Thankfully I ordered my Jeffsy last year and I am fired up for this season! My bike is in top order. With that said I like these too. That color scheme on that Capra is just gorgeous though.
The Jeffsy is a "quiver killer" bike, like most of the mid-travel 29ers like the Ibis Ripmo, Specialized Stumpy Evo and Giant Trance X. I've never ridden a Jeffsy, but I own a Ripmo and have demoed the Stumpy Evo and the Ripmo sits in a weird place, it feels like a trail bike on the climb and an absolute weapon on a tech climb, on flow trails it is fairly playful but is also very stable in the air, on the rough stuff the Ripmo feels like a full on enduro bike and is way faster through tech than you would expect a 147/160 bike to be, The Evo on the other hand, feels like a playful trail bike on everything, except climbs where it has the usual pronounced pedal bob that Stumpys have been known for for ages.
i was lucky enough to check my email 2 weeks ago and surprisingly i got a notification for the jeffsy core2 in stock and was able to purchase one. i mustve been a little late since it said "ship latest may 16". i'm just glad i was able to secure one before my size sold out the next day. i'm super excited as this is my first legit mtb. thank you for these videos.
I completely agree that an Enduro bike is over-biked for me. I ride daily and try not to miss more than 3-5 days a month. Most of the rides are my local backyard trails that require a 2000ft climb. Yes some trails have some sections of chunky rock gardens but honestly that’s a small percentage. The bottom line is,it sounds appealing to have a sweet 150-160mm travel rig but for me I would really need to search and find trails that utilizes that much travel. Maybe if I was going to bike parks and hitting jumps or railing the steep knar I would think that I was getting my money’s worth from an Enduro rig.
Meet two, just turned 60 and still rocking my 25-year-old hardtail, hard everything, 1996 Specialized Rockhopper trying to figure out the YT I should buy.
When having two mountain bikes became an option for me, I decided to go with an moderately aggressive 29er trail bike (2020 Niner RIP 9 RDO upgraded to DHX2 Coil and 160mm airshaft up front) and a playful, yet fairly slack 27.5 hardtail (2020 Whyte 905). Awesome combo for the type of riding I do in the PNW, although I do not hit lift assisted parks much. If I did, I'd maybe want a third bike. Well, 4th if you count my existing gravel bike. lol.
Hard to believe that 150mm is a happy trail bike. So great to see the options and advances in the past few years. YT has done some great work on their brand and bike options.
Hey I know these bike are a little different now but I am split between these bikes. I’m just scared that I might get the Capra and it doesn’t pedal uphill at all and I’m scared that I’ll get the jeffsy and it won’t be enough to take to Snow Summit and Mammoth. So my question is does the Capra struggle on longer pedal days like 10 miles or more but then some days I’ll walk my bike and do some of the gnarlist trails down here in SD with guys on 170-180 mm enduro bikes with my 140 mm lol 😂 very great video but still split.
Yeah I hear you. I mean you do have to choose a priority. I’ve ridden the Capra on climbs and it’s ok, just not as pedal centric as the Jeffsy. If I had to choose I like the Capra because you’ll always have enough bike and great at the parks. But if you prioritize trail days the Jeffsy is a better fit.
Spot on advice, choose the bike for the job. I have a Capra and where I live has limited trails, I kinda wish I got the jeffsy so I'm not so over biked but the short sections of super jank and jump sections the Capra shines.
I'd be really interested to see a comparison between a Jeffsy and a Ripmo as the two are very close in specs and intended use. As a Ripmo owner I know the Ibis has a lot of that enduro bike stability, but still has the nimble handling of a trail bike.
Im still hunting (covid supply) stuck on wheel size though. not sure if I should get 27.5 or 29, hitting all the same places you and Alan do. (Im in Torrance, PV will be my go to a lot during the week) I'm still debating YT Jeffsy Base and Trek Fuel ex 5 for my upgrade from HT.
If i was 20 again and living on a ski resort the capra for sure. My Jeffsy Al is totally fine for me, and the new ones come with better and burlier forks and shocks so they should be great. At a 100kg I don´t feel the need for the extra travel or stiffness on the frame and the fork of the Capra, total overkill for the kind of riding I do. Anyway, both bikes look awesome.
Awesome man! Waiting on my Slash and planned on doing a similar comparison video. I remember when I first started riding and had no idea which type of bike I should choose. Awesome content🤘🏻

Awesome and informative brother!! Thank you for putting this together. I think it would be the Jeffsy for me if I had to choose just one based on what I mostly ride.
Nice comparison. Thank you. Riding a Capra AL COMP 2017 and still loving it. 🤘 For simple tours and light trails I use my hardtail for all the other stuff I ride the goat 🐐
Love the look of both bikes, yt always do their best to make a rad bike, and the track looks fantastic, great video, both bikes have a purpose. By the way I've rode and owned a capra and it will go anywhere including hills, no problem!
I love my enduro nuckproof mega I say if ur a guy over 5 10 and over 200 lbs the bigger bike will always be best if u pedal local and ride parks great video
Awesome vid. I'm surprised Sky Park isn't buried in snow. Maybe it is now after all the rain this week. I just order a Core 4 Jeffsy. Can't wait to get it.
Thank you for the review, both look great. I own a 150mm F&R 2016 650B Lapierre AM Zesty "tail bike".(Great bike!) So I think Enduro will be my next jump, and have both bikes.
What size of bikes You ride (Jeffsy, Capra and overall)? The Jeffsy looks so tiny under You in the last Instagram video. :) Thanks for the comparison, coming from a Capra, waiting for the Jeffsy Blaze... still a month to go here in Europe.
Now you just need a DH bike for the Trifecta! I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two bikes. Just noticed they both have Thrasher Stickers too! Mad Props Broseph!
sweet vid! what would you say for a little bit of a heavier rider? would the Jeffsy still be enough bike, or would weight come in to play in which type of bike to get? I'm all about trail riding as i also live in the OC area and still don't have my full squish yet, but I'm in the market and starting to shop. should I go with a bike that has more travel because of weight, or should that not be a factor? I know losing weight is a great option and I'm working on that...slowly! haha Cheers, Tony!

How does jeffsy handle all the rocky and high copresion teerains because i am lenaing more tawords the jeffsy because, capra seems like a realy heavy bike and for now, i like lighter and more playful bikes?
nice comparison, I think I would love the Jefsy here in the Canadian Rockies , what about size for a 6' rider ? from what I hear I should have an xl ...
Great video. Don’t know if you ever road the older Capra?? 27.5 170mm front 165mm rear. 13.5 kg. Light great travel. I’m guessing the jeffsy would be a closer match as I want to replace it and have to ride to the top off every hill? Apart from my two times a year bike park holiday? So confused there both great bikes just don’t know??? I’m from a DH back ground
Say I wanted to launch down stairs or ledges like 5-6' high. Some street riding basically. Is the jeffsy enough or do I need the Enduro Capra. I'm new to mountain bikes coming from bmx background. Road a lot of Street and dirt jumps and will be doing so on my next mountain bike. I'm not doing the huge jumps like the down hill guys. Thanks!
Seems like the Jeffsy is more Jeffsy-ish, while the Capra appears to be more Capra-like. J/k nice review! Capra is "Like a horse" - the word Capra reminds me of like capricorn, a goat actually
losing weight off you is definitely the cheaper option that will typically give better results, unless you're already some fitness god with 0% body fat. Heavier bike also helps lose weight off you because it takes more watts to climb on it.
I lost like 19 pounds since last November. I find that actually my biking balance has improved since losing weight. Like downhills seem less wobbly and sketchy. Weird, maybe the weight distribution was like all over the place, fat hanging off the sides or something lol. Climbs are easier too now a bit.
Dude I loved the video! And it totally confirmed my choice… I won’t see it until November but I ordered a new 27.5” Jeffsy Core 2 after struggling a little to choose between that and the 27.5” Capra AL. And I’m keeping my hard tail, how could I not keep my hard tail?!?
A YT is a YT. They are bikes, they are good, they are YTs. The YT is a good bike. YT is good. I don't know what else to say, so I'm going to continue to repeat the same point over and over again, for the sake of improving the argument that people should buy one.
Great channel, great review - I'm 6" so at the very top end of a size L. I'm going to be placing an order for Jeffsy and have to be told to size up meaning I'd be going for the XL. Any advice on the Jeffsy sizing?
Good choice! Well, I'm 5'9 on a large. You might be right at the tip of the XL size I think, but I'm not 100 on that. Maybe give them a call at the HQ. Tell them hello from me. 😉
You need to try the Capra Blaze. Honestly the majority of the difference is fox vs rockshox. After a long journey, starting out with a capra pro race on fox, my capra now has a zeb and a super deluxe and it’s nirvana. The fox stuff just sags too much and drains the life out of the capra platform. Trust me on this, capra blaze is shangri la. Ill never own a fox product again.
So basically what your saying is... you couldn’t figure out how to set up the fox suspension so therefore it’s terrible and rockshox is great?! YeA..... ok... they are both awesome when set up right.
@@mathewmccabe7175 nope not saying that at all. I know fox people want to believe that. I’ve had the 38, 2 versions of the 36 and the zeb. On the back, had the X2, the dpx2 and even the push 11.6. Ive had it set up by professionals, tuned it myself over countless hours, used shockwiz, you name it. I can 100% say that the zeb with super deluxe is objectively superior to any other suspension platform. I have the 11.6 for sale if you’d like to buy it.
The main thing I've heard with Grip 2 forks is you generally need to adjust them for the specific terrain you're riding, they are not set and forget like RockShox or DVO. The DVO Onyx SC I'm currently riding is the most set and forget fork I've ever ridden, doesn't matter what I'm riding, I literally never have to touch the dials it just works on everything once set to recommended settings for your weight.
@@mrvwbug4423 my fork was properly set up and adjusted for the terrain and obsessed over. It’s not the fork setup, fox is just not as good end of story. Fox bros always try to claim it just wasnt set up correctly. Fox worship is basically a cult at this point.
@@kene8571 I’ve had a bunch of bikes with rock Shox and a bunch of bikes with fox. They have both performed wonderfully when set up correctly. I wonder how Richie rude rides so well on such inferior product. All I’ve stated is both work well. You are the one that sounds like they have been drinking koolaide lol. Bottom line though, I’m glad you are stoked on your suspension. And I do have an 11 6 coming for my pivot switchblade, otherwise I would maybe take you up on your offer. Happy trails.
You probably get asked a lot but do you have an idea of when yt will restock on the more “affordable” bikes they’re all great bikes tbh. I was listening to a podcast on Spotify recently where some dude is speaking to owner of Santa Cruz I think, and they said that the lead time on bike parts for bikes is until 2022!!!! 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️ anyways great content Tony.
@@TheOutsiderMTB I wanna see you try it, my friend was 2nd in junior downhill in europe using it, and this yeah he might not get it bc he needs the new model wich is not out yet
Coming from an outdated 10’ stumpjumper...ride mostly in south OC; Sounds like Jeffsy is the bike to get 👀 would it be accurate to say the Capra/Jeffsy you tested are probably both more efficient climbers than my 26” stumpy, though? Lol. Also...how does the frame size compare between these and a stumpy? I’m borderline L/XL at 6’0 because I’m lanky as hell and have long arms/legs short torso 😂
Thanks for riding with me and answering my questions!
Any time!
Both sound great!! Too bad they’re impossible to get right now

@@TheOutsiderMTB Where are these trails????
Wow Idol yoour 2bikes is so amazing.I hope I had a bike like yours.😊
I hope so too!
Idol do you have your old bike parts.Coz i want to upgrade my mtb bike.😊
I sold my
Previous bike.
Aaah Thank you Idol.😊
Is this an older video or one made recently? Are trails at Skypark only partially open?
This was made last week. 👍
Haha good stuff Josh!
What yt bike would you get with a budget of 3,000 that can handle big jumps
Maybe the Capra base?
A YT is a YT. They are bikes, they are good, they are YTs. The YT is a good bike. YT is good. I don't know what else to say, so I'm going to continue to repeat the same point over and over again, for the sake of improving the argument that people should buy one.
👊
Dope video Both are dope bikes . AMA Question.why did u change up ur outsider logo ?
Ama question, favorite trail you have ever ridden in SoCal?
Rad new look Tony!
Thanks!
I've got my answer. Thank you
✔️
Yo! Great video, but what are y'all's thoughts on the IZZO Core 3???
Thanks - I have a full video about the Izzo in the library.
Dude, I am 6 foot 1inch tall and weigh 190lbs. I bought a XL Jeffsy last year and the fit is fine. They honestly run a tad small.
XL for sure !
Hey tony what’s the best beginner bike park in SoCal? Keep up the great videos!!👍🏼💪🏻
Skypark.
Fast forward 2024 - Capra core 2 sale $2799 or Jeffsey sale $2799. Bigger savings is on the capra..
Which bike?
Love my capra!
I don't know anything for sure sorry. I was told this year though.
what about the tues? are you thinking about tryining it maybe?
Yup - Gonna give it a go for sure.
@@TheOutsiderMTB I wanna see you try it, my friend was 2nd in junior downhill in europe using it, and this yeah he might not get it bc he needs the new model wich is not out yet
How did you like mammoth? Besides the crash, would you take another visit?
For sure. Mammoth is huge. Good yikes and loose.
Just curious on the different head tube angles / rakes of both bikes ?
I'd give the site a look. Full spec details there.
Did you try the Propain Tyee?
I've never ridden that one - sorry.
I've never had a stumpy but I'm on a large at 5'9.
The Capra, that finish though.
💥
Great review! It’s helping me make a decision between the two…😎🤙🏻
Thanks Don!
What park is that look so fun..
Skypark ✔️
Were you riding the 29er or 27.5 Jeffsy???
29
What grips do you prefer?
I like Deathgrips.
