Honesty is the best policy! If you did that to my car, owned up to it and offered to fix it you would be the only mechanic that id ever use again. Admitting a fu%k up is hard but actually makes you look better long term. You win some you loose some, but your good karma will be heading your way for admitting that.
The 2nd option is probably insurance fraud. It is a pain that most insurance is basically useless because you’re gonna pay it back via higher premiums anyway.

I've fought the driver side VW strut job recently and luckily I had no time pressure so I could order tools (strut splitter and bearing puller for the wiper). I imagine as a mobile mechanic sometimes you need to wing it with what you have.

Buy your self a mcpheson strut tool way safer I use to use spring claps spring not like they use to be way more dangerous and strength now nice work too 👍🏾
I have the same spring compressor. You probably already know, but you are supposed to put the spring inside those cups, not the strut itself. Much more secure that way. I do understand that sometimes doesn't allow you to compress the spring enough though. I've had to do it that way a couple of times.
If you claim on your own insurance for a windscreen, you have to declare it for 3-5 years on your renewal. I only found this out 4 years ago just days before my MOT was due!

I remember melting a hole in a window sill back in the day, oops! Regardless, it got rectified so all done and dusted. It happens!

Everyone makes mistakes, i went to put a ceramic coating on a brand new caddy van last year, and for some daft reason when i got my pressure washer out i pointed my pressure washer at the van without testing it away from van first ( what i always do ) and a quick release nozzle flew out the end of lance and dented his van, i was so pissed off with myself, of course i paid for a pdr guy to fix it, way too much hassle to go through insurance, also do you not have one of the little tools to for removing wipers ? i picked one up from halfords when i was struggling with my caddy van wiper, popped off easy.

We had our low mileage Rover 75 given a full service by a garage we used to use. The idiot who serviced the car managed to damage the plastic cowling under the windscreen. He infact broke the corner off and stuck the part back on with some adhesive. The garage owner admitted the damage when I collected the car and a repair had been done. Looked at the car the following day and it was terrible, had to buy a new one from Rimmers. The idiot had also damaged the air filter box lug, when I serviced the car myself. Funny thing is when we used to have a Jaguar X-Type, the garage who was repairing another garage's work managed to damage the air-conditioning radiator. They admitted the damage and replaced the item with a new one. That is why I would go back to that garage if I ever owned a Jaguar again. The other garage I will never use them again. The so called 'mechanic' no longer works for the garage A. I am glad that you admit your mistake to the customer and made good.
I'd just pay for this out of pocket and get it solved myself. Call the job a write-off or deduct the cost from what the job owes me. Live and learn, and the customer still gets his vehicle ready to go. Insurance claims lift premiums and cost time to either you or the customer.

How come you seat the shock in the spring compressor like that? It seems you are compressing the spring at the top against the springs/shocks lower seating? The spring should be seated on the tool at the top of the coil and the bottom? Just wondering to save you from some catastrophe 😅
I only do that for when the spring is too long/short to (de)compress. Adds that extra height that I need. Not the safest I know but it sadly works 😅 I’m sure there are better ways there

That’s the reason why I did it. It because a ‘short’ spring, I had no choice by to compress the strut with it. It works BUT not as safe 😅

Do you not have a puller to remove the wiper arms with. Never had one that hasn't come off for me.

Not claiming on your m t policy means your re newal isn't based on accurate data, disappointed you put these as the two options
One, you broke it you pay.
