and my Tissot Powermatic 80, PRS-516 which runs at about 6 yo 8 seconds slow a day. Would love to see a timer graph study to compare both of these watches. Note, that I'm not saying that an Miyota movement is better than comparable ETA movement. I think a lot of the accuracy issues with auto's in general are dependent on the company, and how well they quality control the accuracy setting on a watch before it leaves the factory.

      Year later update:
I got the green gentleman for my wedding! And it's quickly become one of my favorite watches and is now a strong part of my daily rotation.
I loved it so much I got another one! The black dial with brown leather band for something more subtle. And I got quartz versions of the black with leather strap for my groomsmen, and they both wear them regularly!
I have large wrists so the fact that it's a bit chunky for it's size is a bonus for me!
The green dial is the real showpiece. In direct sunlight it just dances with color! But in more subdued lighting, it becomes much more subtle. If you were to catch it at an angle in low lighting, you would think it was black, which is great IMO. It stays under the radar until someone really gives it a good look, then it becomes so much more!
The movement is still spot on. It looses about 1 second per day. I couldn't be happier with that.
I was worried about daily scuffs and scrapes on the high polished links on the bracelet, but it actually gives it a really unique character. This one is definitely *mine* now :)
In summary: The Gentleman is an amazing GADA watch that I would recommend to literally ANYONE who wants a watch in that style. It's Well worth it on the leather too in my opinion :)

You have to search far and wide to find an automatic Citizen.
As for me, I just recently bought a Tissot Gentleman. One thing I haven't seen many reviewers notice is that SOME of the Gentlemen have an added dial feature, like the green you show here. Some of them have little crosshair markings between 12 and 6, and 3 and 9. It's a seemingly minor addition....but to my eye, adds a ton of visual interest. Worth seeking those out.

Jorde, you have the best watch channel on the tube. I love the fact you actually have the watches to review,, not just images. Keep the great work

I'd probably go with the CITIZEN just to be different, I might just get one as a casual/dress watch as I'm looking to retire the GRUEN precision that was left to me by my uncle several years ago.

Chose the Citizen for its smoother highbeat movement.

We got our dad a gentleman a few years back, he really likes, wears well and the high power reserve is great, when he decides to not wear it for a weekend.
I don’t like their butterfly clasp, or most butterfly clasp for that matter. Why don’t they just release a one with a 2-button clasp…
Im really torn on the citizen, would need to see it in person. The crownguards put me off at first but then I didn’t mind them…

  • @brinx8634
    @brinx8634 2 года назад

The 80 hr power reserve is great, but it is achieved by lowering the beat rate of a 2824 calibre. For that reason, I would go with a
hi-beat Myota in the well finished and attractive Citizen case. Swiss resale is definitely better though.
Thumbs up for the new camera and lighting...till now, I had no idea what a handsome gent you are!

I go Witz the citizen. I think, everything is in-house and therefore the price is good. But i would prefer the mother of Pearl version

Please do a full review of the tissot. I just bought the same model in the same colourway and it came last week. It‘s my most expensive watch to date and i love it 😍 i think it‘s a perfect watch for a person my age since I am 22 and it doesen‘t look to flashy but still great quality for the money. Keep up the great Vids love your channel since i got into Watches mid 2020. Greetings from Germany ✌️

Congrats on completing your studies! The new camera is great too! 👌

Of the two, I like the way the Citizen looks better, although I really want a Tissot and would probably look to see if they had a Tissot I liked better at about the same price. That said, I have a lot of Citizen watches and am very happy with them, I just recommended them to a friend and he bought the new version of a Citizen watch I bought used some years ago.

Prefer the Tissot. Owned a gentleman in black a few years ago. Great watch! I’m unclear as to why certain dials feature the cross hairs & others don’t though. Think all would look better without. Also, if the watch was a tad smaller (39mm) & also had option of an all brushed bracelet & at 20mm it would be 🔥

The new camera was well worth the money Jody. I would choose the Tissot although I notice it now has a sector dial, and kinda on the fence with that. It’s the crown guards on the Citizen that bug me, I mean why? Why? It’s not a dive watch and it makes any symmetry go out of the window. Quite happy with the SARB though so no need really for either really.

The picture quality of your new setup is great! It’s like a veil has been lifted 😁👍 I also prefer the Gentleman over the PRX, not really into integrated bracelet steel sports watches…with a few exceptions. This Citizen is really nice too!

I will take that Citizen please and thank you! Both brands are well represented in my collection. I’ve been screaming for citizen to use their own 9000 series movements more often. I think it tops though Tissot in the ‘looks’ department, and all around package, as well. Thanks Jody!

The Citizen movement is actually one of two new calibres, 0950 & 0951, positioned between the 0200 and 9***. Looking forward to getting the lattice with mother of Pearl dial version, with the 0950, into my collection. Looks neat in photos, absolutely mesmerising in life.

    • @JustOneMoreWatch
      @JustOneMoreWatch  2 года назад

Hey mate! I've seen it labelled the 0951 but the label on the watch calls it 9051. I suspect 9 series based regardless. If only I could crack the back....

I would still go for the PRX Powermatic 80 over these 2 options, for this price bracket. That blue faced PRX still puts a Big Smile on my face, every time I put it on.

I am not super interested in either watch, but what struck me (and it could be my imagination) is that the video does seem noticeably sharper!? I knew you got a new camera, but I figured I'd be loathe to tell the difference!

I really like them both. And I really like that Amazon does these buy on payment plans where you don't pay interest and without credit, can pay over 5 months. I almost bought one of these Tissot Gentlemen, bit have held off. I really like the Visodate. I currently am making payments on Amazon on a Canon RF 24-105 L lens. So congrats on your new setup. Yeah, I could tell right away the difference!

Congratulations on all the big changes in your life: new child, PhD, and best of all, new equipment! LOL. I don't know if your new camera does 4K, but in all honesty continuing to upload in 1080p is probably a better choice anyway. Of these, I'd have to select the Tissot with a quartz movement. I can't justify the price of the automatic Gentleman, and I don't go for the stop sign shape in a watch. Citizen offers a round version for 50% more cash. It must have a different movement as well.

I'll look at the titanium version of the Tissot in time (I have a titanium PR50 from last century) but have several higher grade Citizens so the green one doesn't tempt me.
