    • @itsaboutTime2revolt
      @itsaboutTime2revolt 2 года назад +5

      @@Chef_Gringo Yeah, we could have drafted him. But who's to say Russ, would have been the Russ we know today if drafted by the Broncos. We have a stellar track record of failing to develope talent. Same as if Denver drafted Josh Allen, or Dak...they very well could be a busts. Denver hasn't had a drafted QB do well for them...in like... never.
      But back to Russ: He would have had to sit behind Manning for 4 years. Then hopefully he would have contributed as much as Brock did in 2015, or we wouldn't have even won that Superbowl (Brock was vital to that championship!) And then Russ might've bolted to the highest bidder that off-season...just like Brock.
      But shit... we might have won SB 48 too, if Russ wasn't playing for the Hawks. Lol. Who knows.

    • @Chef_Gringo
      @Chef_Gringo 2 года назад +2

      @@itsaboutTime2revolt I don't know why but I had been begging and pleading for them to get him rather than Brock. He looked incredible at NC state. He then also looked just as good in a broncos pro-style offense with huge lineman at Wisconsin. He would have been the absolute PERFECT pick to keep the ball rolling after Manning. Yes he would have sat behind Manning but for probably only 2 years imo. Russ just had the IT factor. But he was short. That was the dumbest, most cop out statement of someone with his talent. I honestly think it would have been russ vs Brady multiple times before Brady went to Tampa.

    • @itsaboutTime2revolt
      @itsaboutTime2revolt 2 года назад +1

      @@Chef_Gringo I agree he would have probably been good in Denver's system eventually (hopefully now is eventually!!), and I agree he had the it factor. I think he still does, and I'm so stoked Denver got him. He has one down, but still above average, season last year... because of an injury he played through... and so many people seem to have forgotten how dominant he really is. Can't wait for him to light it up next year!!
      But saying he only would have sat two years behind Manning, is crazy. Manning threw for FIFTY FIVE TOUCHDOWNS, nearly 5,500yds, and won the NFL MVP in his second year in Denver!! Absolutely no way Russ takes over the following year. He would have sat the full 4years behind Manning, regardless of how good he was. Only thing different, and I doubt it, is he might never have returned to the bench after Manning got injured. But again, I think out of respect alone Manning still returns for the playoffs that year.

At the time, as you mentioned, we already had Cody Fajardo and Issac Harker as 1 and 2, with Mason Fine having just been signed at the end of 2020. Then all of a sudden the Riders signed both Lynch and Tom Flacco. It was a bit of a head scratcher moment as we already had a good QB core, so why we needed 5 QB's in the off-season didn't make sense. And then to do nothing with either Flacco or Lynch just seemed really weird.
