    This man taught me everything I know about baiting. Years of hands on instruction from on how to bait, when to bait, and what to bait for has been immensely helpful. I even bait for my friends and family, heck I’ll even bait for guys I run into out in the woods. Nothing feels better than a good successful bait, so I’ll do it as often and frequent as I can. If you need some help and advice, this guys videos are so helpful, he is definitely a master.

    Awesome advice and great video. Nice to see a video that applies to all regions and habitats in the US. Too many people make videos that only apply to their home range.

      Well not all regions cause we can't bait at all in Maine. Can't even move natural apples 30 ft closer to your stand. Can set in the apple tree but can't move the apples.

    Thank you for the video. A hunter can never learn enough. Have you considered a deer feeder or a Protein feeder in the off season. Primarily about 3 months before opening day and once you have harvest your deer for the season or when the season over put out the protein and corn feeders to help your deer survive the winter. Also, only throw corn in the morning right before dawn. When you have time read a theory called “Pablo’s Dog” . It’s about conditioning behavior. Also consider making a spot for minerals. I used BLACK MAGIC DEER ATTRACTANT. The deer love this stuff. Also if you can set up a spin cast feeder during the off season add some Com’er Deer attractant if legal in your state. You should consider baiting on the edge of the wood line Vs on the cedars in the center of your hunting area. I think a big Mature buck May follow a doe to the woods edge Vs walking across the field to the center unless it’s the RUT.
    If you can get a mower in your area about 2 weeks before opening day, mow it short as possible. Deer love new growth. Maybe even throw down some WHITETAIL INSTITUTE NO PLOW SEEDS. But put it along the woods edge.
    I hunt in Texas.
    PS I also enjoy watching Whitetail Habitat Solutions by Jeff Stergess. I like his hunting tips but all the planting is too expensive for me.
    Keep it going….

    Where I’m from baiting is illegal but that being said to me it’s no different than someone spending 3-4 gs making awesome food plot. Or someone hunting over a small corn field. It’s zero difference. Anyways I bait deer and no matter how I do it or when I start which is usually mid June, bucks don’t even show up until the 1st or second week of October. So I’m basically just feeding does until then lol I don’t bow hunt either and stop feeding deer a week or 2 before rifle season. Killed a nice 14 point doing it like that a couple years ago.

    I live in Northwest Indiana. Pretty close to Lake Michigan. We don't have any of the big parcels of land here. I've been hunting this area most of my 52 years and the biggest piece of property I've hunted is about 40-50 acres. I've never had to use bait. I just got my own property and I got lucky that it butts up against a deer reduction zone that is 16 acres. It's a travel corridor between a bedding area and 2 ag fields. Their whole home area is probably a mile and a half to two square miles. And it's only me and the owner of the land that hunt it. In Indiana, we have to remove any bait from a hunting area 10 days before we can hunt the area, so baiting really doesn't help too much anyway.

      That sounds like an awesome parcel to have access to hunt on! I'm in Texas where baiting is legal for whitetails all season. I definitely have found that baiting is not a sure fire strategy or even necessary in most situations. Especially in low pressure, high density areas. Thanks for commenting!

    Be careful as baiting is illegal in most states. The best way is to put out food plots, like clover. I am very successful each year with this process . Got eight deer in Virginia last year off of plots of clover and winter rye.

      I fully expect every person who watches this to know the laws for their state/county. I agree with you on food plots but many of the locations I hunt don't allow for it due to landowner permission, laws or inaccessible. But absolutely plant a plot if possible!

    Once big bucks figure out bait is hunted its over. Never set up to hunt right after feeding. When you feed, only feed and leave, and dont hunt anywhere on the property until deer are conditioned to the feeding. When the time comes to kill the big buck it helps to have a friend feed for you while you are already set up well before hand waiting. Pick the perfect wind and weather pattern, you may only have one chance

    • @homerangehuntsmen1298
      @homerangehuntsmen1298  Год назад

      Not necessarily. As long as they are coming through to simply check for bait, that is good enough. I bring it in just often enough to maintain a consistent flow of motion without over pressuring. That will obviously vary depending on location, and size of the herd.

      The methods I am demonstrating in this video are lawful and within the boundaries of fair chase. I would agree with you if this was a show of shooting deer over bait piles from a hundred plus yards away from a box blind. If you disagree with my practice here, I'll gladly hear your position!

    Get produce thats discarded by the produce man at your local grocery store and get him or her to save all fruits and veggies they throw out because of a lil bruise etc. And the bucks will come from miles to eat that PRODUCE BUFFET ... I've killed alot big bucks on produce piles !

    baiting in any form, lawful or not, is killing not hunting. i am a hunter. live in west , millions of acres public land. baiting is illegal both federal and private. different culture, i guess

    • @homerangehuntsmen1298
      @homerangehuntsmen1298  Год назад +2

      Wish i could say the same but where im at there is very little public land and only unaffordable large leases. I am a hunter as well, using different methods doesn't diminish that. If you watch this video, you will hear my position more clearly on how I have stopped using bait except for one location. Definitely prefer not to.

      You must have never ever once in our life bought meat at a store because that's not hunting either. Some of us are just trying to fill the freezer, it's not a sport it's just our survival. But have fun on your millions of acres you can ride your high horse through.
