Not really ur car probably still has an issue with it this doesn’t just fix the problem the light just tells u hey get ur car maintenance done it needs it. Resetting it is for after u get the issue fixed on ur car and cus old cars don’t turn it off automatically u got to reset it manually but if u just do this and ur car was never worked on ur light will be back on in a matter of a few days to a week.
This is a video visual of how to perform the Factory Toyota TSB yourself. It is 100% the correct way to resolve a known factory issue on the 4th gen 4 Runner V8s. As you can see from the comments, when done correctly, this PERMANENTLY resolves the VSC issue. I performed this myself on my own '03 V8 over a year ago, and the problem never returned. I've put 40k miles on it since the TSB reset.

@@HorsepowerHouse you mean, get an auto technician, or an auto mechanic?…. Because obviously you cant just go grab any old “mechanic” off the street right? There is all types of mechanics. Im looking for a specific issue. Ive talked to several mechanics, ive taken it to an auto mechanic shop. they thought that they fixed it and it turned out that they didnt. Im on here asking specific questions and looking for specific answers… and you pop up with, “maybe get a mechanic”.. lol thanks for the tip

Great video, I have a 2003 SR5 Sport, and I noticed that you painted the gray plastic bottom part of your truck black, which is exactly what I want to do eventually. How did you have that done?
Pulled it off the car… sanded, primed and painted. Buy a few bags of Toyota body clips on eBay or Amazon. You’ll break most getting them off due to age.

Its normal for the vsc lights to come on when the check engine light comes on. After you clear the check engine light, these lights usually remain on, so you have to do a zero point calibration. This is what this video shows you. Disabling the battery wont clear the vsc lights. You have to do it this way from my experience. Ive had my 03 runner for 9 years and have had to do this many times. When these lights are on, you will lose your traction control...its no big deal really, just nice having no lights on the dash like the vsc or check engine.
Does this work for a 2008 Toyota Prado (Not sold in the US) which is basically a Lexus GX but with a V6 engine. I have the same lights on (VSC TRAC and VSC OFF) plus one more amber light which I think is the symbol of Traction Control (The one showing a car sliding).
It didn’t work on mine. I have a GX470 that I recently lifted. The trac light came on even after the alignment. I don’t think they did a good job. Found a different video on RUclips This reset worked but when you use 4 and 12. They’re the last ones on the right and they are top and bottom.

The reset worked and the lights were off, but the next day, they came back on. I turned the engine off and waited for about 15 minutes, then when I started it again, the lights were off. Now, they’ve been off for a couple of days. I don’t’ know if they’ll come back on again. But frankly, I don’t care as long as there is nothing wrong with the Traction Control system.
My 2006 rav4 came out the light VSC 4WD during temperature negative and won't engage 4wd up to 3 days, And I was trying to soft hammering using my small screw driver, the Vsc sensor and max airflow sensor And I started, the light disappeared and it's work without removing positive connection
I have a 2004 4Runner SR5 V6. Tried this and nothing got cleared. Installed new suspension last year and the ABS light came on. Could messing the ABS correlate with this procedure not working for me? Thanks!
What if my 03 runner had the hydraulic suspension shocks and i put regular shocks and left all hydraulic lines disconnected will it also keep the lights off for good after i reset?
@waketek516 I think the problem may be that I have a permanent DTC for fuel pressure sensor that I can't clear. Repair was made but I may have to wait for a couple of drive cycles before the ECU recognizes the repair. This process may work then. Thanks for posting.

From my experience yes it was my head gasket, it blew 2-3 months after the lights came on but if you scan the codes it'll say catalytic issue just a fyi.

Still working in 2024! Thanks! Was at a loss what to do after new tires and alignment triggered the VSC dash lights!

Thanks for the instructional video. Before you do all that, disconnect the battery for a couple minutes. Mine went off immediately.
That resets the computer.... beware that in 150-300 miles, all your codes may come back.

Its normal for the vsc lights to come on when the check engine light comes on. After you clear the check engine light, these lights usually remain on, so you have to do a zero point calibration. Yes. It very well could. This is specific to the VSC lights. Not ABS.

This does not "turn them off" - it resets them so they work properly. This will not correct removal of the VSC system.
Tried this on an 05 4runner V6 several times. Nothing cleared. Lights are still on. Bad ECM ?

Mine was a 02 sensor after I replaced everything was good
Mine were Fuel Injectors also causing a misfire on 3 cylinders on the right driver side of the engine.

I had just installed a new chandelier in the dining room and used the left over wire I had from that. Worked like a charm.
You can literally use any wires. Watch the video. I made mine out of scrap wire and paper clips :).

I don't think this would indicate anything with a headgasket issue
