  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport is more of a tall wagon than a bare chested burly SUV but how does do off-road when the going gets muddy and snowy in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Nathan recently found out in this2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport Colorado off-road review.

I have the 2017 Disco Sport HSE Lux and I love it. No issues. Recently changed breaks. Living in New England USA I did put better tires for snow and trails as I’m skiing somewhere all winter. It’s not Jeep Wrangler but is super comfy and gets me where I need to be in most conditions.

Sounds great. I can relate to “it’s not a keep wrangler”. I had a wrangler and it was fun but I feel like it’s a second or 3rd car. The disco can be a primary car that meets it in the middle

Just remember to call it by it’s full name. Discovery Sport. It’s not a Discovery they are a totally different larger vehicle. The Sport moniker is not a sub-model like titanium or limited it’s actually part of the name. A Discovery Sport is new line of vehicles.

testing a pre-production vehicle and giving it a hard time with turbo, transmission lag and xmradio issues isn't totally fair. Which is to say, You still gave it a 'Buy' recommendation. That's good enough for me!! Merci

Third row seats optional is nice. One thing I don't like about current day suvs and crossovers is they stuff a third row seat where the sun don't shine instead of making it optional. True you can fold some down or take them out but I like the option to have or not have them.

This is a terrific review but it is not the Discovery, it's the Discovery Sport, the replacement for the Freelander (LR2). The new Discovery (LR4) comes out next year. The new 2 litre Diesel engine is also available later this year (hopefully also in the U.S.), the first to come from LRs new engine plant. We will replace the wife's Freelander with one of these but not until that engine is available. For hard LR off-roading suggest you go for the LR 4 or await the new Disco. Have subscribed.

Ok, i have owned a 3 door discovery, disocovery 2, 3 and 4, this vehicle is a discovery, i test drove one and i really want the wife to have one, i drove one off road, and on road and in 240bhp twin turbo diesel configuration i think it will be able to do the pulling of a twin axle horse box along the steep rutted farm track we have plus it looks and feels better than the new cherokee, as landroverphotoalbum said it is easily worthy of the disco name

I will be the first to admit that this a really good looking truck. The problem is the reliability. I would love to put this truck on my shopping list next time I am in the market but as a long term trouble free Toyota owner, I just can't put my head around purchasing vehicle that is pretty much guaranteed to end up at the dealership multiple times for repairs and probably expensive ones at that.

    • @lrcb40
      @lrcb40 9 лет назад +2

+GTAYLOR1972 How can reliability be a problem, when it's only just been released? It's built on the (basically) same platform as the Evoque/LR2 and they haven't had many issues. If you equate Disco 1, 2, P38 RR issues, you're confusing totally different machines, build techniques and so on.

As always, good review. However, no one is going to even get these vehicles muddy.
Besides maybe a Wrangler, what current US sales SUV or truck is there that is BASIC, capable off road (preferably comes with at least a rear locker) and is actually able to be financed. I'm not doing rock crawling or hardcore off roading, but the places I go to camp, shoot or go dirt biking often require a good 4X4. My 4X2 Frontier has gotten stuck several times over the years and I want to upgrade, however everything I look at is plastered with leather and gizmos I'll never use. I wish Toyota made an affordable Land Cruiser....

Get a TJ Rubicon Wrangler, they were built from 2003-2006. Reliable, easy to work on by yourself, strong aftermarket to make it your own, and it has factory lockers. Need storage? Get the LJ or Unlimited Rubicon that was made from 2005-06 or if you want just an LJ those were made from 2004-2006. Lots of cargo room especially if you remove the rear seats, also a more comfortable ride than a shorter wheelbase wrangler. No luxury just basic things you need from a jeep. Im not bashing 4Runners either but its just another suggestion. Good luck in whatever you decide and happy wheeling to you! Nice to hear people actually go outdoors

    1. I have a problem with this car being named Discovery, it's not.
    2. They built a perfect soccer mom vehicle, it shouts "get out of the way, there's a mom coming to pick up her kids".
    3. Looks like an Evoque, it is hard to tell them appart aesthetically.
    4. To finish it up, and I will say it again... the name "Discovery", it should not be called that way if it doesn't have adjustable suspension, it doesn't have the rugged boxy aesthetics suggesting it can go offroad. All wheel drive set up... more for snow and light offroad.
Just my opinions, you are free to bash them

Jeep enthusiasts made similar arguments about the new Cherokee. You see how Jeep hurried to backtrack and change the name to appease ... nevermind. Don't think the manufacturers care what enthusiasts think. Unfortunately, they make up too small a margin of the potential customer base. They use names that evoke memories of capable vehicles. The people buying them will likely never so much as get them dirty. It's just the world we live in.

Jonathan Scherer I know, but it is hard to follow when manufacturers start talking about the brand heritage. @ 1:49, for a top dollar car, having a 4-banger just does not sound right. No matter how you cut it (twin-turbo, vvt, GDi, silent shafts, etc. etc..), a 4-banger is an economy car implement that just does not "sound" (pardon the pun) like it belongs to any car that sells for more than 30 grand (okay, with a couple of exceptions -- and if you're a car guy, you'll know w/c cars I'm referring to). There are older 4-wheel drive cars out there from 10+ years ago with sophisticated V6 engines that run and sound waaaay better than this 4-banger econo-lux of an suv.

Now we wait for comments on how "superior" land rovers are even though we all know their sad history.

Cadillac Car Guy Well, they reckon 75% of all the LandRovers made are still being used, so they must be doing something right.

You could say the same thing about Cadillac but now both brands are reinstating themselves.
Land rover is no longer the company with poor reliability and everything breaks
Cadillac is no longer the company that your grandparents buy.

Jonathan Washington I agree, but Land Rover got 2nd to last in the most recent JD Power dependability survey that came out a day ago...

Bruce Solomon I'm always around keeping a good eye on you! You're 10/10, I'm so jealous about your woman.

Nik Brudar You're a good guy Nik and you're young and a good looking young man. Never be jealous. You will find a wonderful woman to spend your life with. If you build a good career first and have all your ducks in a row, do the things that interest you in life, one day you will find that she'll be standing right beside you. It's the best way and much less frustrating than searching for one. Also since you will have the same interests you'll find that you're compatible.

Bruce Solomon those were some wise words. Definitely you must be more experienced than I. Thankfully I can say that I'm a very happy person with my current GF (hopefully it will stay like this forever). We shall see where the life turns. I wish you all the best.

I hate how Land Rover pretends that this is a seriously good off road car. This in my opinion is not a proper off road Land Rover. The lr4 is good for that and so is the Range Rover. The defender is the best but it is not sold here :(

It is a proper off road car.
It is not a hardcore off road car if that is what you are getting at.

bighands69 I mean it is a family car that can handle some light off roading. Its not like the Range Rover, or Defender.

This car is such a dissapointment...Ford parts? Turbo and transmission lag? Yeah...I'll stick with the older generation land rovers...

The ford components are the engine which is a carry over from ford's ownership, although heavily revised. For some unknown reason they rushed it to launch with the ford engine. If you wait six months they have developed a brand new engine series called ingenium in house. Basically means if you buy at launch your 40 grand car is practically obsolete when the new engines are standard.
