My first guitar age 14 was a Satellite les paul copy. It was horrendous but all I knew back then. The neck had been broken and glued back on by the previous owner and there was a screw in the middle of the 1st fret on the A string. Very difficult to play on. I assumed it was because I was just destined to not be very good. 35 years later, last year I started learning about guitar modding, soldering, set ups and put some effort into resurrecting it as it had not been used in over 30 years, and was broke/not working. New electronics, pots, knobs, tuners, bridge, switch and pick up covers, a proper set up of the neck, polish, new nut, truss rod adjustment. Now it plays better than it’s ever done in its life. Still has the screw in the first fret.

Nice job Austen. By the way I finished the Larrivee guitar. I managed to close 2 of the 3 cracks. The 3rd was loaded with CA glue. But the owners are happy, so I'm happy. They say they've a Gibson acoustic that was destroyed in a sibling fight.(Of course it was Dad's) But I'll give it a go, can't screw it up any worse.(I was told it was smashed against the skull of a sibling. Then being Irish doesn't surprise me they resorted to such chicanery. Of course my 2 great grandma is from Belfast. LMAO) Anyway I'll let you know the heinous details. Great video, Georgie Girl was especially naughty. LoL

@@LennonLuthierFinagler Not sure about FUN but it will be a challenge. Bought a bottle of Titebond 3 especially for the job. I hope there's not too many missing pieces. (Note the longer I live in New Jersey I'm understanding why my family left here in the 1790s. All it does is rain. LOL)

I used to have a black Satellite les Paul when I lived in Belfast, that brings back memories, thanks!

Georgie Girl is beautiful. I'm a Les Paul lovin' cat daddy myself and I also get THE CLAW when I'm working on guitars. I've got three here. Mine like to stand on the instrument and yell into my face. We go through a lot of bribe treats here.

Grew up in Belfast my mate had the exact guitar he got it from a catalogue for £60 😅 (weekly payments) 😅 I waited and a guy sold me a second hand black beauty style Shaftesbury Les Paul which I now wish I'd kept for sentimental reasons, it was waay superior to that satellite thing but as it goes you had to trade to move up which I did to an Ibanez Artist, a huge leap, think was 79/80 and the pattern continued on, but yeah those satellite things were garbage 😅
