- After much searching I finally tracked down this song.
I used to love this as a kid, despite never really being that into country music.
From what I gather, the Buzzin' Cousins were a one-off supergroup consisting of John Mellencamp, Dwight Yoakam, John Prine, Joe Ely, and James McMurtry.
They only recorded this one song, for the soundtrack to Mellencamp's film Falling From Grace.
The guy who had this uploaded had his account terminated, and the only other one on youtube has the ending cut off, so I figured I should put it up myself.
R.I.P. John Prine
Mellencamp should really get this one out there on Spotify and/or a physical CD release of rarities.
Just found this, wow!
Doesn't get any better than this. Great song. This song is from John Mellencamp's, 1992 Falling from Grace movie. One of my fav movies. If you listen real close in the roller skating scene, this song is playing in the background. The ones who saw the movie will know what I'm talking about.
RIP John Prine. I just wanted to say good night.
Thank you for loading this....all of John Prine's songs should be known forever.
RIP John Prine
Did John Prine write this one?
Dwight Yoakam is the greatest of all time-he has no equal. Dwight is flat out awesome. Just awesome.
Nah! Tie between John Prine and James McMurtry!
This is one of my all time favorite songs! Their voices blend seemlessly! Dwight Yokum's vocals at the end are incredible!
I agree Jim. I read this from you like 3 weeks ago when I first heard it. You say and said it perfectly. Thanks
Thanks for posting! This song was on KGSR in Austin for a bit of time and I'd never heard it again until I saw it here. All those guy's music is the soundtrack to my late 20's and beyond. Unforgettable.
now that is what I call a songwriters super group.
they should do a full project cd.
Superb. It's like another type of Traveling Wilbury's we didn't know about and they sounded so good.
Thank you for finding, and sharing, this. I have always been a Cougar/Mellencamp fan ... came across John Prine later and love him ... Yoakam wasn't always my first choice, but I didn't hate him ... and I heard a song about a rooster a year, or so, ago and became a Joe Ely fan, so this is fucking astonishing! I cannot believe that these five guys collaborated and it didn't become the greatest thing the world had ever seen. Or heard. Or both.
I’ve never heard this song before. I love it and know they are singing to me! 🙌🏻❤️
I’m Suzanne by the way.. I love how their voices are so great together. Where can I find this song to save?
I'm sorry...but they are singing to me :) I'm also a Suzanne :)
I don't know how I have never heard this song. Huge DY fan...seen him in concert more times than I can count. And John Cougar was my second concert ever...in the 80s. Had his poster on my wall! Never knew they sang together! And about me!!! :) :) @@purecountry1953
What a lineup of musicians.
65 and have been a fan of all of these greats ,most since the early 70s and this is the first time hearing this by them .. A new favorite here in 2018..
The movie was so so but the soundtrack was pure gold, I've still got the CD somewhere...
Always been a Prine fan (since 1975 anyway). But very glad to catch this one. Thanks!
Rest well John P.... :(
Love to hear dwight sing this song,
Look how young they were!
Thank You for Posting This . . . Great Collaboration. . #MusicIsLife

Prine just posted a link to this on his Facebook page!
RIP JP
Joe Ely, James McMurtry, John Prine, John Mellencamp,,Dwight Yokham
Thanks for posting. Hadn't heard this in years, so I played it several times.
First heard this on the local country station in about 1992. Too bad the Buzzin' Cousins didn't make a whole LP.
I bought Falling From Grace DVD and CD. Love this tune. Voices are so crisp.
Speaking of John Prine... search for Steve Goodman's album "Somebody Else's Problems" and you will see on the cover Jimmy Buffet (credited as Marvin Gardens) and John Prine, next to Jimmy. The photo was taken by a photographer in Chicago, in a loft I later worked in.
thanks for re doing this. great track.
Thank you so much for sharing. Love .Love. Love.

I dig these dudes.
It was from a Mellencamp movie, the only time these guys performed together... Mellencamp, Dwight Yokum, Joe Ely, John Prine,
James is da Man
@@Lukeutube1 James McMurtry is one of the those unsung heroes that people do not know about because he was not promoted on the radio.
Thank you!
Now, Right now,
Look at the place I` m in,
When i think about things that i could have done
It´s impossible for me tp pretend.
But i see it now as the lights grow dim
and the world starts to close its eyes.
i just wanted to say goodnight,
Sweet Suzanne.
I hear the music playin`
but i no longer understand,
Around the corner, down the street
I´ts got to be better than where i am.
I see it all now, as the light grows dim
And the world starts to close its eyes.
I just wanted to say goodnight,
Sweet Suzanne.
I just wanted to say goodnight,
Just wanted to see if everything was all right,
Just wanted to say goodnight,
Sweet Suzanne.
Time goes by
Oh, so quietly,
Hazy days and memories
And in the end there was only me.
Wouldn`t have been, i ask sometimes,
But i see myself inside this rhyme.
Enjoyed what i had back then,
Would i do it again?
Well, I see it now
As the lights grow dim
I just wanted to say goodnight,
Sweet Suzanne.
I just wanted to say goodnight,
I just wanted to see if everything`s all right
Just wanted to say goodnight,
Sweet Suzanne.
I just wanted to say goodnight,
I just wanted to see if everything` s all right,
I just wanted to say goodnight,
Sweet Suzanne.
Nowhere can I find in these comments or the text above who wrote it.
This is NOT country ! This is GOOD music.

John Mellencamp wrote this song
This song makes me want to have an ill fated romance with a woman named Suzanne who i do not realize is the love of my life until I had driven her away and spend every night listening this song and thinking of her
Really?? Youre a di ck. Suzanne
Who knows I may be your Suzanne 🤷🏼♀️ 😏
