One bummer I keep running into is that searching "CPC-A" on various sites brings up listings that say "No CPC-A"! It's really disheartening, but I'll keep pushing along. Thank you for your tips!!
What about searching "medical coding entry level"? Maybe that would bring up more targeted options.

This was very helpful, thank you. I was a coder 25+ years ago, before being certified was the standard. Now, after raising two daughters and working many other jobs, I have returned to what I was good at and enjoyed. I will be taking my CPC exam soon, but some of it is not what I remember! And I am nervous there won't be a job for a coder with experience from so long ago.
As long as you pass the CPC exam, that will be your key! It will demonstrate you have current proficency!

I have been working for a medical billing company for 4 yrs now (communicate with coders daily so have some knowledge) and taking my AAPC courses currently for my CPC. I’m hoping that I’m able to get a job right after because I read in a lot of job postings that coding experience is required 😩.

Does dealing with the US Marshalls count as "High Stress Expirience" at my current job? Lol. They are a PITA. Especially when we are already short staffed, and they call and expect things done ASAP.

I have no medical experience. I was told it's good to get experience at your local hospital. Is that true? Would you recommend it? I have a recommendation to get this fall. It's before I get my certification. I am supposed to take the exam at the end of November 2021.

I’m a medical billing and coding student. Would I be able to get a remote job right out of school? I have a baby and have no one to watch her and with covid I don’t want to take her to daycare.
You need childcare.
Tanya is correct, the majority of employers will require your children to be at school/daycare or babysat. I've even heard of employers that will do a "drop in" where they ask you to come on camera so they can make sure you are in compliance with the regulations they have for home offices such as in a private space. And finding a remote job right out of school can be difficult. I understand this may not be the response you are looking for, but it's important to be honest about the expectations. While there are some employers that will permit children at home, and there are those that find remote jobs right away, it is a minority of medical coders. If you're willing to work with the possibility that there may be a struggle to find a position that fits your need, then accept that and work like hell towards it.

No mistakes at all but as far as jobs, there's no guarantee of that with anything really. Just keep studying and working towards that certification. :)
