      S&W had Guntubers out to their range back last fall. I think Ruger realized they needed to sell as many LCP Max units as they could before the release of the Bodyguard so they created the 75th Anniversary Edition that sells at a lower cost but also includes stainless steel slide that won't rust like many of their black oxide slides have done and includes a metal trigger rather than plastic trigger that many complain pinches their fingers due to sharp edges. This version of the LCP Max has been posted on Gundeals subreddit many times. Many bought it this year and now are trading it in on the Bodyguard 2.0. Many wish they has not bought the 75th Edition and waited for the Bodyguard 2.0. One person traded in his LCP Max for just 150 for a Bodyguard. His was version with the black oxide finish. They are going to be a lot of used LCP Max handguns for sale in gun stores and pawn shops.

    I just bought one…softest shooting pistol I’ve ever fired. This is the personification of CCW perfection IMHO. Just doesn’t get any better than this.
    When Ruger came out with the Max, I was hoping that S&W would do something with the Bodyguard. I knew if they ever did, they’d sell millions of them. The LCP Max is a great firearm, but honestly the rattle and the boingy sound when you pull the trigger make it feel like a cheap toy. The bore axis is soooo low on the Bodyguard 2.0. S&W nailed it…was worth the wait.

    • @raykettel1837
      @raykettel1837 22 дня назад +1

      The rattle of my LCP Max does not bother me. What bothers me is the muzzle snap and pinching of the trigger finger by the sharp edges of the trigger and trigger guard. A sharp knife or file can remove the sharp edge to reduce pinching. The black oxide coating on the barrel and some slide can easily rust. I also do not like the trigger pull. One experienced shooter pulled it and then looked at me wonder why it did not fire. I replied pull the trigger back harder and farther. Another experienced shooter said it kicks like a mule.

I would recommend waiting until they have a holiday sale where the price may be 20% off. I got mine a couple of weeks ago and promptly put 250 round thru it at the range in Greensboro. I was surprised at how small it really is, but I like it. My hands are big too, I usually wear XL size gloves and my purchase on it with either magazine is still very good. I guess the grip geometry and my hands mate well. I particularly like the stipple on the frame just behind the muzzle about an inch on either side of the body and my fingers naturally find those to grab onto. I had plenty of misfires but I had bought a new die set and had the crimping die set wrong. When I fired commercial ammo it fed flawlessly and I'm carrying it now with Hornady Critical Defense. The magazines were indeed stiff when first loaded but I expect them to loosen up over time. You will need a loader assist if you plan on filling the magazines to start off. It was easy to take down and clean, but it is picky about being reassembled. I had to lift the barrel slightly to get the spring rod to fit back on the barrel. I'm very happy with it, it's 1lb 2oz with 10+1 and that blows my mind. I'm 70 and not a fitness geek so that savings of over a pound makes this something I won't mind carrying anywhere. I bought a Lighttuck from Vedder and like how I can adjust the carry height and the canter and it's very concealed when it's at my 4 o'clock position. Hearing that our friend Hickok45 bought one for himself confirms my evaluation and I'm more than happy to carry this pistol in lieu of leaving my 9mm in the safe at home. Those of you complaining about the cost of ammo, invest a few dollars and learn how to load your own. Those 250 rounds I fired 2 weeks ago cost me less than $70 and I don't skimp on brass, ammo, powder or primers. If you want to start on a budget try the Lee hand loader kits, they actually do work or go visit your local gun shop, you may be surprised to see what you might find used there. You don't need all the fancy gear to get into reloading and if you can afford the $400 for a new pistol you can surely afford a few hundred dollars to get started in reloading. Watch a few RUclips videos and you'll be on your way. Thanks Hockok45 for all the great reviews and your wisdom, my brother and I have been following you for years and look forward to many more to come. Cheers !

      Thank you for the details. I plan to replace my LCP Max with a Bodyguard 2.0 for summer pocket carry. For defensive ammo in a short barreled 380 many recommend Underwood Extreme Defender ammo. HP bullets do not expand reliably in any short barrels 380. See testing on ShootingTheBul410 YT channel. For training ammo I have been buying copper plated ammo with new cases from LAX/Freedom Munitions for under 24 CPR with free delivery over $200 or $250. I did have some issues with their past 9mm ammo but not the 380 ammo. I test it as soon as I get it and got a full refund on a box of 50 rounds that were out of spec--would not chamber fully in any of my 9mm barrels and would not allow a gun to go into battery.
      Comparing the Bodyguard to the LCP Max at Handgunhero website one can see the Bodyguard has a lower bore axis and much more aggressive undercut for trigger guard which provides more grip length to get one's pinky finger on the grip.

Aside from flicking it up and down about 500 times while watching a movie, I took a small screw driver to precisely locate safety lever right on top of the peak of the little spring S&W has there to limit its movement. I found that by leaving the lever on the ‘hump’ of the spring over a few nights loosened up the tension so that I can now easily operate the safety up and down. It’s just right for me now.

    I am absolutely in love with mine. I originally bought the OG Bodyguard for my wife. But I kept stealing it to throw in a pair of shorts when I go to the store. When this came out I bought one immediately. As far as .380 goes, I've always thought of it as a fire and run away gun. Gets me back to my truck gun or out of danger. I now only carry Underwoods in it now after seeing the ballistic testing out of a tiny handgun. Def recommend that when carrying .380 if you're worried about under penetration.
    Edit: I will say there have been reports, including mine, the front sights were off center from factory.

    Saw one, and bought one. Due to nerve damage in both hands, I do have to carry 380 sometimes instead of 9mm. I'm an old guy and choose to be armed at all times and this one shoots better for me than the LCP Max though I still have it too. I load it with Underwood Extreme Defender rounds. Racking it is harder than the LCP Max but will ease up with enough rounds through it. I even got a Glock 25 which is Glock 19 size firing 380. I like having a 380 version of a couple of my 9mm as they shoot about the same so when I need to carry a 380 it feels like the 9mm version. I can train longer with 380 loads too. Got it the day after I called my LGS. They get guns for me fast and others as well I'm sure. Great guys there who are patient with an old guy browsing and asking questions.

    S&W did some magic here. I carry the Kahr CT380 specifically for its trigger and size. In all dimensions the S&W meets or beats the Kahr except width, but only loses in width by 0.13". To carry 3 additional rounds (Kahr 7+1, S&W 10+1), fitting it into nearly the same package and actually a few tenths of an ounce less in weight....astounding. If it's a great shooter too, that thing is bound to be a hit. With ammo by Underwood (XTreme Defender), the 380 too weak argument is over. That ammo acts like a standard pressure 9mm JHP, but has the benefit of acting like an FMJ if it hits a solid surface. I have no personal need for 9mm with this ammo on the market for my CCW, so the bodyguard could bring the benefit of more ammo and similar size and weight. I'm impressed.

      @@Jeffkeebz75 my only concern is the trigger. I carry Kahr because I love how that trigger feels, plus its long pull provides me a safety against myself if I ever encounter a situation where I'm under duress and must use. Short triggers with easy breaks just make me nervous for those times where I can't even think about what I'm doing, where it has to be almost robotic and fast. I can practice all I want, but I'll never practice enough to feel comfortable if my CCW has a short pull, and even worse if its pull is too light. I haven't seen what the trigger break is on this one yet.

    It's a great piece. At 10 ounces, I often forget it's in my pocket. I use the Sticky SM-2 & Alabama pocket holsters. They are both good. The gun sticks out 1/2 inch in the Sticky. If you want it fully holstered, then I'd try the SM-5. Sticky is best in the car, but I'd roll Alabama for walking around.
    I had one jam with a hollowpoint round. I read that it works best with round-tipped bullets. Something about how the rounds are fed, square tipped can potentially snag.
    It doesnt matter what the ammo type, though. Its so accurate that all rounds will be blowing up the bad guys chest.
    The safety is stiff. Its harder to put on than off. It has gotten better with use, though. I have no concerns about flipping it off in an emergency. However, my hands are big and the safety is so small. If the threat level was high, then I'd prefer going with if off.
