"A Dude Enjoying Nature and Taking Pictures" Episode 6
Hello everyone!
I have always debated if I should add voiceover or subtitles to my videos. It never felt right until this video. So, here comes my first video with captions. Let me know what you think in comments :)
Let's go back to the story of the video...
As most of you, life has been busy with work lately. These small adventures are getting less possible if I don't put extra time and effort. Couple weeks back, I had one of those "Mountains are calling and I must go" moments on a Friday morning. I knew Tioga pass was just opening.
Cathedral Lakes hike has always been on my list but for some reason I could never hiked the trail before. It is kind of in an odd spot and whenever I wanted to do it there was sth blocking me. One time it was wildfires and on another attempt I had to go back to LA. It would be crazy to hike and drive back to LA afterwards.
Anyways, It was the right time. I came home after work. Took a nap. Woke up around 10 PM and hit the road. Parked at the trailhead an hour before sunrise. For the first 3 hours I only saw one other hiker. It was so beautifully quiet and peaceful. Although trail is maintained well, there were some sections still covered with snow.I don't think I could find the path without AllTrails app. Highly recommend using some kind of gps tracking if you hike this route.
It is not a difficult hike but some sections are real steep. 1700 feet elevation gain and 9 miles according to my stats. This obviously includes the times I had to go back to pick up my camera and wondering I did. It was amazing at upper lake. I wish I hadn't forgotten my food pack. I felt tired and cold at the top and right decision was to go back. I am sure I will go back and do some exploring sometime in the future. I really love doing these solo hikes and road trips.
Note to myself, I need a better hiking backpack. The one I use is a super old camera bag and it gets super uncomfortable after a couple hours.
Camera Nerd Stuff
I used Canon R6 and XT3. 99% of videos are from R6. I think there is only 1 or 2 videos from XT3. All shot in log. Photos at the end are a mix. I shot some panos with XT3 which turned out great!I used RF 16mm f2.8 on R6 and 23mm f2 on XT3.
Hope you enjoy the video!

Been to Yosemite a multiple times, and it is absolutely one of the most stunning national parks. Your video brought me back to my memories of countless miles hiked in this natural wonderland. Thank you for sharing this video and happy exploring.

Simsekler, gok gurultuleri vs. Karadeniz firtinalarini aratmiyor
Love this take on travel and adventure films! It’s so calm, yet interesting. Keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank u!

May I ask how you hold you r camera on the car, do you have some special equipement?
Hi, I don't have any specific equipment. I usually improvise with my tripod. Sometimes use whatever I have in the car such as pillows. jackets etc
