I was carrying my 43x mos. I got the bodyguard 2.0 as a back up. Now I Carry the bodyguard 2.0 as my main carry. It is so comfortable to carry all day. I love it.

SootchOO, I’ve followed you for many years. Your reviews are always thorough and spot on! After listening to you and Hickok45 I bought the BG 2.0. After putting various ammo through it I’ve had zero issues except for the tight mags, and now they are much improved. “Long live our Republic”👍
I have about 2,000 rounds through my BG 2.0 and the only issue I had was the magazine jamming when using a Maglula (which is intended for 9mm-45 acp). I spoke with S&W about this and they advise to hand-load the first three rounds before using the Maglula. I now do this and I have no further issues with the magazines
The plastic tab on the bottom of the follower can sometimes snag on the hole for the mag catch. Snip the little tab off with some fingernail clippers and you shouldn’t have anymore loading problems.
@@BangBang-hk4rg Anytime I ever get a new magazine, I disassemble it, clean/lubricate it, then square the springs and sand/polish if there are rough surfaces or sharp edges. That has made a big difference when it comes to reliability of new guns. I also clean and lubricate the gun as well. Using CV-2 on the sliding parts (Rails, locking block, barrel lugs and barrel OD) can make almost any rough action smooth like glass... but I don't do that to new guns if they need to be broken in. It's such a good grease that it will stop a gun from being broken in if it's put on the gun before shooting it and breaking it in. Most guns don't need to be broken in, but some do, so it's good to make sure a gun is reliable before using the grease on it.
@@deucedeuce1572 theres definitely a difference between cheap mags and expensive ones -- my HK magazines are $$$ but compared to my experience with my other pistols, out of the box they are rock solid reliable and kick out of the magwell without a hitch.
Sootch commented on my only issue with .380: The guns chambered in .380 are usually so small that you can't get a good grip and after 100 rounds, it's beat up your hands.
I'm glad to see people getting into more casual type carry guns. Most of us are normal people who live in low crime areas. Lugging around a heavier gun gets old quick. I personally love my .32 snub for this role but micro .380s are a much better option than the micro 9mms because they are much lighter and much easier to shoot.
Yep, I have the Springfield 911 in .380 and it's super concealable, I do switch up once in a while and carry the Sig P365 in 9mm because it's the smallest 9 that I can comfortably pocket carry. Now I'm thinking of getting the Bodyguard because, 1) why not and 2) more rounds than the 911
S&W knocked this one out of the park. I’ve always been a big fan of .380 for deep concealment. It makes a whole lot of sense, but in this form factor it really shines
I just bought my wife one for when she goes out with our son, i ahot it at the range and loved it. Im a 9mm fan but iv never hated on the 380 ita a good rounds its basically a 9mm just less punching power.
My main issue with .380 isn't that it is inadequate (with the Hornady xtp 90gr projectile, it meets FBI specs), it's that it is so darn expensive! 9mm is significantly cheaper to practice with.
I am definitely going to check it out. One feature I really like is the take down lever. My Kahr 380 is difficult to field strip which translates to not cleaning as often as I should.
Really good nuanced review. I appreciate all the details you've provided, like how you use it, carry options, featureset, breakdown, problems etc. Well done
Shoots like no other .380 pistol I have fired. I put 200 rounds of fmj through it the day I bought it. And 200 more . Fiocchi 95gr and 90gr Speer gold dot to date. Flawless thus far
Excellent carry gun...the Sig P238 and especially the P238HD shoots smoother but lacks the capacity and IS heavier..I have all 3...the Bodyguard 2.0 is VERY nice!!!
@@kevinrichardson8859 I really hope they upgrade the P238 and P938 to take double stack mags without making the frame any larger. There's really not anything stopping them. I'm 100% certain it's possible. They would be excellent guns and I know many people that would buy one. I would really love to see a DA/SA version too. They just aren't enough DA/SA guns on the market, especially smaller one's.
@@deucedeuce1572I’m in the same boat. I want 1911 controls/trigger with a stack and a half mag. 10 rounds of 9mm in the 938 package, winner🏆 🎉. Unfortunately the S&W CSX attempted something like that but didn’t pull it off well.
Other S&W pistol mags have had similar problems. Take the spring and follower out to check they're in spec. Possible issue: the spring does not fully seat or lock into the follower. Binds up and not allow the last 1-2 rounds. Burrs and horns on the follower, or slightly out-of-spec. Can be sanded off so the spring fits together, and all run smoothly.
lightning fast draw and fast shot placement accuracy can overwhelm a threat, once in hand it locks into place, with 4 or more rounds a second its a mighty mouse taking a small pistol to a whole new level
Every reason you gave for carrying it, is the same reasoning I have. I have the non-safety, my wife has the safety version. Both have been 100%, no matter the ammo. The safety was a little difficult to manipulate at first, but just playing with it in an evening made it super easy. It’s both of our daily carry. I was carrying a Masada Slim 9 for a couple years, but this gun has earned it. 800+ through both of them, and they just work. I need to order more mags. Thanks for the video.
The Ruger LCP Max is a good gun, I just hate that the trigger guard is about the size of Kansas, it too damn wide. I truly believe that the Bodyguard 2.0 is a game changer, just like the P365 did years ago when it came onto the market.
Traded my S&W 642 airweight for this bodyguard 2.0 as my pocket carry option. It's a very nice little gun. Mine does have the same issue with the mag that you mentioned. Working on getting that fixed by working it as I shoot it.
I've been carrying the original Bodyguard for a few years now. But when the 2.0 came out, i was immediately sold. Just ordered mine today. Going to pass my orginal on to my youngest. I plan on running the Underwood Extreme Defense ammo in mine.
I'll probably pick one of these up after Christmas. I have the LCP Max. I handled one of these over the weekend at a local ffl. It's a little longer than the lcp max.
Great review and to say, because the trigger pull is only 3-4 lbs. this is best to carry hot only in a quality holster - which covers the trigger well. Likewise for the Glock 42 because of its same light trigger pull. We ordered the safety for ours, which works great but if it’s not easy to sweep with your thumb then you need to train and build up both thumb and hand strength plus some callous so it will work easily for you while bringing the gun towards the target. It is a bit stout.
I agree that solid monolithic bullets are the best ammo for 380 (along with Federal Hydra-Shok Deep JHP). However, the most convincing testing has been done with Underwood Xtreme Defender and Penetrator, not Norma. Also, were you aware that Wison Defense owns Lehigh Defense, which makes the bullets for Underwood, and that Massad Ayoob works for Wilson?
I would love to pack the new bodyguard but I have to stick with the LCP MAX because Washington St outlawed any new firearm magazines limited to only 10 rounds. I bought the LCP MAX before the ban and can legally carry 12 rounds.
I was at my local gun range, I was trying out a amt backup. I just finished shooting my Walther PPK. I was looking get another 380. The range master told me I shot a good group, then he said I want you to shoot this new body guard. Have me the guns 5 rounds, I shot a one hole at 3 yards. The gun has a full grip, it point so naturally, the sights are easy to pickup, and the trigger his very nice. Most pocket pistol, micro pistols have heavy trigger pulls. This trigger was very easy to shoot fast and accurate. I had to have it, I love my ppk for many reason but honestly that body guard 2.0 is a game changer.
Definitely agree. A great gun for those times you just can’t carry anything bigger. Still like my M&P 2.0 Compact Carry Comp. Be a great pairing the Bodyguard 2.0 and the M&P.
Nice weapon, I still carry my old S&W 40c.Hasn’t failed me yet. I wish I still had my old Beretta .380. Though at times, I carry my Beretta .32 for really discrete carry & at times don’t need all that weight.
I love my new bodyguard shoots great and is a dream to carry. Only negatives are magazines are super stiff more like 9+1 and bullet casings eject straight back right over your head not to the side. Vedder holsters makes an amazing pocket holster where you can get a full firing grip and their thumb tab pops the holster right off awesome way to carry everyday
I’ve got it I have a big hand and I love it. The solid copper serrated bullets that you recommended are excellent and my choice also. Can scenes and loading the last round or two certainly is a problem but you can pick up online a polymer slide over the top simple loader that works just perfect $12-$15 I don’t know why Smith and Wesson can’t drop that in the box probably cost him a dollar if even that. Let’s not put down Smith and Wesson we all have to take care of our babiesAnd get the right accessories. Put it in your wife’s hand and you’ll be buying two
Carried the Shield Plus 9mm prior to this. My favorite tool ever and I can comfortably carry at all times! Slip in my pocket with a sticky holster SM2. Weighs nothing a littler larger than my IPhone
Really like my Ruger security 380 also. 15 rounds of underwood’s h/p or their fluted rounds. I also still have several boxes of the old Triton quick-shok rounds .If you can check out tools and targets video on those underwood hollow points. Not the xtp rounds. Really great expansion and penetration.👍🇺🇸
Excellent review. With many small guns that are double stackers - and poly - the mag spring and often the slide spring are very stiff to make up for the lack of moving mass in a steel gun. Lightweight parts require more help to stay within timing tolerances or the whole thing doesn't work. The resistance you feel when inserting the mag is the top round bearing against the machined rib (raker) inside the slide. With the slide closed, it is in the way of the top round and keeps the mag from closing without force. You can see the brass trail on it when viewing the inside of the slide. Slapping the mag closed CAN deform that case which CAN make chambering that round impossible. As a re-loader, I have learned that lesson. I recommend just pushing the mag fully upward with the thumb until it clicks -in solidly. Just push the parts together. Your gun will thank you with reliable performance forever. Slapping the mag in is an old method that is not necessary. Sort of like a Hollywood myth, like snapping -in the cylinder on a revolver. Makes me cringe.
I can agree on the squeezing mag in place. When those mags are full there isn't much room to push that top round down anymore. I used to slam them in but one day just squeezed the mag into the slide, and it locks up firmly and no popping out. I do it to all my guns now.
I don’t know, it might be nice, but the shield plus has the same capacity with the short mag and it’s bigger yes but not that much bigger. The bodyguard is still a good choice.
I like my LCP MAX, even though these features (trapped take-down lever, low bore)are much appreciated. The P365 stays home more often, because the few less ounces and few less mm really make a difference in comfort during deep concealment .
Stick with your Shield Plus. The BG 2.0 is hard to shoot… not because of the recoil but because it’s so small and light that trigger control is so difficult.
Sootch , I must admit, this little firearm with some quality Underwood or Lehigh ammo has become a firearm I feel safe carrying. Mine is in an Alabama pocket holster and I have over 380 rounds thru it with 1 light strike. That's it. So I love and trust it.
The G9 external hollowpoint is similar to the round you’re showing in this video but even more so watch some videos on it it is a very deadly 380 ACP round it’s pretty barrier blind great penetration and large one cavity. I’ve been carrying it in 380 for years
How would this compare to the original Beretta Nano that you reviewed many years ago? I find the Nano to be the ideal carry option even all these years later.
What appeals: super discreet, .380, sights, 12-rounds, grip. What I’m not so keen on: would like more than 12 rounds, striker fired, barrel length, prefer “decocker” to safety. Since I’m not needing super discreet carry, I’m inclined to move up to shield ez, though hidden hammer doesn’t appeal. Cheetah 80x compact, Bersa TPR9C are more in my sweet spot. More difficult to conceal, but that’s not an issue. Some small 9mm options come to mind too. I like .380 for its less-lethal quality. If I use my gun in self defense, I want the bad guy to goto jail not the morgue. Jokes are one thing. And it’s not me being nice; I don’t want the weight of taking a life on my shoulders. I’m mentally prepared for the concept, but, I’ll sleep better if the perp survives the experience. If circumstances require it, a .380 can provide lethal force. I appreciate that everyone has different needs.
The Norma round I had some of those and the bullets, yes the bullets, broke across the bullet at the casing neck, a cross-sectional bullet break, unbelievable.
I have the LCP MAX. It shoots low, as apparently, it does for everyone. It needs a thumb safety option. It makes a loud TWANG just like a 1950s era cap pistol, every time you pull the trigger. I'll be moving to the S&W.
@@JonFox-t5x Thanks. I would try your advice but the S&W is here and the LCP MAX was gone the day after. The S&W hits to point of aim and is so ergonomic (except for a bit of slide bite that is barely noticeable) that I can bounce small targets all around the burm, one-handed almost as fast as two-handed, all day. If I end up regretting getting rid of the Ruger enough to buy another, I'll definitely try the felt idea... however, felt + dirt + spring, combined, kinda sounds like an "oh-shitt" moment in the middle of a fight!! ;-)
@ I’m glad you traded for the S&W bodyguard 2.0. Much better than the Max. I am going to get one for my wife too. I carry a full size gun and only carry a pocket gun when I have to.
I did too, and love the 2.0! My G42 was a bit funky, I had to pull the slide back twice in order to eject the round in the chamber, without the magazine in it.
I carried a Sig P230 for many years in the early 90's, and own so many .380's even now. But nowadays, with 9mm's being the same size, I'm not sure why people would carry a .380 the size of many 9mm's. Recoil sensitive?
I really like how this handles. Only put 50 rds through it so far, but it feels great in the hand and even more so on the hip. I am not a fan of the trigger safety though.. It feels a bit sticky, like it catches as I squeeze. It's almost to the point I would prefer a manual safety if it deleted the trigger safety. Especially since that trigger lever is so broad that I feel like it will catch anything that snags the trigger except for the extreme top of it. All in all I still feel like this will be my primary carry.
I REALLY LIKE BERETTA 84-BB. or the 80X Cheata DA/SA Super accurate 13+1 380 not to small but smaller than the G-19 , yet still fits xl hand good . Scootch has a great videos on both and a great 380 video options with five different options for carry ❤. If scootch like it then you can be assured its good.
The Smith and Wesson magazines are notorious for being hard to load. Finally found the fix! The followers have flat ridges on the top and the spring catches on those ridges preventing the spring from being able to compress all the way. Take the the magazine apart and trim down/bevel the flat spots so that the spring will naturally slide down past those points and the problem goes away. My experience is with the 10, 13, and 15 round mags for my Shield Plus 9mm (my daily carry). Thanks for another great review!
i still have my lcp max but it stays in the drawer now lol sw bg 2.0 is my deep concealment carry now at my 9 to 5 an i use underwood +p defender ammo works great love it
Another excellent review. My casual EDC around town these days is my little Sig P238 SAS and I love it although I do think it’s a bit snappy 😅 to shoot. Still I love its small size and convenience. I have as you mentioned numerous handgun options but mostly 9mm and larger. I recently replaced my 9mm pocket carry, which was a little Sig P938 Legion, with a S&W CSX. Yeah I know but I like it what can I say? I also have a little P365 SAS I sometimes use in that 9mm pocket carry rotation, but my concern with it is there’s no safety and I like the 1911 manual of arms and used to often carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II 45ACP which was a real favorite. With winter coming along I’ll carry it sometimes as well. Bottom line I’m just not gonna be able to resist picking up a much lighter and higher capacity .380 option. I’ll still need to look at my favorite gun store but at this point I’m fully sold. With winter coming I’ll have time to watch prices until spring 😁. Thanks again I love your reviews and more than once I can tell if I’m gonna like a particular pistol based on your reviews. I especially like your details about the weight and hot to field-strip. Anything, happy trails.
Because I spent hundreds of dollars on it, I am really, really trying to like my LCP Max, but fk I hate it! Gotta pick up this BG 2.0. As far as ammo, I see a lot of ballistic tests showing how well Underwood’s JHP is doing. I had a trigger guard with small tether sewn into my Fanny pack and front pockets, so when I pull the pistol out, the guard releases itself from gun. Good video, sir!
I have yet to find a more durable finish as the Armorite from S&W. My shield shows very little holster wear and never a spot of corrosion or signs of freckling.
@@kevinrichardson8859 A couple of years I believe. It's an older one.I was planning to trade for the Sheild Plus but they made a lowball offer which I kind of expected.I kept it because it's a very good carry piece and is tip top shape.
Great review sootch00! I was wondering if I carried two of these, one on my ankle & one in a pocket or 945 Industries fanny pack (small:) it would be less magazine changes as well and/or could hand one or both to my wife for her/our protection, if SHTF:) I live in a BIG city and carry is a big deal . I take the bus for work, attend gatherings w/ kids around as well as in the public often. That being said being in Ca. the Sig P938 is relevant and a 9mm.
To disassemble mine, you have to lock the slide back and push down the ejector prior to moving the slide forward (per manual). No trigger pull required. My brothers model works like the video, just pull the trigger after riding the slide forward. Why is this?
I like flat nose bullets they hit hard and drive deep. In revolvers I carry wadcutters driven at 800 fps +. Are these flatness bullets similar to 40S&W FMJs? If so they are likely to feed well and penetrate well too.
I bought one of these as a pocket carry several weeks ago. The spare 12 round magazines are hard to get. They are also hard to load as they are a double stack mad that are quite loose in the UpLULA (and don't fit in the baby lula). My mags need that tap to seat them too.
For myself, a dedicated Pocket gun enthusiast for many years, I would love to have one except for one thing. I do not want just a light trigger. Not even 4lbs?
great if you want a .380 with no grip and 10 rounds .The 43xmos offers better sights/optic ,15+1,and a grip i can get my last 2 fingers on . I own a lot of S&W , Springfield,FN, Glock , Kimber,Rugers,Cz,Taurus,NAA,Colt,Hecklers, and some off the wall Sears and Robuck .,yea the 2.0 beats a kel Tek or the ruger .My personal preference is the 43xmos for a small pocket pistol. I carry a S&W performance center in .45 ACP. Or a S&W 686 .have never had a problem carrying either and I'm not a big guy 5 11 200,Buy what you want .I am not endorsed by S&W nor did they send me a pop gun to review .
All Smith stack and a half mags are tight as hell at first, like you said they loosen up after a few loadings, I'm currently waiting on mine to arrive at my ffl I look forward to adding it to my shield plus and g48 clone rotation
Reaching out here for some insight. I have a M&P 2.0 3.6” (which shares mags with my Smith and Wesson FPC). I also have a Shield Plus 3.1”. I’m contemplating getting one of these Bodyguards, but I’d have to sell one of my currents to get it (sort of a deal with my wife-2 handguns only). I’ve yet to shoot the Bodyguard, but based on what I’ve said so far, which one would you dump? Or would you just stick with what I already have?
Great review. I have the BG2, LCP Max, and the Sig 365 380. I think the Sig shoots the best out of all 3 but it's also the heaviest. Ruger is very snappy. Very pleased with the BG2. It's my EDC too.
I'd try one just to see how it shoots. The LCP Max is fine for what it is. My biggest complaint about the Max is it shoots low. A laser sight solved that problem. The 12 round mags give plenty of purchase on the grip. A trigger and spring kit made mine very shootable. It's still a 380... S&W Shield Plus in 9mm is the perfect CCW.
Good and your left channel audio still isn't working. Wouldn’t something like a tlr6 fit on it? Aloo, have you had problems with the follower jamming in the mag slots on the 12 round mags? Some already trimmed the bottom corner off the follower to keep it from hanging up in those mag slots
I love Smith & Wesson guns. I think that their semi-automatics are better than Glocks. I know others that have the S&W BG & it is a very good & dependable weapon. Myself, I've been CCW my S&W Model 29 for over 25 years and have never tired of it, I'm proficient in handling it, able to handle the recoil, have a good side & shoulder holster for it, I can conceal it very well, and it saved my life once. I chose it for the stopping power & dependability (never froze on me like semi's have). I have the 4 and 6 1/2 barrel, & alternate carrying them. My sister is a Colt fan, and carries a snake gun which is, I have to admit a very good revolver. Also you cant beat S&W lifetime warranty (only if you are original owner) and calling them, I've had great help with their staff. Anyways, my whole point is, no matter if it is a semi or revolver S&W has your back.
You can also get this w/ the safety. Mine has it and with training, shouldnt be an issue. My USPSA guns have safeties anyways to this matches my other guns. You can also literally put it in your pocket with the safety on, if needed.
If I need to pocket carry, I love it. My only gripes are the mags and rear sight. Not that it's a long distance gun, but the notch on the rear sight could be smaller. A lot of folks gripe about hitting left. My first couple mags I did that. The magazines themself are a lot more difficult to fully load than anything else I've ever owned. I thought they would lighten up, but even after a few hundred rounds, no such luck!
M&P mags have stiff springs that don't get weak. I love that. I had my Shield mags loaded for years and they don't get limp. Ever. That means reliable feeding every time. Use a Maglula loader to help get them full.
Hello S00tch! Gr8 review. I heard you mention it has a tritium front sight but in the LCP Max comparison it did not. Does it now come with tritium or have you upgraded it yourself?
You're the first one to acknowledge difficult slide raking. My wife bought this model and she can hardly rack the slide. Even I find it extremely hard. I have 5 other semi-autos and none are as tough as this gun. Not a good issue as she likes all the other properties of the gun.
You might try leaving the slide locked for a day or so to break in the spring a little quicker. My wife is pretty tiny and in her fifties. She over hands it and pushes with her strong hand at the same time. She thinks it’s easier than the P365. The serrations are far better.
I wrote S&W off forever over a Shield Plus with a 12 round magazine that would only hold 10 rounds and a trigger safety never worked, it just laid flat in the trigger shoe, seems the issues with S&W still persist, glad I switched to Glock!
I started carrying this or a Kel-Tec P32 for my EDC (pocket carry) in warmer weather. I just try to think of it like I'm essentially unarmed but have a last ditch "rescue". I'm not interested in trying to be a hero and get into a shootout with bad guys.
does yours print to the left like EVERY one i have seen on youtube does? doesn't matter if its a lefthanded or righthanded shooter. always prints left.
While I do prefer a J Frame my original design LCP gets most of the carry time, especially during warm weather. Think I’ll rent the Bodyguard 2.0 to see how I like it.
I like when you shoot one hand, you know well. I got a mix of Shield plus CO2 bb pistol, the grip is awesome, it fits perfect to my palm. I'm a fan of compact pistols. Don't laugh, i do standing both hands at 7 yards 1 1/2 inch groups with a hard double action trigger. Greetings from Barcelona, Long Live the Republic.
I have the 2.0, I carry it daily. Love it! I also have an Sig P365, and a Taurus GX4. Truth is, the Taurus GX4 is a much better shooter than the Sig for a better price.
When I first saw a Sig P365 in person, it was love at first sight. But we immediately broke up when I tried the trigger. Trigger preferences are highly subjective, of course, but for me it was a complete deal breaker. It's amazing how people have different trigger preferences. My son loves the P365 trigger and hates the BG 2.0. I'm the polar opposite; to me, the BG 2.0 has one of the best factory striker fired pistol triggers I've ever tried. Interesting what you said about the Taurus. I'll have to see if the local range has one for rent. I'd love to try it. Have you had any reliability issues with it?
It's funny how different firearms 'fit' different people. My Sig P365 in 9mm is the most accurate shooting pocket pistol I've had, at least for me. I do want to try this BG though, deeper concealment with great capacity.
I was carrying my 43x mos. I got the bodyguard 2.0 as a back up. Now I Carry the bodyguard 2.0 as my main carry. It is so comfortable to carry all day. I love it.
This is very interesting. I wonder how much they run. Because I'm looking for a different one to carry. That's not as big as my nine
does it shoot as well as your 43x at distances say 25 or 50 yards?
How are you carrying? Got a holster recommendation for it?

What range ammo are you using?
I have about 2,000 rounds through my BG 2.0 and the only issue I had was the magazine jamming when using a Maglula (which is intended for 9mm-45 acp). I spoke with S&W about this and they advise to hand-load the first three rounds before using the Maglula. I now do this and I have no further issues with the magazines
I had the same experience. Surprised more have not commented on this
The plastic tab on the bottom of the follower can sometimes snag on the hole for the mag catch.

I buy all of my practice ammo from Freedom munitions. Their 380 is cheaper than 9mm right now. Give them a try
That’s why i reload it. I’m paying 6 to 7 dollars a box
I am definitely going to check it out. One feature I really like is the take down lever. My Kahr 380 is difficult to field strip which translates to not cleaning as often as I should.
You Sir produce the best firearm videos period. Thank you.
Similar to the shield plus, unparalleled lack of recoil for the size of gun/caliber
@deucedeuce1572 I agree...I'd be the 1st in line to buy a P238HD double stack...Sig are you listening?
Amazing little gun. It is now my daily carry.
lightning fast draw and fast shot placement accuracy can overwhelm a threat, once in hand it locks into place, with 4 or more rounds a second its a mighty mouse taking a small pistol to a whole new level
@@libra7624 I 💯 agree.
As soon as it is on the CA roster, I am sold, for my CCW. Also, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us.
Ca roster?
Every reason you gave for carrying it, is the same reasoning I have. I have the non-safety, my wife has the safety version. Both have been 100%, no matter the ammo. The safety was a little difficult to manipulate at first, but just playing with it in an evening made it super easy. It’s both of our daily carry. I was carrying a Masada Slim 9 for a couple years, but this gun has earned it. 800+ through both of them, and they just work. I need to order more mags. Thanks for the video.
My S&W Bodyguard 2.0 is my EDC and in my pocket wherever I go. So comfortable I sometimes forget to remove it when I’m home
Been watching you for years. Glad to see your still working.
Good info as always.
Cancer sucks, ask me how I know.
God Bless.
The Ruger LCP Max is a good gun, I just hate that the trigger guard is about the size of Kansas, it too damn wide. I truly believe that the Bodyguard 2.0 is a game changer, just like the P365 did years ago when it came onto the market.
As usual, this was a great review 🎉 I got the BG 2.0 a few weeks ago and love it 👍 Zero problems 😁🙏
Thanks Johnnie! Glad you're liking it.
Traded my S&W 642 airweight for this bodyguard 2.0 as my pocket carry option. It's a very nice little gun. Mine does have the same issue with the mag that you mentioned. Working on getting that fixed by working it as I shoot it.
Make sure to carry open everywhere.
I've been carrying the original Bodyguard for a few years now. But when the 2.0 came out, i was immediately sold. Just ordered mine today. Going to pass my orginal on to my youngest. I plan on running the Underwood Extreme Defense ammo in mine.
First day at the range with my BG 2.0 - 200 rounds, no issues at all. Shot much better than my LCP max. I carry the BG 2.0 every day.
I'll probably pick one of these up after Christmas. I have the LCP Max. I handled one of these over the weekend at a local ffl. It's a little longer than the lcp max.
I really like my 2.0. Very confident with it. Enjoyable to practice with.
Very good information; thank you for sharing this information with us.
I would love to pack the new bodyguard but I have to stick with the LCP MAX because Washington St outlawed any new firearm magazines limited to only 10 rounds. I bought the LCP MAX before the ban and can legally carry 12 rounds.
I pick mine up today! Can't wait
Which one specifically? Thanks for the answer.
Must have a big ole bussy if you can't fit 10. All that gym work for nothing
How does this compare to the Ruger Security 380? The Ruger has a 15 round mag or a 10 round mag. It looks good. Thanks for the review.
I love and carry my shield plus a lot to but big difference it the weight and the shield it quite sturdy and got some weight to it
I prefer a Bersa Thunder 380 plus, what do you think about it?
Stick with your Shield Plus. The BG 2.0 is hard to shoot… not because of the recoil but because it’s so small and light that trigger control is so difficult.
Good to know. Thank you!
Sootch , I must admit, this little firearm with some quality Underwood or Lehigh ammo has become a firearm I feel safe carrying. Mine is in an Alabama pocket holster and I have over 380 rounds thru it with 1 light strike. That's it. So I love and trust it.
Yup, for .380 it's Underwood and never not Underwood! =)
Same here! Several hundred rounds with one light strike, and it was with some monarch fmj, so I’m not worried haha
Loadings with the Hornady 90gr XTP meet FBI specs (barely, but that's enough) and will not over-penetrate. I highly recommend looking into it.
Its crazy how a gun that small can actually be fun to shoot and accurate.
I packed a small piece of felt into the middle of my hammer spring and now it’s quiet as a mouse.
I traded in a Glock 42 on mine, loving it! Very comfortable gun to shoot and it's amazing the shot capacity in such a small size.
How does the bodyguard 2.0 stack up size wise to the shield?
I would love to see S&W release a .22LR version of the Bodyguard 2.0 Would make a great kit gun for the pocket or tacklebox...
I still carry a Jframe from time to time, this might be another option to add in
640 Smith for me.
I stick with the Max because of hammer fire versus stricker for pocket carry... Protect your junk!
Get the version with thumb safety, can't shoot your "junk" unless you do it on purpose.
I mean it has a trigger safety, always use a holster and you’ll never shoot your junk off.
What ammo are you using in your video Sootch? It has a nice muzzle blast
i still have my lcp max but it stays in the drawer now lol sw bg 2.0 is my deep concealment carry now at my 9 to 5 an i use underwood +p defender ammo works great love it
Another excellent review.
Word! My LCP Max is my least favorite gun to shoot.
For ammo, Underwood is great, but not the JHP. The Xtreme Defender 90gr. is the one, along with Federal Hydra-Shok Deep 99 gr.
LOL I agree. A lot of firepower in a tiny package but man it sucks to shoot it.
I have yet to find a more durable finish as the Armorite from S&W. My shield shows very little holster wear and never a spot of corrosion or signs of freckling.
Glock gen 5 finish is great too, very wear resistant, at least slide wise
How long have you had your shield??
“Push down, man up, and get it in there!” 😂
Kinda rough huh bro?,lol
Id like to see how this compares to the p365 380 version
To disassemble mine, you have to lock the slide back and push down the ejector prior to moving the slide forward (per manual). No trigger pull required. My brothers model works like the video, just pull the trigger after riding the slide forward. Why is this?
380 solid bullets function and penetrate best. If shots are put into the sternum the 380 will be adequate.
100 grain flat nose fmj are very effective!!
Cry and don't get one then?
How's it compared to the S&W EZ 380? It looks smaller but carries more. That's better and improved.
I think you where ever the first RUclipsr I started watching about shtf I was 11 or 12 I’m now 24
I just ordered the Shield plus 30 super carry to be my carry gun. The body gaurd 2.0 is on my list of things to try too
I thought about the 30 super carry, but got the bodyguard on 2.0
@@toddoglesby9849I got both 😊
The 30 super carry can fit 14 rounds in the 13 round flush mag plus one in the chamber lol 15 rounds is insane… got a few videos up mag dumping it
great if you want a .380 with no grip and 10 rounds .The 43xmos offers better sights/optic ,15+1,and a grip i can get my last 2 fingers on .
Better get into reloading, that 30SC might even beat .357sig in the vanishing game.
Excellent video on the 2.0 Bodyguard! Listening to the rain drops on this video, very relaxing! Hope you and family are well and safe! 👍
How you holding up with the hurricane Don? Wishing you and the family well
What's the difference between this and the original SW Bodyguard with the laser?
That's what I have and I love it!
bettet capacity, trigger, accuracy, and generally speaking it’s better looking and fits your hand better due to the lower bore axis
Thinking of waiting till next year so they can work out any bugs along with the price coming down a bit
380 is a great round. I carry it more in the summer when a micro-9 is obvious with a T shirt and shorts.
talon grips slide tape makes racking the slide really easy.
I hope they come out with new version that has red dot made for it. Would be PERFECT!
Hello S00tch! Gr8 review. I heard you mention it has a tritium front sight but in the LCP Max comparison it did not. Does it now come with tritium or have you upgraded it yourself?
he does not read these comments
You're the first one to acknowledge difficult slide raking. My wife bought this model and she can hardly rack the slide. Even I find it extremely hard. I have 5 other semi-autos and none are as tough as this gun. Not a good issue as she likes all the other properties of the gun.
I left the slide locked back for a few days and it made the slide a bit easier to rack.
You might try leaving the slide locked for a day or so to break in the spring a little quicker. My wife is pretty tiny and in her fifties. She over hands it and pushes with her strong hand at the same time. She thinks it’s easier than the P365. The serrations are far better.
It is difficult to slide but gets easier after break in of about 200 rounds. Same with the mags. Easier after several loads.
You will LOVE the bodyguard 2.0
5.11has a great conceal carry pouch. Made specifically for concealed carry.
I just bought one today and it's amazing!!! Got it for 400 at Buds in Gatlinburg
Great Video! What do you think of this pistol compared to the Bersa BP9CC or BP380CC? It is also very thing, and can carry 8+1 9mm or 380acp.
When are going to do a LC Carbine 10mm review?
I bought a Barsony pancake holster 6-position for mine and it works well for a ballistics material holster.
Love my gx4!
Cheers from Brazil, Taurus is a company from my country.
It's funny how different firearms 'fit' different people. My Sig P365 in 9mm is the most accurate shooting pocket pistol I've had, at least for me. I do want to try this BG though, deeper concealment with great capacity.
@@floorpizza8074 no sir. No reliability issues
Aside from the capacity how do you compare with a standard LCP
