I have a 2006 - love it. You missed two small points. When you open the glove box and squeeze in the sides you get easy access to change the cabin air filter. Also when you remove the divider in the coffee cup holder you can lift out the rubber mat easily to clean it. I could tell you didn't know that one. Ha!
Another one he missed is that you don't have to hold the key to start it, you can turn it to crank and let go and it will keep cranking until it starts. So like a precursor to push button start!
Don’t forget that some models have curved mirrors installed on the rear inside pillars by the rear window. You can look into the mirrors and see on either side of you when trying to back out of a parking space with vehicles parked beside you and blocking your view. Also, in the back cargo area there are little knobs that can be used to hang grocery bags on. It will prevent the contents of the bags from being tossed about when driving.
I'd still rather spend more on gas in a T4R than all the parts and repairs that american cars constantly require. I buy Toyota because I prefer spending more time IN my truck than UNDER it.
Thanks for showing us those features. I wish that Toyota would have videos like this when you purchase your vehicle. I’ve had mine 14 years and just learned about the seat to bed conversion and sliding the cup holder left or right for drinks. Great assumption on the purpose of the reclining seat, trash can and tissue holder. Pretty sure that was the purpose of the design. 😉
I knew everything....or so I thought, until he moved the cup holder to the left! There was a cool thread in one of the 4runner forums about all the things people had found inside the hidden glove compartment when they bought theirs used, lol
The seat bed isn't just the passenger seat. The driver's seat does it as well. The one that took me the longest to find is the tray that slides forward it from under the rear seat armrest cupholders. I never have the armrest down so I never looked
Great now everybody's going to know about that secret compartment! Toyota Tissues and Toyota Trashbags must be expensive. I take the lower part of the back seat out and fold the backs down for car camping inside.
I permanently removed my back seats and built a deck where they once were. Now I have plenty of storage, and the entire back is a bed. I don't miss my back seats at all.
One more feature missed. In the center of the back seat, you can actully pull out the center of the seat, then in the center of that flap, you can actully pull out a hidden double sided cup-holders
My sister randomly brought me my first car (2006 Toyota 4 runner) and I’m loving it , just learning how to drive at 23 years old 😅but great video and found out the reason why I couldn’t open my trunk (I was holding the button while trying to lift 😂) also the passenger chair turning into a bed ....thank you very much 🙇🏽
The driver side door also has a function where if you use the key to unlock the door it will unlock only the driver door... If you turn it twice it unlocks all doors
I have a 2007 limited and it comes with a power outlet inside the center armredt5. Also, this is a great alternative to a pickup You have plenty of passenger room, cargo capacity and since the passenger seat lays flat and rear window lowers, you can haul long pieces of lumber or other items from home depot without having to tie it down!
I prefer to haul a few 2x4s or pipes on the roof rack. I carry 1" nylon cam buckle straps for that. A trailer is the best option for plywood. A $600 folding Harbor Freight trailer can haul 1700 pounds... more than my old Tacoma could haul, and a stronger trailer can haul 5000 pounds, which is the towing limit of my 2005 V6 4Runner.
I have an '05 4Runner and I love it! Many of the mechanics at the Toyota dealership where I have it serviced often ask me if I want to sell it....No!!! :-) Thanks for that great video.
I didn’t know about the passenger seat and always wondered what the hell went in the underside of the center console. Question though, in some of the pictures your rear passenger side seat looks reclined?
I think that part about the passenger seat turning into a bed was very well played. The cheesy low buck hotel bar jazz just made it perfect! I laughed heartily from that. It's too bad that Toyota has halted production of these wonderful vehicles. Personally, I would rather have that mid 60s Corvair Greenbriar van! Now that was a very underrated vehicle!
Nice! Thanks for sharing. I have the same '04 SR5. Bought a few years ago from original owner 30K miles. Pristine condition. The rear center console has a pop out cup holder.
Totally Agree!!! 16 years last month on my 05. Best vehicle ever. Wife has gone thru 4 different cars since I have owned mine. Even if I ever get a new car...this will stay in the family. And over 12 years on my battery. People were shocked it lasted that long. Sadly I could not find another Panasonic replacement. So probably will be joining the rest of the world going forward and replacing battery every 4-5 years now.
Heya. I have a 2006 Toyota 4runner with 275k miles on the chassis and frame, and 171k on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain (2007 parts). My engine has the check engine light, VSC Off, VSC TRAC, and traction control light lit up like a Christmas tree on my dash. Also, at very low speeds and at low throttle, this sound from exhaust (I don't know if my cats are shot) is like a high-pitched rattling sound, NOT like a rock bouncing around on youtube videos you'd look up online about shot cats. My O2 sensors are all new and have been replaced WITH spacers on them. I took my car to the local automotive shop, they said to fix this they would need to mess with the exhaust, put new O2 sensors on and take the spacers off, then diagnose from there to see what's wrong. It's going to be expensive from them... I also am wanting to do this myself... I have a mechanic friend that told me that my cats need to be replaced but I'm not so sure it's the problem just yet... Any suggestions?
That was interesting. Another nice thing about the seat folding down is you can fit 8 foot 2x4's in there. But like many of your videos you gave us another perception of what can be done with it. ;-)
Never a dull moment with Ecc videos. This Suv is packed full with some features am sure most owners may not even know about. Chris I would have love you to touch the power train. The front seat /bed is cool man💪😂.
New sub from Spain, I like your style! Shame only early 90’s 4runner generation was available here in Europe, the lack of a diesel engine made it near impossible to sell.
I have 2006 sr5 v6 for sale I'm second owner..no rust no smell interior great shape.. original from Oklahoma...it's now in Georgia shipped through CarMax..I don't drive it often I bought a 4cy Mazda for work commuter car.. bright silver metallic and grey leather interior.. getting harder to find in this great shape... everything works..$12995 if interested! 134500 miles some paint chips n door dings nothing major shines like new!
Jorge Lastra no it definitely is a cool feature. Something more cars should incorporate imo. Cuz for road trips one could sleep while the other drives.
Yikes!!! I am not telling my wife about the reclining bed making front passenger seat. It's the car she drives. No tissues. No trash receptical. No nada. I'll never be able to drive or look at my 05 V8 without suspicion. 😂
All I can say is the tissue box and trash bag holder and fold down seats have many uses for instance lol my allergies 🤧 those tiring camping drives to take a break or just to look up at the stars and enjoy the evening with your loved one. Great Vid appreciate it!
Why don’t you keep them secret. I’ve only had Toyota 4x4 trucks since I was 16. Thanks to RUclips videos, the prices have become ridiculous. Enjoy the thumbs down
I slept in the trunk of my 4Runner once, I wish I knew of the best feature before, by the way I replaced the rear door actuator because it got frozen! $65 after market part in amazon, they wanted $300 at the dealer for original part! go to YT university to learn how to do it
The 30 seconds to open the door after pressing unlock on the key fob is for accidental pocket presses. It does the same thing on my 08 Scion XD. Double key turn will unlock all doors even on my Dad 2001 Tundra.
my back lock doesn't roll down the window. i think i prefer it that way. the switch up front still works, so it's not completely broken. the fob does nothing at all, so that'll be another 30-some bucks
I had no idea about any of those features, each time I watch one of your videos, I learn something. That's awesome! Keep it up! That trash can thing is actually really clever. We use to own a CRV and we kept a small trash can jammed in that same spot... odd thing with the CRV (it was a 2013 model) they actually included a legit table in the back. You could pull it out, fold out the legs and set it up like any other folding table. It was a really neat feature, but honestly, I don't think we ever used it. Wow, only 1 video away from May!
I had an 04 4runner sr5 for a few years and I regret trading it in every day. I traded it in for a 2016 Tacoma that I later sold and it ended up being a massive downgrade. The 4.0 v6 was 100x better than the 3.5
East Coast Classics Great video/I love Toyota's thank you for sharing this information on your 2004 toyota 4runner/I myself own a 2001 toyota camry Le I am the second owner it runs great looks great how ever it is a florida car this camry looks and runs better then some new cars/
So true. I tend to think 4Runners and most Toyota's are a little overpriced but really, I've had mine almost 20 years now. A little extra in upfront costs but long, long lasting. Seems fair to me!
You cant go wrong with a toyota. My buddy works for toyota we use to do the transfers to other dealers to pick up a vehicle his customer wanted and swap with a vehicle from his inventory
Yeah, true. I tend to think Toyota is a little higher then they should be. BUT..., almost 20 years later I still have this 4Runner and it looks and drives pretty nice.
I use plastic grocery bags in the folding trash can. The owner's manual says the frame is designed for grocery bags but it's not very intuitive. Pull the loop handles of the bag up through the frame, wrap them over the side arms and secure them in the hooks on the underneath side of the frame. They aren't well secured, but good enough. There are non-Toyota small tissue boxes that fit the center console, and both front seats can be made into a bed by removing the head rest and folding the back to the rear, not just the passenger seat. This is true fot power seats or manual seats.
This 4Runner is designed for 7 people, with three in the middle row and two in the back row. But not all 4Runners have three rows of seats so if that's important to you.
2:58 Late night visits with lady friends 🤣🤣🤣 for a little power nap!
That's my code word with the misses for some smooching time :)
Didn’t know that about the passenger seat. I guess I’m moving out.
@Jude Kole just shut the hell up you morons
When that music came on for the bed in the car. I cried of laughter
Haha, glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!

Move over Doug demuro ;)

Another thing I did not know, gonna check mine
I use those mirrors every day. Rather handy.
Toyota always seems a cut above the rest. The Japanese make good stuff.
Great little spot in the glove box to put/hide your handgun
Drugs
I had a brand new '99 4Runner what seems like a lifetime ago.
It had the best of both worlds;
A V6 with the fuel economy of a V12. lol

@@AmbientShades Wow
Power of a 4cyl and economy of a V8 but mine is still running good 20 years later with zero major repairs. Just fluids filters and consumable repairs.
@@peterp8959 no timing belt or water pump replacement?

Awesome video! Just picked up an 03 and was blown away when I figured out the rear cargo “shelf”. Almost doubles rear cargo capacity!
Great video, loved your commentary on the usage of the tissue holder and waste receptacle, fun stuff!
Don't need a tissue if she.... "s*****s" ! ;>) YOU KNOW IT"S TRUE ! Lol!
I own a 2005 4Runner and I knew about, well, like 2 of these secrets 🤣 thanks
My 07 4Runner looks pretty identical to yours. Have 215K on it with V8 engine. It is quiet and solid. Very dependable! Love it!! 😎
mine is v8 as well with 340,000 and counting!, runs like new
The seat bed isn't just the passenger seat. The driver's seat does it as well. The one that took me the longest to find is the tray that slides forward it from under the rear seat armrest cupholders. I never have the armrest down so I never looked

Just bought an 04 today....all these are bonus features no one mentions. Add value, cha-ching!!
LOL.... Love how you have explained the purpose for the tissue Box compartment and the trash can!
with a straight face too :)
That explains all the stains on most 4runners

That is awesome about getting a 4Runner and it sounds like you have a pretty great sister too. Enjoy that baby and enjoy driving too.
I absolutely love my 2004 AWD 4runner. Thanks for these great tips I didn't know about.
You forgot the starter position, where you just have to touch, release and the car cranks on it's own.
Love this feature!
Ha-ha - Thanks a lot I own my about 17 years, and now I learned something I never new. Thanks Again !!! :)
This is so maddening I owned this car for years and never knew this! Great Vid!

thanks for sharing my daughter has an 04 and runs great.
When you showed the front seat laying out flat, it looked like the rear seats were in a reclined position??? is that also a feature??
The back seat only reclines on models equipped with third row seating.
Mine is a 2004 limited I love it. It still travels far and sounds good as new. I bought it second hand from the first owner.
I have a 2007 limited and it comes with a power outlet inside the center armredt5. Also, this is a great alternative to a pickup

Haha, I think you solved the mystery of the tissues and trash bag holder, didn’t know they made a pervert trim 😂😂
I have a 2003 Limited that I bought new and it is still my daily driver with 181K miles. I still love it!
As an Option , They also came with a mirror above the fold down seat .
( and that little flip down thingy on the console ?
Its for holding Condoms )
Had my 2006 since new, so 14 years. Didn’t know about the extra glove box or making the passenger seat into a bed.
Works for pass & driver, Toyota calls it social seating. Great for Drive In Movies & more head room
